Best running back in the state??
#1
I haven't seen many this year but have heard a lot of good names and numbers out there so I was wondering who you think personally who is the best back in the state by stats so far this season? My vote is for Hunter James from Lawrence County. James in two games this year has 472 yards and 10 touchdowns. He had two TD's called back last game a 78 and a 72 yard so he actually had 12 carries 446 yards and 5 tds in his last outing. If there is a better back with his speed, power, and vision out there I want to know who he is. I think the Davenport kid from Bell County was pretty good.

Bell Co's Davenport would be one of the best in state if Dudley would let him touch it alot more and stay in games longer. His 4.43 40 time is hard to catch him on the outside.
#3
This year Cory Davenport has 274 yards rushing with 5 TD's in 2 games. He has only carried the ball ONLY 14 times in those two games.

He is averaging 19.5 yards per carry this year.
#4
JJ from JC. Anyone know how many yards he has so far. I am guessing around 500.
#5
Miller from Clay is a bruser.

There seems to be many good RBs. in the state this year, you could probably make a case for 8-10 being the best. I've personaly watched Davenport, Jude, James, saw on film the Cook kid from Boyle, the Marsh kid from Greenup,Avery for Sheldon Clark. All these RBs. are tremendous & some are better at one thing in paticular. Davenport can flat out FLY. But just my opinion Hunter James is the most all-around to be found. I heard he runs a legit 4.5 40 is a monster in the weight room.Look at his numbers, 232 yds. a game, 29.2 yds. a carry, 10 TDS. and only touched the ball 18 times counting 2 recs. for 60 yds. 2TDS. Pretty outstanding!!

He is very good.. Hunter James has only touched the ball a few more times then him.. Its hard to get carries for these two guys when they are blowing teams out and when your trying to spread the carries around with other backs that are just as capable.

Of this years? If so its probably not very accurate. Some schools probably havent turned in their stats yet. I know Bell Co just turned theirs in today.

Top rushers are not out yet.

My vote would be either Elliott from Ryle, who ran for 151 against probably the best team in Kentucky in Highlands, or maybe Davenport, who is terrific... with an honorable mention to Jude, who is superb.

James has great stats, but against subpar opponents so far.

Knocking him for his performance vs. Bell in the playoffs last year is as rational as saying Brett Favre wasn't very good last season because he stunk in the final quarter of the NFC title game.

But I've come to expect that rationale from die hards who can't see past their own sidelines.

My point is how good can James do against a good Defense? Thats why I put his stats from last year against Bell. PACK was suppose to run over us last year and only got 60 yards against us and no TD's.

Now JJ Jude is a **** of a RB and he proved that against a good KC D this past Fri. Jude is my 2nd best RB behind Davenport in the mountains this year.

I know that East Ridge has had some pretty good backs this year and i was wondering if there #s are up there any where but thanks any ways.

Im not gonna say he is the best back in state, but Cook from boyle is a straight down hill runner. He has something like 406 yards on 43 carries, so not out of this world stats but he really carries this team when they need him. And i just really like watching him carry the rock.

And James shredded KC's defense last year, which was essentially the same unit as you're praising Jude for doing well against this year. Were they crappy last season and great this year? You can't have it both ways when it is mostly the same personnel.

We don't know how James will do against a good defense yet because LC hasn't seen one. But he IS doing what a good HS back will do against a bad HS defense - dominating them.

This argument is sort of like played out last season, when no one outside the Bullldogs' own zip code believed LC would get past McCreary Central in the first round of the playoffs.

Clearly it was not true.

James is a good back, but it remains to be seen how good. See? We actually pretty much agree.

Personally LC will NEVER see Bell Co this year. KC will get revenge this year with a kid named Jeffery Canady.

LOL.... no but he is averaging 19.5 yards per carry. His speed is the same as last year. Our #2 RB Sophmore Ryan Collett runs ABOUT the same speed as Davenport.

Exactly, the same D for KC this year. 18 returning starters and all have 1 year experience under their belt. Just remember the name Jeffery Canady this year that was injured last year if you guys get to play them again.

I guess Hunter James lost a years experience? I already figured you out. You have nothing but bad things to say about Lawrence County. Knox Central on the other hand, not so much. I remember you saying something similar along the lines last year saying Knox Central was going to beat Lawrence County along with nearly every other Bell County fan. You guys beat Lawrence fair and square. Bell has a very good football program and returned basically their entire team. They're the team to beat this year. Just because Bell County has a great team this year doesn't mean you should bash the heck out of Lawrence County every chance you get.
