#2
Owensboro Catholic -42
Russell - 17
#3
i'll take catholic in this one.
#4
I'm hoping that Russell can bring home a state championship!!!
#5
If Russell takes the field with the same intensity they showed last night, its thiers to lose.
#6
I'll take Russell in a good one. Word has it that the injury to #16 Michael Horn on Friday night will keep him from playing in the state championship game. I'm not sure what the injury is other than it is to his arm. That is Russell's top cover corner and will hamper them against the throwing Aces, but in all Russell's secondary is very stout and they will get atleast 3 INTs in this game.

Russell - 28
Owensboro Catholic - 21

Bring it on home to Eastern Kentucky.

My heart says Russell--I would love to see the trophy go to another eastern kentucky team, but my head says Catholic.

Bring it on home to Eastern Kentucky.

Michael Horn has some torn ligaments in his elbow and a dislocated left shoulder. He won't be able to play in the state championship game.

Do you think that will affect Russell?
#9
It will definently have a negative effect on Russell. Horn was the top cover man throughout the year and also was a starter in the backfield on offense. On Friday Nick Lewis took over both spots for Horn. Belfry was able to take advantage of the much smaller Lewis against one of their biggest players, Chapman, in the passing game. McGlone and the Russell team let this continue on for a few plays before moving offensive stud and great athlete Kasey Clark to cover Chapman. On Clark's first play covering Chapman, he intercepted the pass and sealed the win for Russell.

Gosh its another one of these games where I have to do a lil of my own research and see what i can find sigh. Darn these good games Smile

If you can dethrone the champs you have to think they are for real. Good luck Red Devils. One more win and you can celebrate what dreams are made of.

This may be bigger than most want to think!

Russell needs to play a full game to beat OC!

I am pulling for the Devils but I think the Aces will be too much for the champions of Region 3.

Owensboro Catholic wins the 2A state championship.
#22
I think Owensboro pulls this one out, in a close one. 28-24.

OC 33

Bet on this game......
#25
Russel beat belfry by 6 in the last few minutes, and last Season Belfry made it a no contest, so i believe that Owensboro Catholic will take the state this year, not having any problems with a Belfry one two punch of Jones and Howard

The more I think about this game the more I think the title might be headed to the Western side of the state in a very good football game! I am not sure what the Russell "D" will be able to do with OC. They are a very good team that can score on any play and like to do things very fast. I will be pulling for Russell due to the fact that I have a great deal of respect for their program, team, coach and fans! I must pick with my head and not my heart!

OC- 28
Russell- 27

Please prove me wrong Russell and keep it in the East! Cool

I feel catholic bells ringing.

I also fill OC will pull this game out. I believe Russell has a class program and great ballteam. But I also believe Belfry came out flat and didn't play to there potential against Russell. Making them look better than they were. I am not bashing Russell in any way here. The better team won the game that night. But I also looked for OCath to beat Belfry if it came to it. I'm pulling for Russell and hope they prove me wrong. I don't think they have the speed to keep up with OCath. And speed kills. JMO

While I am definitely pulling for the Red Devils, and Coach Ivan McGlone, one factor of the game could come back to haunt Russell.

That factor is special teams play. Russell's punter is, for lack of better words, not so great. If Russell can continue to move the ball downfield without having to punt, they'll be in OK shape. But if the O'Cath D holds and forces Russell to punt, giving the Aces a short playing field will be just what the Devils do not need to happen.

If special teams, punting in particular, becomes a big part of this game the Red Devils are in trouble. Minimizing mistakes is crucial to Russell becuase of this. IMO, if they take care of the ball they should move downfield consistently against O'Cath.
