Congrats to the Greenup County Musketeers. They were strong but they definetly had the home field advantage tonight. Russell, you can't win with 4 to 5 interceptions in a game. Sometimes the QB has to eat the ball. Greenup brought a tough defense on some plays but Russell could not capitalize on the red zone. Good luck to the Musketeers this year! Thankful for no real injuries.....

Russell lived in GC territory all night. Can't turn the ball over that many times. Greenup has a solid team. I thought it was pretty evenly matched. Enjoy the win while you can. It may be a while before you get another one.
On the positive side for Russell, Greenup County didn't just run over them like some thought. Russell moved the ball well to. Got to get the ball in for TDs when your in the red zone that many times.

It came down to the 4 interceptions. Russell's defense played well and slowed the Greenup rushing attack. The offensive sets from the classic Wing-T seemed to work. They just couldn't make the plays when they counted. I like the toughness and effort of the team, though. Russell has junior and sophomore classes that should make next year the best in a long time again. Justin Davidson is very good. Greenup's just a little better this year. Congratulations to the Musketeers.

Way to go Musketeers. It was your year!! You made the big stops when it counted and never let Russell in the endzone. Congrats to GC MVP Corey Lyle!

GC just to strong this year.... Russell slowed them some but they just keep making the big plays on defense, 4 pics? Russell qb made terrible decisions when under pressure, tried to force way too many balls. Sometimes you just have to take a sac. Couldn't believe they kept Russell out of the endzone (two fieldgoals) thought GC would win, but never would've thought that! I did like the davidson kid for Russell made some nice catches for big yards when they went to the shotgun. Russell doesn't have the big play capability that there use to, an it really showed tonight. I do wonder what greenup will do next year seems like there senior dominated? Better getter done while the horses are in the stables!
Congrats GC on a big win.

we did'nt have the offensive show like I thought we would see, but the defense stepped up tonight, secondary coverage much better, they bent but did'nt break. We all knew coming into this season that Russell, is down this year, as it showed last year, I think Greenup sweeps the county teams this season, as we play the Rams in 2 weeks at Lloyd. Great job guys, now get ready for next week and work hard to get better. :1:

Hope Greenup enjoys a great yr. Its fun to win!
Russell has definitely improved overall they played well, an old haunt showed its ugly head in the secondary along with making better decisions with the ball will make a difference for this team...Looking forward to next week!

Congratulations to Greenup. They played very hard and made the big plays to stop Russell. Russell needs to keep at least one back in the backfield to block for the QB. I also would like to see more play action to keep the linebackers honest. We must just eat the ball and take a sack when the receivers are covered.

Is Copely still at Greenup?

Congrats to Copley and the Musketeers on a great win. The work they put in this past offseason really shows. He had them in the weight room one week after last season ended and they racked up the hours pumping weights. The boys are bigger, stronger, and more disciplined. (and it showed last night!)

When you hurry and throw 4 interceptions its a gift to you. Alot of missed blocks on both sides.

Russell held that vaunted Greenup rushing attack to 157 yards. So much for Russell being small and slow and getting pushed around.
Both defenses kind of stole the show last night. GC had the takeaways. Good effort by both teams.

It would be productive if the QB actually noticed more than one receiver in the pattern. Had other guys running free and still tried to force it into Davidson.

Yes! You can't just look at Davidson. GC was all over him the second half. I saw backside recievers running wide open at times. I would also like to see them use the running game out of shotgun more.

Unfortuneately the scoreboard doesn't keep score for moral victories, just points.

Congratulations to Greenup County. I was impressed with GC. I'm not sure why several posting aren't wanting to give them their full due. I mean, no TD's allowed? Yes, Russell played better than most expected, including me, but GC stepped up the defense when they had to and that is what good teams do. Also, I thought that the difference with regards to Russell's defensive front against GC's running game came down to conditioning. Late into the 3rd quarter and all of the 4th quarter was hands down controlled by Greenup's offensive line. Enjoy this year GC, I can't see much coming after 18 seniors (out of 38 players) graduate. The cupboard looks bare at the end of this year. Russell, keep your heads up. There was a lot more talent on the field than what I have been hearing.

Let's face it they are not use to getting beat by GC and now they have to try and get back, to try to figure out what happened and how to fix it, in a hurry. Russell is use to winning this game, but they just got their butts whipped and sent packing for Flatwoods, the Devils looked like they were'nt in very good shape to play football, but now they can only work to get better, I picked them as the #3 team in the county as the Rams should beat the Devils in a close game, maybe OT. :1:

I think old warrior hit the peace pipe too much.
Guys, GC has a senior laden team and was favored comming to this game. Russell is a very young team with more talent than what alot of you thought. I think most of the Russell fans are very happy with what they have seen out of this team.
Greenup didn't push them all over the field. It was a close game that senior team pulled out. Enjoy for now because it won't happen very often that the musketeers win one in this series.
As far as 3rd best in the county. Obviously you haven't watched Raceland play. GC and Russell are both much better than the Rams this year.

Russell QB went through zero progession on his reads. It's very easy to pick off passes when he stares at one receiver from the line of scrimmage all the way down the field. But I'd say the coaches from Russell will be working on that with him today. If he does that this coming friday it will be much worse.

Yeah russells line was decient size, but really out of shape. Even after halftime the first drive Russell had which was a good drive half way through it I noticed those big boys hands on hips really tired. really showed later in the game.
