I think South Laurel wins 28-16.

Just curious - are just a loyal fan or what have you seen from them that leads you to believe they will win?
#33
Ill take knox. South may not score, I am like an earlier poster, if south does score it will be on special teams. South dont play enough defense to stop knox. So this may get ugly.
#34
Not even a game, Knox by 35 South may not get a first down
#35
Guys this spread is ridiculous, Knox is not that much better than south. South has size and speed, if Knox overlooks them South can get a W this week.

I agree totally. But I also am sure nobody is overlooking South. They have a speedy QB and a nifty offense that cannot be taken lightly. Their D had trouble containing LCC - but others may as well. Our offense has not proven explosive yet - but it has ALL the potential to be so.

I stand by my prediction of a big win and the basis that our D is good enought to contain a good O; and our O will break out this week without the mistakes!
#37
If KC's d plays like they did vs clay and the o gets things going this could be a big game for them south's qb is great player with some good wheels from what i hear...

knox 35-13

Knox will win but I think it is so funny that they beat Clay Co. who was 4-6 last year and now the fans are ridiculosly cocky.Maybe when you beat someone you can talk, so for now be quiet. In my opinion KNOX will still just be KNOX.This program always under achievs.I dont think Clays defense is very strong, and Knox couldn't put up more than 9.Give me a break!!!!!!

Clay fell apart when Hooker got hurt last year AFTER we played them. We beat them this year with a very healthy Hooker and a QB who tried desperately to get him the ball and could not.

Knox fans are far from cocky; but there certainly is a quiet tide of confidence settling into this program that has been sorely lacking. A great feeder program, a fine head Coach with a stable and talented staff, backed by parents and the community have transformed Knox from cellar of the Mountains to a competitive club that indeed is poised to win against anybody.

Saturday will tell the tale as far as South goes. I'm hoping for a great game with no injuries and few mistakes on both sides so we get a clear indication of where both teams are early in the season.

Where do you get KC fans being cocky? If you look at all that posted I can only count about 4 KC fans. As far as under achieving, you need to explain yourself on that one. To add to what Football1 said about the confidence growing in the program. They went 7-5 last year and the kids felt like it was a disapointing season as well as the fans. "News Flash" It wasn't that long ago that a 7-5 season would have been a GREAT season.
This program has a big monkey on there back also. In a lot of peoples eyes until they beat Bell they don't have a good program. Even if we where to win next Friday against JC which would be a GREAT TASK, KC would still not get any love from some. But just to let you know I am a KC fan and no matter what the outcome is of any game, I will support them on matter what. I BELIEVE in the kids and coaches. Who knows we might not win a game the rest of the season. But then again we may run the table. Either way go KC! BTW touchdownkentucy I do respect your oppion even if I don't agree with it. Have a great day and I hope your team has a great season.

Sounds to me like your taking a shot at Clay. I wana see what some Tiger fans have to say about this post.

He's just telling the truth, Clay was 4-6 last year.

True indeed - but the part about Hookers knee is not mentioned...

I'd like to see KC's offense come to life. Until it does, I'll have to limit my prediction to KC 21-SL 7.

I think Knox will win pretty easy, IF they play ball, stay calm, and do what their supposed to do. If Knox lets any small mistakes get to their head like they did last year against Bell or Lawrence and a couple more then it could be a shoot-out. The only thing I think separates Knox from South is defense. Knox plays mountain defense and comes out to hit you, South is more finesse and relys on offense and looking good. Knox has improved alot over the years and it has carried over again to this season.
Also ragging on Clay Co isn't very accurate. Yes they went 4-6 last season, but they look like they have improved quiet alot this season. They gave Bell Co all they wanted in the grid at KC believe it or not. They have an explosive offense and their D is big and physical. I think its going to be a great contest this year in this district between Bell, Harlan Co, KC, Clay and Rock. Upsets may happen ALL over.
#53
Any updates or final on this game? just checking since middlesboro plays both teams. dont see the jackets playing with knox but hopefully they can a win over south. our stingers 11-12 yr olds beat south 14-8 not that it matters but giving the little ones some credit we had 15 kids to their 48.

Still trying to compare Clay Co with Bell Co in a Gridorama? :please:

Clay proved last night against 6A Scott County that they are for real. Scott had 10 wins last year and destroyed Clay in their opener. Last night Clay put 40 points on them. Playing even in a quarter scrimmage is not a knock on any team. Knox beat them only by playing great defense and surviving some BIG mistakes on offense and nailing a critical field goal. Could have easily gone the other way.

I agree with you, but at the same time i also agree with football1. I completely agree with you on saying its a scrimage. No teams season will be determined by a scrimage in August. But on the other hand Football1 is correct. Clay Co is a solid team.
#59
Being from Bell Co and playing at Bell Co, yes I am comparing that BellCoBobcats09. Give Clay credit they have improved alot and did give us all we wanted. I mean look at the stats from the game. Our secondary and D was having a tough time containing their pass and i'll admit it at times they ran the ball on us as well. You can give me it was grid all you want, but i'll be the first one to say it when those 11 kids from each team stepped onto that field they didn't say to each other, "Hey guys this is just a grid, lets go half speed and not do anything so people can't see what we have this year." You can take that one to the bank. These kids played with everything they had that game. But enough about that, that's for a different thread this is about KC and South.

Great news: Kick off is 5 hours away! Time for the boys from Knox to make the short trip to London and get work done!!
