Middlesboro 13 Letcher Co Central 9
#1
Just got in from this game and WOW!!!! Told you guys Middlesboro would win. They have the talent just needed the coach.

Middlesboro's D is for real this year. It alone will win them some games too.
#2
by the way LCC is ranked 8th in state in 5A...
#3
Wow!!
#4
Wow this is a shocker!
#5
I expected this..I knew the Jackets were alot better and with the new coach and his staff it has made all the difference in the world for these kids and their fans!

Middlesboro is a small 2a team that went 4-8 last year, lost 10 SR. and over 1000 yards of receiving.
#7
Yikes! Quite the upset for all intensive purposes.
#8
I bet they will not be ranked in the top ten of anything next week. I am an LCC fan but if they do not make a great deal of improvement they may not make the playoffs this year. From an LCC fan perspective, listening to this ballgame was like watching paint dry. I am sure a Middlesboro fan would say different and I don't blame them. Congratulations Coach Frazier and Middlesboro on a big win.
#9
congrats to coach Frazier and the jackets!

No shocker to me Middlesboro's D is for real.

Im a Bell Co fan and have watched Frazier at Bell for the past few years and he has the talent for coaching. Middlesboro had 1 bad year last year and lost the respect they have gained the other 60 years. ALOT had LCC to drill Middlesboro in this game.
#12
Chalk one up for the underdog!

You don't have to tell me anything as I have known Coach Frazier for almost 30 years as we went to high school together.
#14
A lot of 5A district 8 picks just went out the window, or atleast got a lot of people scared.
#15
Whoa. Didn't expect this.
#16
Way to go coach Frazier, of course I'm a Bell fan also. Went ther tonight expecting a Letcher County high profile passing team lead by a very capable Mike Whitaker whom I have followed for years. In my suprise I saw a very good defensive game but also watched a good high school quaterback playing for Middlesboro. LC seemed to struggle to get much offense going but believe they will only improve as the year goes, believe in Coach Whitaker he is a winner. Congrats to Middlesboro tonight great confidence boost.

Bet the Middlesboro bandwagon collapses tonight from all the fair-weather fans hopping on after this win. Big Grin

But it is nice to see a team take a pounding like last weeks and actually put it behind them and work to correct the mistakes and/or problems that Alcoa exposed. Definitely the sign of a good coaching staff. Congratulations to the team. Smile

I was listening to the game on and off on the radio and one thing I noticed that DIDN'T happen this year (though it is possible I missed it or the play-by-play guy just didn't mention it).... multiple delays for cramps because of little to no conditioning. I think that was also a big problem for them the last few years. Again, better coaching cleared up that problem.

Enjoy the win. You've earned it.

I didnt make it the game til right before halftime with a score of 0-0. But the second half was full of excitment. middlesboro finally threw ball and the receivers held onto them. the D made a few big stop's inside the redzone.
This 1st win might get the jackets some faith in themselves and the new scheme the new coaching staff has brought. Good luck the rest of the way.
#19
It was a very exciting 2nd half. could have went either way. Middlesboro passing game open things up and their d held on. Didnt see the overall speed that middlesboro teams usually have but they do seem to be in better shape and have more discipline. Congrats and continue this next wk in clay county
#20
wow,didnt see this
#21
Alcoa would make a lot of teams in this State look silly (FYI they beat there County rivalry and POWERHOUSE Maryville last night 35-31) they're a legit top 25 team in the Country!!!!

Middlesboro isn't that bad Alcoa Is just that good.

Our defense bent a little with the QB draw tonight but it never really broke they played one heck of a game and our offense will only get better cause we're still without Epperson (Our best receiver)

Congrats Coach Frazier NICE WIN! and congrats Jackets and good luck next week against another TOUGH team Clay County who beat a traditionally good football team Scott County tonight 41-26.

Wow!

ER puts it on Valley and now this?

Congrats Jackets!

You're not judging by paper are you buddy? Surly because someone takes a beating by Alcoa they are a bad team? This was a game no one wanted to talk about. Middlesboro will be back on the rise.

Alcoa is like 91-4 in the past 6 or 7 years.

Two teams that weren't very good at all last season or the season before, so an outsider cannot expect much out of either.

thats 2 in a row for Alcoa, after they lost like 6in a row to Maryville which at the time had the longest winning steak in the country..

We got to watch that game here in Middlesboro. It was live on the Knoxville TV stations. 13,000 people there and Maryville's first loss at home in a DECADE to anybody!! :yikes:
#29
Looks like 1 team handled a coaching change well the other team not so well.
#30
By the way Middlesboro was without 4 starters in this game too. The starting center was about 60% with a knee injury suffered last week.

Just for the fun of it everybody should go back and read the prediction thread. LOL..
