PrepVolleyball.com has released its preseason national rankings for high school volleyball, and Assumption comes in at No. 2.

The Rockets, who will open their season Wednesday against Presentation, return five top players from last year's 34-5 squad that lost to Sacred Heart in the Seventh Region final. In fact, five seniors already have committed to play volleyball in college - Jeni Houser (Notre Dame), Courtney Robison (Alabama), Jackie Napper (Kentucky), Claire Gerwig (Western Michigan) and Laura Purcell (Loyola-Chicago).

Assumption is one of three teams from Louisville ranked among the top 100 nationally, joining No. 40 Sacred Heart and No. 74 Mercy.

St. Louis St. Joseph's is No. 1 in the nation and will visit Louisville for the Louisville Invitational Volleyball Tournament Sept. 10-11 at the Ohio Valley Volleyball Center. That could provide an interesting championship match if St. Joseph's and Assumption still are ranked Nos. 1-2 in the nation
