Former freshman standout at Shelby County, Darryl Hicks has enrolled at Trinity.
Hicks will sit out his sophomore season.

He also transferred to North Oldham last year, but then he went back to Shelby County. I think that he will stay this time though.

I don't really understand this decision personally... Shelby County is not horrible academically anyway and a kid with his talent will get into any school he wants. So why take an entire year off from organized ball? He can't practice with them or anything so it's all individual skill development. I think he would have gained more by just staying in Shelby County.

Looks like he and his family are looking at the big picture, I support that.

Which he will. A younger cousin of mine who went to school with him says he is a smart kid who isn't just barely getting by. The idea that Trinity or St. X "means something" in the academic world is bogus anyway. My grandfather taught at X for over 30 years and he said the same thing. I just wonder if him sitting out is actually doing him any real good...
Then again maybe I am biased because it annoys me to see kids transfer to other schools strictly for the "exposure"

And if it is truly academic in nature then why not transfer to Dupont Manual. I have been involved in several areas and when you go to award programs you really get sick and tired of hearing the name "... from Dupont Manual".
