Rumors ther could be a shake up.

Its all going to be dependent upon what Mike Rowe's brother wants. If Billy wants Bart gone then Bart will be gone. Mike Rowe has already become the most famous puppet since Kermit The Frog.

I don't see anything wrong with Bart. I think he does a good job, he puts a lot of heart into what he does. With Shelby Valley's big class gone, Pikeville could win the district this year. I wouldn't make any changes because who are you gonna get from that school that could bring the experience Bart has? IMO, they don't have anybody. The bottom line is, you have to have players. Players that are willing to work harder than any other team in the region. To have a good program, you have to have good players and good parents. In the past, PHS has had too many distractions with players and parents complaining about PT among other things.

so true

Pikeville has good players who have been told they are not wanted on the team. Look at the talent that has left the team over the years. This is a fact not hear say

Total BS with a capital B and a capital S. Bart has not been out of District in 3 years and if you are getting paid to coach then you should have to perform. This staff has run off more players than they have retained. Bottom line that is their problem.

Sounds like you might be on the staff.:lmao:

No. I'm not on the coaching staff but I do teach there and I can tell you first hand that Bart is a good guy. Running off players is something I don't know about so I can't speculate on that. I agree that coaches have pressure to perform but who in their right mind actually thought that anyone would win district other than SV the past 3 years. Pikeville should have beat ER last year so I'll give you that but the 2 before that I don't know about. Haven't been there that long. Anyway I'm just trying to defend Bart. I don't feel PHS has any reason to fire him at this point just because we have a new principal. By the way where have you coached and how have you performed?

Just because a guy is a good person doesnt make him a good coach. Barts character is not being called into question. Dave Thomas got fired when his team missed region 2-3 years in a row and that guy actually got Pikeville to the Sweet 16 in '99. Nobody expected Pikeville to beat SV the last 3-4 years but they were good enough talent wise to at least get to 1 region tournament during that time.
#16
Nobody is questioning anything about character, just the fact he hasnt been to one region game in three years. I know for a fact he had more talent than East Ridge. I dont coach but I do have to perform or I dont get paid at work. What a novel idea!
#17
Pikeville did not have to beat Shelby Valley one time to make it to Region.
East Ridge - twice and Belfry once that Pikeville 30 points 2 weeks before.
I will say this most of the kids do not have fun playing under him and have no respect for him and that will never change he treats kids like crap and plays who he wants. And like I have told him the way he treats kids any basketball program will never prosper under him. Bottom Line

Lol. He IS the coach.

I just wanna know: how many shots has Bart taken? how many loose balls has HE dove on the floor after? how many rebounds has HE got? He does have control over who he plays but like panther thunder already noted - he is the coach. PHS had a great record last year, with some injuries down the stretch. The players need to be dedicated in order to be successful. It's hard to be good when the only time you touch a basketball is during the season. Pikeville has the same 5-8 players playing and trying to get better every year from elementary to HS. It's not like ER and SV. They have feeder schools with 5-8 decent players each year that get experience and then move on to HS. The pickin' basket is a lot bigger for county schools.

Guys you have a quality coach there. Support him and let him do his thing. The best thing that happened for Pikeville was graduation and I will leave it at that. I think they will be very competative this year and will get to the region tourney.

If you have no feeder schools, why didnt Pikeville have AAU teams playing summmer league like a lot of other schools/players? No interests?????????

What are you talking about?

Devin Burchett- heady player who played the right way every day.
Gatlin Clark- great scorer who played hard every night.
Patrick Keene- undersized but played heady basketball and stayed on the floor after loose balls.
Dustin Boyd- never got opportunity
Blake Branham- never got much oppurtunity

May have left someone out and am sorry if I did, but if you dont want these seniors, you will never be satisfied with any.

Why arent Randy Maynard, Gavin Miller, Steve Lane, Clark Keene and many others playing anymore? The answer is the COACHING STAFF minus Todd May. Todd is the only one who the kids respect.

Just something for everyone who wants to defend the obvious. Pikeville, Magoffin, and South Floyd are the only schools not to play in the Regional tournament in the last 3 years. Enough said, this is directly from the KHSAA website.
#24
who do u think will be the starters this year?

How True Commanche You Could have taken: Boyd,Tibbs,Harmon,Clark Keene,Maynard to name just a few and made a good team. The kids he had on the team where all good kids but what about the kids i mentioned they are good kids to that would have stuck it out if it wasn't for Bart, ask any of them. He has no respect from any of them, a good Coach should be a good role model and what kid would want to be like Bart after watching him treat kids the way he has. I think it is pretty pathetic. All i have to say now is wait and see Bart and Denny Paul will be sitting in the top corner watching the Region from the stands again.

I think Pikeville can and will return to formidable this season.

Curious? What do you base your observation on or from? I would certainly hope that PHS would make a good showing this season.

Im glad to see someone bring up Tibbs. Last year Bart tells this kid, all 6'7 280 pounds of him, that he "Should just focus on football". I wonder if the fact that Billy Rowes son would lose some PT if Tibbs didnt shift all his focus to football factored into this decision? As Jake Mclanahan from ER was running roughshod over Wes Rowe and Layne Cecil in the district tourney last year. I bet deep down Bart regretted telling Tibbs to take a hike. I guarantee with that type of physical presence down low the sledding wouldnt have been so easy for "Big Jake". Even the staunchest of Bart's apologists cant come up with a logical explanation for this one...
