A trade that would send Mariners left-hander Cliff Lee to the Yankees was "just about done" on Friday morning, according to an executive involved in the trade talks.
The Mariners have been pushing hard to complete the trade, but as of Friday morning there was no agreement in place, sources said, and it was possible another team could have stepped in to make a more aggressive bid.

I hate 'em too. Sooooo many people have jumped on there bandwagon just because there the best and can get anybody. It saddens me that another former Tribe member will probably be heading there.

Yankees win because of their payroll.

The Yanks and BoSox usually have the highest payrolls of any other team(s). So if there is a player they want bad enough, no other team is going to get them, especially a mid market team like Cincy.
This is where I can stand baseball sometimes. There needs to be a better way to cap a team's payroll. It would make everything more competitive.
