Perry Central vs Powell County (14th Region Championship)
#1
Thoughts and Predictions anyone?
#2
Perry Central.

Commodores-6
Pirates-3

What time does the game start?

PCC should take this one but do not underestimate the Pirates as they have a strong baseball tradition also.

Powell beat Perry early in the year at Perry. 12-8 was the final score!

i'm gonna go with the Pirates!

Havent had the chance to see Powell play this year...but i know that PCC has a grat team this year and many people expected it to be a rebuilding season because of the loss of some great players last year.Anyway i say: PCC 7 -- Powell 5

it should be a great close game

Have to give the Coaching edge definitely to the Pirates, but the more experienced players to the Commodores. Bats are about equal on both sides and pitching is a toss up, depending on who has their stuff going. Hope this turns out to be the game that it looks like it will be. Powell is pretty hot coming into the tourney and they have kept it going, and the Commodores have been consistant all season long. Good luck to both teams. Wish they both could go to Applebee's Park.

You'd have to be a complete FOOL to give the coaching edge to the Pirates. Bobby Keith Dixon is the best coach in the 14th. He wins with LESS talent. He works his butt off and doesnt ever get any recognition he deserves down at Basketball City in Perry County. Bob is the best. Varney isnt even in Bob's league.

Just like the Powell-Letcher game, I think this one will be a nail-biter all the way. I don’t know much about coach Varney except that Powell seems to be in the mix every year. He must be doing something right. Dixon is well on his way to his 400th win which speaks for itself. So, I don’t think you could give the coaching edge to either team. Even though Powell beat PCC earlier in the year, I think this game will be much more evenly matched than most people think. When you get to this part of the season, only solid teams are left. The game will come down to pitching and defense. I heard that Perry has a sophomore pitcher who is something like 8-0. Is that true? Will they pitch him tonight? I really think the game will come down to who makes the fewest mistakes. Can’t wait to listen in on this one! Thanks again WKCB!!!

I will agree that Coach Dixon is a fine coach, as is Coach Varney, but to make the claim that Perry has LESS talent is laughable. Year in, year out, this team is probably the most talented. Smith is the best player in the region. Last year, Napier was the best player in the region. He lost 5 or 6 seniors last year IIRC, as well as the Boggs kid, and he's loaded with 7 talented seniors again this year. I will say that Coach Dixon maximizes their talent, but there is alot of natural skill there to begin with.

Anyway, back on topic, I don't know who to pick. I wondered going in if Powell had enough pitching to make it through their tough draw because I knew they were still a very young team, but now that they're in the finals, it's anyone's game. I look forward to a great championship game!

Haven't seen Powell play, but I have to give the edge to Central from what I've seen from them this season. Really good team.

Not taking anything away from Dixon, but this statement is laughable. Varney is one **** of a coach, with maximum baseball knowledge.

Congrats Commodores on the great win...they had a great defense,Connor Hurt did a great job pitching and after the 3 run homer by C. Martin the momentum was in PCC's favor...way to go PCC
