Knott Co. Central Coach for 09/10
rojas Wrote:My hat is off to Knott County Central for going after Billy Hicks, Bill Runyon, and Rodney Woods. To me this shows they are setting their sites high and taking their basketball program seriously. KCC may be my new 14 region favorite team. I hope they get a great coach in the end.

Exactly the response they wanted, knew these guys would turn it down now they can give it to who they wanted to all along and say they tried to get a big name.......wake up man
scott county declines

Some people can come up with the craziest things.
Glad to hear coach is staying at Scott County and not grtting involved with th e politics in Knott County:Clap:

Crazy? Let's talk crazy....

This whole debacle has the same smell as the UK coach search. Remember "The Door"? Well, maybe we can have someone go to Kim's office and broadcast a webcam to her door. This whole thing is a joke and making a mockery of these kids and this program. They should have stuck with Justin. He was doing a great job. Kim, congrats to you and DJ for making KCC the laughing stock of the 14th. Will anyone take them seriously anymore? I'm glad that I don't have any kids in Knott.
I believe KCC was VERY close go getting coach Hicks.
I also thought it was interesting that in his interview with Mike Fields Hicks said he wanted to finish his career in the mountains.

I thought it was funny when the Lexington News said the quote from Hicks was" I drove to Hindman had a look around and came back home". I don't think it took long for him to realize what all is here or not here. :eyeroll:

LOL... KCC had 0% of getting Hicks, 0....
Sorry that the top 3 picks for Knott all turned them down. Wonder if it was something they saw, how they were treated, or what they didn't see? Very hard to come from having everything, and come to the mountains for a "POSSIBLE" regional run. I believe that Justin was right to get out and go with Johnny Martin to Pike Central, Marin may only coach a couple years, then Justin will be their to take over for him. I also believe that Knott will end up staying in county to get someone now. If Rhett Gibson and Mrs. King can kiss and make up, I believe that he will have the reigns next season. If they can't, well maybe they will finally give the job to Coach Trent from Letcher, they have offered it to everyone else, they need to offer it to him and see how fast they have a coach. Good luck in getting a coach soon. Coach Spurlock may be interested in this job too, he did have some luck beating teams in the 14th, better than in the 13th that is for sure.
One other thought!!! Why hasn't the best coach in Knott County been contacted about this job! He has been Coach of the year several times and does a great job with the kids that he has. So why hasn't Coach Honeycutt, former KCC coach not been contacted to see if he would leave the warm confines of the Lion's Den and move back to the Patriot side of the county.
ive heard rumor has it that scott co coach is coming up for an interview today and he might be getting the job

Are you serious? DJ did Honeycutt dirty, twice. He wouldn't take that job, right now, if they threw in $100,000.

Already turned down the job.
Jeter_theman Wrote:LOL... KCC had 0% of getting Hicks, 0....

Actually I'd say they did seeing as how Hicks contacted KCC. Not the other way around.
If you think about KCC is not a bad job. Because of the difference in the 14th and 11th regions KCC should have a lot better chance of getting to Rupp Arena than SC. On the other had SC has a lot better chance of winning the Sweet 16 than KCC. If a good coach wants the best chance of being in Rupp next year KCC is the place to be.

your about 3 days late on that. he was up here tuesday,, turned it down yesterday.

Apparently Jeter has some sour apples with Knott. A wanna be player or coach??? Jeter needs to get some correct info. You did get one thing right though. Hicks did turn the job down. That is about all you have right. BTW who was the one who first told of Hicks in Knott Co. I think he has all of the info that we need.

Knott County does need a coach but the powers that be had better be highly selective. This will be the one year that knott has a good chance of making some noise. Who does everyone SERIOUSLY think should get the job. Leave politics and bad blood out of it - seriously.
Jeter_theman Wrote:LOL... KCC had 0% of getting Hicks, 0....

if you think that kcc had 0% chance of getting hicks,, then i have some ocean front property to sell ya over in quicksand. i would put it at about 25% at most,, but there was a small mutual interest on both sides,, well big interest on one side.

i may be new on here as most of my knowledge is with UK recruiting and the national collegiate recruiting scene. but i live in knott co and i talk to some pretty big people in the state that would know things.

Good to know.

I know a few people as well. Thast is why I know that this process they are taking with this is a joke. We are talking about these kid's future. This isn't the way to handle it. Politics is a bad bedfellow and they are sleeping with it. No good is coming of this.

the 25% i was talking about had to do with politics. knott co has ALWAYS been about politics when it comes to sports.

I don't really know who has applied for the job, but none of the names mentioned are any better coach than Rhett Gibson...the others have big names and coached at schools were they have several players to choose from (good players make coaches of sub-standard ability look good), but none of the big names I've heard mentioned for this job have any more knowledge or coaching ability than Coach Gibson, he was the last coach in Knott Co. to develop a first team all-state player both for the boys and girls team. He knows how to get the most from his players and he is the obvious choice for this job, but for some reason the powers that be would prefer to spend 5 times the money and get a coach of less ability. Personally, I would blame Coach Gibson, if the job was offered now, to tell them to shove it.

Rhett has already said if she offered it to him now, he would tell her to shove if up her fat ***. She is so stupid, I can't believe she thought she would actually get a coach from down state. She acts like she's giving them gold to come here and coach when she's just givin them one big headache. I would say some of here family will be coaching now because she has done screwed up for any decent coach to want it now.
boogieman Wrote:She is so stupid, I can't believe she thought she would actually get a coach from down state. .

I believe Rhett would still take it if offered. And I believe she went "UP STATE" to look for a coach. Knott is almost as far as you can go down state I believe.

you can't blame kim for doing a little coach shopping.
UKisN1 Wrote:According to the KHSAA site, Mr Stamper is the AD.

Stamper was fired from AD from what I heard, not sure how true it is though, he was a good AD. Stamper is the heart and soul of the team. No matter who the coach is expect the kid to bring the noise when season rolls around. Tate, well we all know what he can do, but write it down Stamper leads this team to rupp this year.
I'm tired of hearing about money, money, money, money, money. I just want to play the game, drink Pepsi, wear Reebok -Shaquille O'Neal

hicks solely purpose was to get a raise. i had heard earlier that there were a slim chance on hicks. now am hearing was only to get a raise out of scott co. woods has turned it down. rhett hasnt even been offered. bb king has been offered as has cavanaugh trent.

Supafuzz is only speculating. In reality, a raise had nothing at all to do with the decision. And yes, KCC had a very, very good chance at landing Hicks. I believe if not for the talent coming back to SC next year Hicks would be at KCC now. Hicks has expressed what a great coaching position Perry Co Central would be, because of the support of the administration. He had also told me at one time the North Laurel program is a sleeping giant. It is Hicks feeling that the right coach at NL could build a powerhouse. I could see him doing well at KCC. And as far as politics, Hicks has never been one to let anyone influence the way he coaches.
