Been watching and listening. New coach hasn't addressed team yet. Boys say he isn't leading weights in the days he is there just standing around talking. Trying to be positive in what has been a negative situation. Concerned. Not what our boys are use to. Have to say I'm not impressed yet. Hope there is more than meets the eye.

I am not shocked. He didn't even show up Thursday or Friday. Unreal

When I look back at the post, snapcat, HCS, redrocket........and other Bell is going to be fine, everyone wants to post negitivity? Is there still no concern as to what the hell this bunch in charge is doing. Who has ever taken a job and 3 weeks in has not addressed the team and skipped 2 weeks of practice. This WILL be proven to be a bad hire.

I'm just curious is this a million dollar coach or :what:

Is anyone concerned that since the players aren't lifting that they possibly get serious Injurys against teams that's been lifting and working out all year??? There has to be some kind of liability issue I would think!!!! Feel for the players

Great point and yes it has been discussed. Very concerning issue for sure.

How would you like your team to, not lift from Nov. - May, and skip spring ball? All you optimist and good hire posters, I ask you again, (redrocket replied) would you still have no concern about your team? Do you stand behind the statement," Bell will be Bell"," Bell will be fine"? :HitWall::HitWall:

We really have had silence from a lot of people. The voices will be heard once the season starts. They will be a lot fussing about losing ball games and then those in charge will be pointing fingers at others and say they had nothing to do with it.

At least you all have some pride in your team and support.

We already have one from the committee saying he had nothing to do with the hiring. John Brock Jr. He has said it numerous times. 5 people have a hand in this ,Mrs. Gilliam, Tom Gambrel, Richard Gambrel, Tom Lefevers and John Brock Jr.
I will make sure they are not forgotten with this.

Yes there is silence from a lot because they don't want to get on here and say things that will cause hard feelings by ex coaching staff and friends.

I really do not understand what you are saying, but I don't think that you are going to hurt anyones feeling on the previous staff. When all said and done Mills's record and success will have him having the last laugh. The next few years many will wish they had went another direction in administration, most already do. I will leave it at that.

Hind sight is 20/20 and karma has a funny way of showing itself. Seems to be a lot of it going around these days. What I am hearing the administration is soon to find this out at Bell County.

Spring Ball or Coach yet?

Has a staff been assembled yet? Who will it be?

Even the staunch supporters are now getting a little leery of the Coach Mac experience. From a couple of the parents I have talked to they are all questioning the whole deal now. This is not coming from the people with hurt feelings as snap like to say but parents of kids on the team.
Only 20 or so players are showing up. The Head man himself seems like he is not involved in the Coaching, just socializing. Like he is waiting for someone else to do. He is total opposite of what the HC's have been on Log Mountian EVER!! Time will tell but the hopes are diminishing. The kids deserve better.

I am hearing a lot of the same. Most disturbing is the kids leaving and one on home school. I heard Ray will be in Richmond, one of the twins went on homebound and will not be back. Worst of all, a couple have quit. Someone needs to pull this thing together, the two guys here now are not doing it.

I have heard the same things but hasn't sure it was true, so I didn't want to post.

Again.....what frustrates me the most about this is there were some coaches in the state and even in the are that we could have got. R. Frazier, G. Duncum, T. Hoskins the somerset coach was mentioned. I don't know all of these coaches and can't predict what they would have done but i can only think that we would have a coach in the building running practices and at least moving in a positive direction. BUT....the administration saw fit to hire a coach from out of state who was RETIRED and it looks like he might as well still be retired. Now our kids are suffering.

If they do well will you also give those five the credit?

Absolutely, let me give them some credit now...thanks for hiring a guy that thought more of his sick days than spring practice and weight lifting. Thanks for hiring a guy that still hasn't put together a staff. Thanks for hiring a guy that has failed to bring this team together to the fact that we have now to date lost 4 players that would have either started or had plenty of playing time. How is that?
We had the talent to be at least 7-3 next year. Who knows what players we will have when the time comes. This is not personal, I met coach , he is a great guy. I just wonder why he is here. He seems to be retired and finished with coaching. So nothing less than 7-3 to be successful, I promise you one thing....if we are, I will shake their hands and apologize here and to their face. They know who I am. So far things are not what one would want. Those five fired a guy for reasons not valid, if they were , why is he teaching? I give you one better, they have ask him to be an assistant!!!!!!!!! Our FAB 5 is the Blind leading the Blind.

I hadn't really kept up with this situation since they made an official hire, but this has been an absolute crap storm.
I have no interest in Bell or connections to Bell. But, I'm not really sure what the end result is going to be.
The importance of spring practice is vastly over done, in my opinion. You can get everything done in June that you need to install and teach. Hitting in spring doesn't make anyone tougher 3 months down the line. Is contact nice? Yeah, it's nice enough.
One thing I'm blown away with is the fact that the kids haven't been doing anything since the end of their season, apparently. They have to lead themselves in the absence of any coaches. And, anyone involved in athletics will tell you that a player led team is going to be better than a coach led team, every time. Some of those seniors should have stepped up and gotten lifts together. I've known of plenty of teams who had to replace a coach, and the players stepped up and led in the absence.
This isn't a statement against the kids, I'm just saying that I'm surprised that they didn't do anything. I would have thought the Bell culture would have led them to lift on their own.
One thing is for sure, Bell isn't the Bell of old. And that is obvious.

I do not want to argue with you, we have to much to worry about than this, but I can not agree with what you are saying. 10 practices means very little?
Coaches not needed to lead team, player lead is better? Most players have no clue about a weight programs. Not to mention the legal aspects of it.

I completely disagree...every chance you get to get reps is important when trying to develop teenagers! not to mention a new offense and defense and you think you can just throw those two things in there in a month??? i would hate to see the schemes of that defense and offense. Im all for simplicity but trying to get teenagers to learn a new system on both sides of the ball in a month thats stupid to even think.

I'm not trying to argue, but, literally, ask any coach on any level. Player led teams are ultimately what you want. They motivate themselves better, they inspire themselves better. I don't think you quite understood what I meant with player led. I'm not talking about player coaches here, I'm talking about the players taking the responsibility and ownership of the program more than coaches, and especially in the absence of coaches. Again, I promise you that any coach worth anything, will agree with me on that.
With spring practice in this state, you get what amounts to 5 full contact practices. We're really going to sit here and act like 5 full contact practices and 5 non-contact practices are just the defining factor in a good team? Football is still football. Install in June, and everybody is caught up now.
Kids can lift on their own. Guaranteed. Is there a gym within driving distance of the high school? Then those kids should have been there. I had 100% confidence that there would have been someone somewhere who could have and would have helped guide those kids. I have no doubt about that, at all.
Again, I'm not trying to argue, and I have no dog in this fight, but this whole situation seems crazy to me. And that crazy is involving everybody. Players, parents, admin, former coaches, fans and current coaches.
EDIT: Just for clarification, I've seen incredibly complex offense installed in 4 days. Period. It doesn't take months. It takes hours.

I do not know what you call complex. But this is laughable. There is not a simple let alone complex offense or defense that can be installed in HOURS that is the most ridiculous statement i have ever heard. Please humor me and tell me where you saw this hour offense installed and who was doing it i have to know. And if players on ANY level got it hours maybe you could tell me a little bit about this system i should be able to get a gist of it in MINUTES just by reading some about it.......Seriously tho lets hear about this.

Give me 2 days, and I promise I could teach any offense to Bell County. I'm not really sure what you are expecting the install to be, but, apparently it takes months. If it takes weeks to teach an offense, then someone is doing something wrong.
Whatever man, you do you.

not trying to argue man really not but if you can install any offense you're the best i have ever seen. I have been around a lot of great coaches and a lot of different levels and i have absolutely never seen anything installed that fast. Again not doubting you if you say so I'm inclined to take you at your word. However you are the best i have ever seen and i hope you're sitting in a really nice coaches office somewhere making a lot of money. Because i have seen some guys in those offices that can teach it in 2 days.
