Lawrence County 2014
How did LC lose a 7 on 7 to GC? Idk GC had any skill guys besides Byrd. Are they honestly that good or did LC just look flat?
Did LC dominate at Russell this evening with the best WR core in Eastern Kentucky?

They didn't go to Russell today. I think the 26th is Saturday. They had practice at the field today.
it is good to finally see all of the Lc athlete's that had stoped playing football come back together. Another great thing is that the community support is growing and coming back the way it use to be.

I think the community support was always there but you will lose all but the diehard football and Bulldog fans if the team is doing bad. We went through a lot of coaches and average years. The average casual fan will only take so many down years before they lose interest.
Lc looked very good today at Russell 7 on 7. They ran an A & B team and a freshman team. I watched the A team and they dominated Fleming County and Fairview, tied with Russell I think. As we all know whatever offense you run is determined by the line. Big Michael Johnson reminds me of Phillip Ratliff, he will be the anchor of the offensive line and should see some recruitment by several schools. Today LC used this 7 on 7 to run pass plays out of formation as opposed to a spread. Kiser was much improved from last week. He connected with a number of receivers. Dylan Simpkins, Noah Lambert, Luke Shaffer, Zach Berry, Avery Bowman and Morgan O'Brian. Simpkins, Shaffer, Lambert and O'Brian are going to be a handful when the season starts. Lambert and O'Brian turned 5 yard passes into big gains. Shaffer and Simpkins were able to make contested catches by overpowering the defenders. LC, like the majority of high school teams, is a 80/20 run vs pass team. They will definitely be able to keep the opposing team guessing with the right play calling. You can't wait till it is 4th and 20 to call a pass play. If they run 8-10 pass plays per game they should be very successful this season assuming they connect on 50%.
I hope the offensive line can hold up as long as the officials let them have to throw it today. That's not directed directly at Lawrence but man they let them have forever in the pocket. I didn't see much of LC but what I did see wasn't bad. They looked long at the skill position, I hope they're physical as well though. I didn't see much muscle on those boys.

I think there is a 5 second rule on this but I am not sure if the ref's were really timing this. Bowman, Berry, Lambert and O'Brian are small but very quick and very hardnosed. Shaffer and Simpkins are both over 6' and around 200 lbs.

I agree that Lawrence looked good today. They beat Fleming in overtime (Fleming scored in 3 plays, they scored in 2 plays). Fleming then beat them in the championship.
After talking to some people I see the confusion from yesterday. Apparently Lawrence and Fleming both had 2 teams in it. One team did dominate the Fleming County JV group. One group did beat Fleming's older group in OT. And then Fleming's older group beat one of Lawrence's group for the championship.
The Bulldogs are looking pretty good this. Lots of speed on that field....Morgan O Brien, Noah Lambert, Robert Dalton, Zack Berry. we have Austin Chaffin back he is very quick. Keesee and Shaeffer as linebackers are 2 not afraid to take down anyone. Kiser has a great arm lets hope he is allowed to use it more this year. Shaffer is up about 30 pounds and up to running the ball hard. Mikey Johnson and Alex Endicott going to anchor the O line. Things are looking up for a pretty good season
Anyone know of any scrimmages? Ive heard good things about the team and would like to see them in action ASAP.
Love hearing that LC is on the up and up. Especially the speed factor. Racelan, really the entire NEKY region needs better football. The better we all are, the better we can prepare for the playoffs. Would love seeing NEKY bring home a few titles. Ashland, Russell, Raceland, LC, and JC are very capable of doing so in the next alignment. Some r capable this year

The boys that were mentioned above were some of the boys I watched play during their youth years and O' Brian has speed on top of speed. Austin Chaffins is a heck of an athlete, he is very smart on the field.
Great news coming out of Camp Louisa. Good to hear.

Coach Cecil knows what he is doing. Coach Short is a heck of an offensive mind, and as most know was a standout QB in HS @ Lawrence then also at Campbellsville University.

I can promise you they know what to do, and when to do it. If they think they have the tools to pull the trigger on some things, they'll do it. You can't build a house with just a hammer or nails....you have to have both.
How is their size/speed upfront?
Scotty_Bronson Wrote:How is their size/speed upfront?

Not the biggest or smallest line the Dawg's have had, but pretty quick and experienced.
I love our schedule this year. All of our hard games are at home.
Belfry-home
Pike Central-home
Prestonsburg-home
Raceland-home
With the Dalton brothers at wide receiver and the rest of the speed and athleticism this team has this year there is no doubt the talent level is up. Can they put it all together? Sure look good so far. First day of contact is today. LC scrimmages at Russell Saturday.
Having Belfrey in your district makes things hard. But, imo if Lawrence finishes 2nd in the district, wins 2 of the Belfrey, Raceland, PCC, and Pburg games and ends up playing for a regional title their seasonhas been a success. Especially if they can play to within 2 scores of Belfrey. Belfrey was youg last year, VERY young by Belfrey standards. They are going to be very hard to slow down over the next few years. Good luck to the Bulldogs. Always have been and always will be one of my fav teams from around here. Unless they play my beloved Rams of course!

We have had fast players before, but it was always like maybe 2 or 3 guys with enough speed to stand out. The Bulldog team that will take the field this season may have the most all around speed spread all over the field that we have ever had.

I usually dont believe a lot of the hype on here but with the players that I know that are out you are absolutely right.
TTT Any times for the scrimmage at Russell Saturday?
Pick Your Poison!!!!!!!!!!!!
Scrimmage is August 12th Tuesday at 7:00
can someone please give an update. Has anyone quit? Are practices going good? any info would be appreciated. Go DAWGS!
Can't wait 2 watch this D against all these spread teams.
This team will led the state in interceptions.
Also this will be one of the fastest D.LC has ever had.
A lot of new skill players on this team.
Barring any key players lost this team will play for region championship.
Went to meet the dawgs scrimmage and was impressed. Varsity offense was crisp. Very balanced with a big and quick line. Cole Mosely, Dylan Simpkins, Morgan O'Brian were very impressive. Simpkins seems to have finally figured out he cannot run laterally and turned up field much sooner. Kiser very sharp at Qb. Lineman Mike Johnson has surprising speed. The tight end Shafer is a beast and very quick, making multiple blocks on each play. On defense Devon Perry was very impressive. Put him and Shafer as inside LB's and it is a long night for opposing running backs. Barring injury and the defense making plays, this could be an extremely good year for LC. They have the offensive tools to compete. Time will tell on the defense. Lot of secondary not reacting. But in fairness some of the best defensive players were on offense. There also seemed to be some confusion on defensive sets and substitutions but might be lack of reps. There was no confusion on offense. They were on a mission and executed it very well. Boyd may be going to a spread but the LC ground game will chew up massive amounts of clock. They also are very well conditioned as they were on the field for over 2 hours and not a water bottle in sight. No coolers, fans, misters, squirt bottles, etc. but they did not let up or cramp up.
