but defense doesn't compare.

they have some good defensive lineman that gave us a little trouble in the first half but overall yea we are way better... honestly we have players thats on the bench that if they were on another team they would be getting huge numbers possibly getting all state recognition..

Easy big fella!!! Don't get to happy.

Winning big against Madison Southern and Harlan City are not that impressive?

Rock was pretty competitive for KC according to the score.

This is a Bell/Knox thread buddy, that'll be next weeks talk, We take one game at a time. Enjoy that STATE CHAMP though for the next couple weeks, cause you might not get to keep it in a couple weeks...just sayin...!

Just a question...Where were all these weapons the first time we played you?

Knox is a good team, I'll give them that, IMO the best team Bell has played all season, but just not as good as Bell. Next year I'll be cheering you all on all the way, a lot of good folks up in Knox County and Football 1 is one of my favorites on BRG! But I'm picking Bell to win this game!! These Bell boys are focused and know what they want and have been only getting better!! And a group of seniors that don't ever give up, what a GREAT group of leaders!!!

Bell 35
Knox 14

This will be a great game!!!

Well said and agreed to by this Bell fan!!!
What's that I hear....
something faint....
in the distance.....
something ringing maybe???

RING THAT BELL FOR DUDLEY!!!
I agree that Knox is one of the better teams that Bell has played this year. If you look at the playoffs, Bell has beaten 3 teams that are playing for regional titles this friday, JC, HC, and Knox. Hopefully 2 of those teams win. Sorry, Knox, you will have to wait til next year.
mommacat Wrote:Just a question...Where were all these weapons the first time we played you?

I was wondering the same thing. Surely you don't expect us to believe that Coach Mills was holding back the first time when it was for the district title, and homefield advantage in the playoffs.:please:
I will definately be in log Mtn on Friday pulling for KC. But as for my prediction, Bell 14-0
William Muney Wrote:Boyle Co. is next week for 1 of these teams. No need to wish our lives away. I would hope most fans will save that talk for Next weekend.

KC comes in a decent underdog in my mind. Not sure if our schedule has helped us prepare any for Bell????

I would like to see Turpin get more carries? Can't figure out why Bailey is back their so much.

lol. Not sure if I would take any of your posts seriously anymore! What was your prediction for last weekend?

Nov 12, 10 Rowan County away 49 - 36 (W) no Class 4A KHSAA

Neither team seems to have been challenged since the last meeting but it seems Bell has played a tougher schedule since. The speed of the game really hurt us in the first meeting and I see nothing we have done since to prepare us.

Oh, Knox was challenged. Up 35-24 at Rowan, RC with the football at the KC 21. 4th and inches...RC got a bad spot (IMO) to turn it over on downs. If Bell can throw the football half as well as they can run it, Bell will name the score. Lots of holes in that KC pass D.
Jeffery is a great football player but I don't think he needs to be in the backfield. IMO Turp, Bailey or Gist could have 200+ against Rowan on Friday. They played ZERO run defense. Bell will punish ball carries and IMO Jefferey will not be able to hold up against them.

With Jeffery at RB it makes us very predictable...even more than before. Bell has a great defense and being predictable will make what is a great challenge even harder.
HD28 Wrote:lol. Not sure if I would take any of your posts seriously anymore! What was your prediction for last weekend?

I said we would win easily, which we did. What was yours? If not for the late TD by Rowan it would have been 49-29.
Let's make a few things clear. Bell County is the team to beat in the mountains. For the past 5 years they have dominated mountain football unlike any before. By all means they are expected to win this game, as they should be any game they go into. No one can discredit the ability of Coach Hilton and his team. As a Knox fan, and a fan of high school football, I have nothing but complete respect for the Bell County program. But to say that your bench has "all state" caliber players on it, thats hard for me to believe. To think Knox can't compete with you guys, can't match up, doesn't have the athletes, is a strong mistruth.

Going back to 2008, Knox and Bell met in the 3rd game of the regular season at Knox where Bell came out a 21-0 victor. Bell went on to dominate the rest of there schedule. Scoring 484 points and only giving up 14 through there next 9 games. Knox went 8 and 1 through thier next 9. The two went on to meet in the Region championship, where Bell won the game on their final possesion. Bell goes on to win the 4A State Championship. This game is shaping up so similiar to that one. The regular season game ended with a near identical result. Both teams since have went on to dominate their schedules.

Now with all that being said, the biggest difference I can see going into this game is Jeffery Canady. Anyone who saw the regular season game may have drew the conclusion that Jeffery was in shock and awe of Bell County, that he was "scared". Having been around this kid for a few years now I can tell you that fear doesn't exist in his vocabulary. He's confident in his abilities, as he should be. In the regular season game, the KC offensive scheme only allowed Jeffery a few touches. I look for that to change going into this one, Coach Mills and Russell know that you have to give your best athletes the oppurtunity to shine. Canady, if giving the chance to, will shine. He will be the best athlete on the field Friday night, Davenport included.

I expect KC to get Canady going early, and in the most creative ways possible. KC edges Bell 21 to 14.
If not for the late TD you scored as well? Rowan County won the second half, and Wing was the best player on the field. Period. It was a great game, but let's not make it seem like KC dominated the defensive side of the football. They gave up nearly 500 yards of offense and 36 points. And, I did not make a prediction other than to say it would be MUCH closer than many thought. I believe I hit that one...

That is a sobering observation. I have watched this group of seniors at Bell for 10 years and they are a special crew for sure. JD defines that linebacker position in this defense. Davenport may be the best ball carrier in the eastern US (Yeah, I know somebody will quote a stat to disagree with me but stats tell nothing of this kids ability because his team doesn't hand him the rock 30 times a game).

I know this team has made my son better and the rest of the Knox players as well. We have been routed by them a time or two (or three), especially in the those painful days when Catron would carry 5 for 5 touchdowns and 300 yards. Painful memories. But as the years have rolled and Coach Mills and Martin drew blood and sweat on practice fields and weight rooms - we have closed the gap, some. Is it enough? Friday will tell that tale.

Seeing these young men get an opportunity to pour their hearts out on a field rich with a winning tradition in front of thousands of friends, family, neighbors and onlookers for the best coach in Kentucky against his up and coming protege is a rare blessing that I hope will draw folks closer to their Maker. Kids don't get to this stage alone. Pick any one of the starters for each team and you will find thousands of hours of practice, training, and games where family and coaches have invested tremendous time to transport them, bandage their hurts, catch a few tears, celebrate the wins and learn from the losses together. This should remind us all of what a kid can do when those standing behind him make the sacrifice to help him (or her) be great. Man, I love this game! Go Panthers. And if we lose (not likely, but stranger things have happened...LOL) Go Bobcats.

You talk like we should be embarrased that Rowan scored on us. They have one of the best QB's in the state. One of the best RB's in the state. An o-line the size of an apartment complex and were 10-1 coming into that game. They scored more on our Defense than Bell did. Maybe, they are just a real good team that got beat by and even better team?

I know you didn't make a prediction but that don't make you smart... that just makes you afraid to go on record (not saying you ain't smart). This doesn't prove our D is weak so much as it proves what most already knew - RC has an awesome offense that was able to show up even against a great defense.

Usually on the same page with you but have to disagree here. Canady is capable of playing every offensive skill position. Putting him at tailback just means he could run it, catch it, throw it, or block for it from there. Now you have to defend all that instead of just double covering him at reciever position.

RC's QB will remind you of Madon. They are both excellent. We indeed will have to have a balanced plan of attack on D to stop the run and pass. I think Madon is better than RC's QB due to his better running game and a more skilled O-line. Just increases the challenge for us... nothing new about that.

1 disagreement is not bad for an entire season. I always like the thoughts of 2 people guarding 1. We have no other threat outside with Jeffery not in the WR postion. They can concentrate on the running game just like they did against Johnson Central and Jude!
To Knox fans. I think Canady would be better for you guys at WR. Bell has stopped ALL good RB's this year.

Jude-Johnson Central (got some yards at the end against our JV, Varsity held him to 70 yards)
Rowe-Rock (23 carries for 54 yards)
McMillan-Harlan Co (12 carries for 28 yards)
James-Lawrence Co (27 yards)

Listen if knox wants to win, Canady needs to be on the field somewhere other than TB.. why u ask bc in the first game he went out at least 4 or 5 times now he may have been sick, but its BELL CO put up or shut up.. now the kid has talent but if he plays TB, mark my word the kid will not be a factor, and IMO if he cam out at WR i see no difference in this game.. coaches fred hoskins and Tom Greer are 2 of the best in the business at stopping the run.. but i cant wait nothing better than a big rival..
