64TH District next year.

A 12 year old child doesn't, and shouldn't have a say in transferring from one school to another. Parents make decisions based on what they think is important. I send my children to RH because they receive a quality education in a Christian environment. That is what is important to me.

Shouldn't a christian education begin in the home? Confusedhh:
School and church should reinforce what the child is learning at home!

Do you have firsthand knowledge that this kid made that decision?

Is she eligible to play this season?

So, what are you trying to say? That Ashland is an Atheist School? Let's face it, Ashland should have a pile of recruiting violations over the last two years.

I will have to disagree, shouldnt your high school years be fun and you should enjoy it while making good grades. Some of these kids enjoy playing sports and may have friends at these other schools. The christian education is great but should you punish your kids and make them stay there if they want to go to another school.

I didn't realize dedicating your life to Christ was punishment.

I may be wrong, but I would be shocked to ever see McKenzie playing varsity basketball again. This move is motivated by softball. It's a shame.

Not what I meant, just dont feel like you have to go to a christian school to be a christian.

Yeah, but it helps to be a Christian if you are at a Christian School.

I agree and echo your post. Kids should be able to have fun and make parental decisions about life. Last year's seniors showed them the way on how to party and have fun. Great role models and wonderful influences on underclassmen. Having fun sure has won regional titles the last 2 years.....whiipppeeeee. Something is very wrong (between the ears) when Juniors and Seniors want to hang around with 7th and 8th graders. Whoever wants to send their children to a menagerie does not have to drive to Columbus.

You do not have to go to a Christian school or a church for the matter to be a Christian, do you?

My daughter played softball on a travel team with her, she's a pretty good player, I didn't realize she played basketball. I wonder if she will play for verity?
The Maroon Pelican Wrote:Unofficially, Mandy Layne has been named the new coach at Russell. Congrats to Mandy, she was an outstanding player for the Kittens and then for the Comets. The 64th District just got more interesting, who will be the next coach at Fairview? Will Rex stay in-house or will he go outside the westwoodian borders?

Since Steve Cook (Fairview Boy) has been coaching the Kittens behind the scenes, he may be a logical choice for replacing Mandy. He would probably have a few of the Lil Kittens follow him as well. Confusedhh:

I know Mandy, she is a good coach i wish her the best
not sure why everybody is leaving rosehill, but the bigger question is how come they all are transferring to ashland only? maybe they see the writing on the wall about who should own this part of the state for the next 5 years or so. since ashland has some good players in every class all the way down to this years in coming 7th graders.
Doris Schutt Wrote:So, what are you trying to say? That Ashland is an Atheist School? Let's face it, Ashland should have a pile of recruiting violations over the last two years.

What an accusation! Doris, I'd love to get a PM from you to support your statement, with facts and not just opinions. If I receive no PM I will assume that you have no verifiable proof.
You adults are acting like a bunch of parents that never made a team in High School Varsity sports. Give it a rest already.
mychildisavictim Wrote:Do you have firsthand knowledge that this kid made that decision?

You need to go back and read my post, #91. I didn't say the child made the decision. I said the decision was made by the parents. The little girl could not have transferred without the parents allowing it.
I am not even saying it is the wrong thing in the situation. This just puts the parents in the same category as those who have transferred before them.
Boy, the summer must really be boring if this is all you have to talk about. A middle schooler. This isn't Emily Queen were talking about here. If more of you had actually played basketball past grade school this would be relevent. This has nothing to do with the DISTRICT this year whatsoever. What is she going to do average 1 pt. a game for you like the last transfer.
Mugshot Wrote:I may be wrong, but I would be shocked to ever see McKenzie playing varsity basketball again. This move is motivated by softball. It's a shame.

She will be able to come in immediately and help with softball. I don't know her well enough to say if she is going or not going to play basketball. Time will only tell.

Once you leave Rose Hill you will be considered an "outcast" the school/parents or kids will probably never have anything nice to say about you. Just read the above post, it doesn't matter if it's softball, basketball good luck to you McKenzie over to Ashland. We have gained a great kid/parents.
You may be right but I would think that it is how a parent and student leave the school that would determine how they are treated. Rose Hill is not the only place that student/athletes transfer from.

what does emily queen have to do with this, you never know what this young girl ability maybe. you at rosehill have the arrival of kayla faulkner to thank for the success you had that year. to be able to get the ball up and down the court and help take some pressure off of emily. so don't be upset now that players are leaving rosehill to a better situation

Exactly.
Who is looking good so far in summer ball?
Ashland looking good and is undefeated in the Raceland league even though Coach Bradley is splitting his top 6 players for the 2 nightly games. This gives the younger players a lot of chances to play with the veterans and allows the seniors to show their leadership by playing with the yong ones. IMO Good move by Bradley.........
Yes we did! Ashland goes undeafted in the Aries League and will for sure repeat as District champs this upcoming year. Fairview and Rose Hill looked about the same as last year, dont know about Boyd. Good luck to all the girls!

Agree, I thought we looked great and will repeat. Did not see Boyd at all this summer. Both Rose Hill and Fairvew looked thin.
Where was Boyd? Who is gone from Boyd, for sure, from middle school and high school?
