Probably not....totally different thing my friend. No matter who the team is the atmosphere will be better if the team is having success and has high expectations, it really has nothing to do with it being Harlan or anyone else. The team has given the community something to look forward to and that is a great thing. At least if Harlan wins it can not be said that I did not think Harlan could beat Breathitt. I wish everyone the best of luck that goes to this game and I hope it turns out the way you want it to.
We Black Bear fans will be as loud as it gets throughout the entire game, when the tide is going our way and even when it isn't. I for one probably won't be able to speak the next day. If you look up in the home side stands and see a crazy woman screaming like a crazed banchie then entire game, that will probably be me.....and I figure to see a whole lot more "crazy screaming banchies" Friday night. Come on Bear Nation....let's show em all what a home crowd sounds like. WHOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! I absolutely cannot wait for Friday.

Harlan Co. should have way to much defense. I do not think it will be a blow out but the Bears will win pretty handily. Good luck to both.

Ok i do agree harlan will win. But, why in the world would the fans make a difference in the game. You sure know your football. psh!

The thing about adrenaline is that if you get that sudden boost, there is usually a downward spiral in energy levels as the game goes on.

How good is the Breathitt County QB? Is he big enough to take some hits?

Mama Bear Wrote:We live week to week here. Not worried about next year. We're focused on beating Breathitt Friday night at 7:30PM. Coach Larkey has a talented group of young Bears moving up through the ranks. There's no indication to think that we want be as strong next year or years to come. I think this Breathitt game will be a good measuring stick to see where we are. Remember this is the first year these kids have ever played together and are adjusting to a new Coach and a new philosophy. The Bear Nation is only getting larger! :letsparty
Regardless of what happens Friday night, Breathitt County's football program is always a force to be dealt with.
could not have said it any better!

I know that sometimes us Harlan countians can seem a little cocky about our football team if you wanna say it that way, but we're just awfully proud of them boys and what this SCHOOL is bringing to our county, not just the football squad, but everything surrounding this school. It's great to have a football team like this, and I'm just looking forward to hearing about the game friday night. It will be a good test to see how good they are, but the teams Harlan have played are NOT that horrible of football teams, I don't know why everyone keeps saying that. Sure they're probably not TOP ranked teams, but they're good quality football teams.
I have a feeling that HC won't get any respect until NEXT season when they're placed in the 5A class, which is beyond me, its not the boys fault that they were placed in the class. They deserve to win, just like every other team out there that places on Friday nights. Just remember, we've got seniors boys that are on this team and this is their last game against a certain team, each night they step out there it'll be their last HS fball game on Sept 26th (etc.) and they deserve to win just as much as that senior on the opposite team does. Give a TEAM the respect they deserve, regardless of the situation.
K I'm done for the night haha!

Breathitt..Well because they are suppose to win...Tradition is hard to stop, especially when you are a first year school. Breathitt is struggling so far in this early season but I see them pulling out a win against a tough Black Bear team! Best of luck to both schools!!!

I was not referring to you, I know quite a few people that have said those exact words to me ("I don't respect them till they play in the right class"), face to face with me, so I know that there are some people that don't respect them...So sorry you misunderstood that I was meaning you, I wasn't singling you out...there is people that have said it though.

Sadly, I won't be attending this one, it breaks my heart not to be there and support them, but I already have an engagement with the womens group of my church and will be away from football pretty much all weekend :booo: but I know there will be plenty of fans there for BOTH sides of the field, wish both teams luck and I know it will be a good game!

He seems to be doing the same thing his brother did as far as the way their QB1 careers go. Justin Haddix did the same thing as far as struggling with inconsistency his first year @ QB1 and he also was a Junior. Justin adjusted his Senior year and led the Bobcats to their 3rd State title. I hope it does not take Jade until next year to adjust and become consistent, but both he and Channing Fugate are Juniors and the WR core is young, so I think that by the end of the season they will be alright.

I pick the bears by 16 because they are hungry and want that first big home game to hurry up and get here. This team is definitely overlooked and underrated in my opinion. I watched them early on in their first ever game and they were a few plays away from beating LCC in their opener. Larkey has done a fine job with those boys and he's a real leader. People forget that most of these boys have played together back in Junior High and they were a force to be dealt with back then. Winning is an attitude and I think they are there and that's because of leadership. Breathitt is not nearly as good as people thought they would be, kind of disappointing after all of the build-up early as to how good this team would be. Harlan has jumped up and made people realize that their is a new kid in town and they mean business and if Breathitt doesn't go in their with some respect they will get beaten worse than I originally said.

They typically play better on the road because of the intensity that a road game brings. They have been in more "big" games than has Harlan and know that they have to be ready. Breathitt will not be an easy win by any stretch of the imagination and if they can put together four quarters of consistent football, they will win by 2-3 TD's, but if they continue to play with their heads up their a......, they will be beaten and will be the 2 seed in the playoffs. I think people are more indifferent with the Harlan program than disrespectful. Mercer County was in the same situation that Harlan is in this year in regards to playing with a 5A roster in 3A and they won the title and to this day people do not think they earned it fairly. So I do not think Harlan will get the respect the team and fans think they should have until they compete against schools that are in their class.....

Bears will win! The emotions they played with in Letcher County for their first game will be multiplied by a thousand. They will be strong in front of their Home crowd for the firs time as Black Bears. And the Black Bear Nation will be multiplied by two thousand it will be great! As for the schedules or how they line up on paper unless you are taking that paper and making a little triangle footballs and holding your fingers up for field goals like kids do in the cafeteria that paper means nothing. Grit, strength, a little luck, and a whole lot of enthusiasm will win this game for the Bears!

The Black Bears play their biggest game of the year every game. You are correct, the Black Bear Nation will be huge tomorrow night, probably several thousand. The enthusiasm will be great. I expect the Bears Defense will be on that QB quickly and on him all night. He will not be happy. If I could only close my eyes and it be 5 o'clock tomorrow when i open them. GO BEARS!!!
