"NO LESS THAN :00.3 must expire on the game clock when a player secures possession of an inbounds pass and then attempts a field goal. If less than :00.3 expires in such a situation, the timer will be instructed to deduct AT LEAST :00.3 from the game clock. If less than :00.3 remain on the game clock when this situation occurs, the period is over, and the field goal attempt will be disallowed immediately whether successful or unsuccessful."

It goes on to say that a "tip in" or deflection can occur with a minimum of :00.1 on the clock.
Where did you find this at?
01-27-2008, 01:17 AM
It may be that rule but I'm just proving a point to whomever thinks it's 0.4 seconds. That is not at true. So in high school it probably takes the clock operator 0.3 tenths to start the clock so you have almost 0.6 seconds to shoot.

There has been several posts about non calls and I was just wondering how when a team goes to the line 33 times and the number of fouls called that what non calls that there was would even be an issue!!
Again, Paintsville played great and that have a great team and good luck at the state All -A
But Paintsville didn't go to the line 33 times, they shot 33 free throws, BIG difference. Pikeville shot alot more free throws than Shelby Valley lastnight, so what do you think they have to say abot that.

Yeah, that would be completely ridiculous, UNLESS everyone agreed they were indeed fouls, lol, but we all know that would never happen no matter who the team was.

Obviously none of those things happened but those were IMO the deciders.
You know...I am sorry...But I just get sick every time I see a post from you about the Tigers and Panthers.
First give credit where credit is due. The Panthers came to this tourney ready to play. The way I look at it. SV and the Tigers didn't play bad. Pike made them play the way they wanted them to play. Coach Williams did his homework and taught his team. Yes, BIG D should have fouled out earlier. They called a foul on #3 when he wasn't even near the play and Big D was the one who was blocking the shot attempt.
Second..Walker needs to learn when the **** a coach is talking to him or a player. He did it last night to Coach Williams then turned around and did it to Coach Runyon tonight, when he was clearly talking to Slone.
Third...The Tigers showed some guts tonight and showed what it takes to put them to that level that everyone has been talking about. They NEVER gave up. They always had faith and kept digging. Congrats to the Tigers.
And Yes....this is no longer a 2 hosre race!

This game had it all! A half court 3, A dunk, and a near fight. My Panthers played tough tonight but when 3 starters foul out and you have three sophonores on the floor against a good team like Paintsville its gonna be tough to win. Im proud of the boys and Coach W they showed this weekend that the top 2 teams in the regoin have more than each other to watch out for.

Great game is all I can really say. Congrats to Paintsville and BMR for never quitting and my hat goes off to Coach Williams and his Panthers. The game started rather sluggish for both teams I thought after 1 with the Tigers up 14-10, but from that moment on until about 4mins in regulation it was all Pikeville.
I felt Bart Williams did a great job of slowing down the tempo which took Paintsville out of their usual fast-paced type offense. Also, a good job of finding the open spots inside the perimeter and having a player flash to the open spot to get an easy jumper or have someone use a back cut or make a move to get an easier shot. Clevinger, Honaker and Adams all played HUGE for Pikeville. I thought Adams on the defensive end was a game changer and gave Paintsville fits underneath the goal about all night. As for the shot with 0.3 seconds...IDK if it is physically possible, but anyone who makes a shot from that far should have it count. In the second half, the Panthers struggled with the defensive pressure from Paintsville that cost them dearly with turnovers.
As for Paintsville, they had a horrible shooting night. I think I heard 19-61 from the field (I'm no mathematician but close) which is under 33% and only 3-25 for 3pts. which is only 12%. A very rare occurrence, but is attributed to the defensive effort by Adams and crew. I think Paintsville showed a lot of growing up and heart as opposed from a year ago by fighting hard to get back into the game. They really turned up the tempo on defense and showed the doubters that they can play on both ends. Landon had an excellent game and really took over in the 4th and through the overtime periods. One person who doesn't get a lot of credit that I felt played big all game was Blake Bundy. He finished the game with 12pts. but made good passes and several key offensive rebounds when the Tigers needed them. Congrats to Coach Runyon for getting the guys fired up and never for a second allow them to quit....hopefully you and the Tigers can go to EKU next week and get the one title you lack in your Hall of Fame career...and that being the All "A" State Championship. You have the School, the city of Paintsville, and safe to say the entire 15th Region cheering you and your team on....go get it coach.
Now in conclusion, Paintsville is a good team...and showed it because good teams always find a way to win close games. Pikeville is a lot better than what people give them credit for, Coach Williams has his team playing very good right now. As many of you have said, it is definately no longer a 2-team race for March...going to be very interesting. Thanks to both Paintsville and Pikeville on an excellent game tonight.

There is a reason why you play 30 games before you enter district tournament play. In reality they are all just practice games used to develope players in an effort to get them better. Seems like Pikeville is picking up a lot of steam. Bart has always made defense his first priority since he took over the Pikeville program, not offense. Could Pikeville now be considered the team to beat based on the momentum they are building, and with their rapid improvement? How good will they be a month from now? Losing Taylor Newsome may be a bigger blow to SV than they realize. It's not how good you are when you go down state in December and play in those holiday tournaments. It's not how good you are when you play in the "All A" in Richmond. Ultimately what defines your season is how much you have learned from playing your first 30 games and how you apply that knowledge. It all comes down to how good you are entering that last week in February. Looks to me like Pikeville may be the team to beat.
Could be a real interesting post season.

Clevinger is definately one of the top 5 players in the region, the heart and soul of the Panthers. ALOT of missed AND bad calls on BOTH sides. Adams should have fouled out about halfway thru the 3rd. Bell and Honaker got fouls called on them that Adams committed. NIETHER team deserved to lose, they fought hard teh entire game even when things weren't goin their way. There is no way Clevinger got the shot off before halftime with only .3 seconds left on the clock. Clevinger and Honaker both had great games, as did Bell on the defensive end. Landon and Grimm had great games, Bundy didn't score much but played a great game on both ends. Murray and J.D. both stepped it up in the 4th and in the OT's. All I can say is, I can't wait for March, it is no longer a two team race. Good post!!
Congrats to Bart and the Panthers on a great tourney.

It doesn't matter anyway dude. You could make a list of 10 as to why either team should've won or why they could've won and it is just what-if stuff. The point is that these things are over and done with now. The game was won by Paintsville because they out hustled Pikeville down the stretch and did what they had to do. You could be right! But why so negative against Paintsville all the time. You think that if SV doesn't win the world stops. Well they didn't win the All A and Paintsville did. That doesn't mean as you have previously posted that SV will now win the Region because they have before. Truth is that any of several team could somehow win the Region. Things happen and they aren't always what you want them to be. Paintsville could win the Region this year as could SV or Pikeville or any other good team. If your team doesn't come out on the night they need to and get it done, they lose. It doesn't matter who they are or how good they are supposed to be.

Everyone has been talking about calls that was made, that should have been made on a different player, missed calls, ect. I wasnt to make a comment on the calls, and this one is not a judgment call. It is wrote in the rules solid as can be. Baker was at the free throw line in the first OT. Hit the first one. The ref hands him the ball. The ref backs up away from Baker so he can shoot it. Bill Mike who was roughly 45-50 foot away from the ref that handed Baker the ball tells one of his players when he wants a time out with another ref less than 5 foot away. The first ref blows the whistle, runs back to the free throw line, takes the ball away from Baker, and gives Paintsville the TO. My argument is once he gives the player the ball for the free throws, the other team CAN NOT call a time out until after he shoot is. The ref that gave Baker the ball to shoot is the same one who called the TO and took it away from Baker. The end result, Baker missed the second free throw, Pikeville was up by 2 at the end of the first OT. Baker may or may not have hit the second if he wasnt iced during the time out. But it allowed Landon to drive down, get a rebound and a put back to tie it up for the second OT. Being down 2 with seconds to go is different than being down 3 which might or might not have have been what happened.
