WHAT? Three free throws. That is unheard of. I have never seen a team just shot three free throws. I was not at this game but I have been in this long enough to know that SV might have got the shaft in this one. I cannot believe that. Did SV not take it to the whole at all? I think that officials need to be held accountable on games they call. We need to pay them more and have someone review games in question. Until then we will continue to see bad calls. SV need to remember this one and get back into the gym ready to work. I think they started thinking that they couldn't get beat. How was the player that got a 'T'.

Pikeville is a district rival of SV, enough of one that they did a little bit of storming the court after their win a week ago, so I doubt they were "overlooked", especially in a win or go home tournament...The first half SV played well and hard.
Which brings me to my next point - Pikeville was getting good shots the first 1 1/2 quarters but they weren't falling. They controlled the pace with varying defenses and a solid half-court offense, but had trouble scoring, so they fell behind by 10.
Then halfway through the 2nd, shots started falling and at halftime SVs lead was 1.
Pikeville came out strong at the beginning of the 3rd, pulling slightly ahead. And then SV was thrown into a position they rarely, if ever around here, get into. They had to come back from a second half deficate against a good team. This IMO made them very uncomfortable, so they took ill-advised 3-pointers and made bad passes. Pikeville did a resonable job sealing the deal.
Many of you are saying that the Technical of Bryant was very big...It may have been a factor, but IMO it really wasn't game-changing - Pikeville was up by 6 and had the ball when the fouls occurred, and gained only 4 points, as they turned it over on the possession after the free throws.
IMO Pikeville and SV are on the same playing field...The only advantage I would give would be to SVs closing - If they have a 4 point lead and the ball at any point in the 4th quarter, they win (because this is the situation they are most comfortable in).
It causing them to have a ten point lead is huge in the 4th quarter in a game like this. That can take the air out of a team.

No they didn't they were content to shoot the three ball.

I still think after all the smoke is cleared, Pikeville was better prepared for Valley. I think in the back of my head that Valley has been preparing for Paintsville instead of Pikeville. This win showed Pikeville that they can play with and rise above Valley, which is important because the third showdown between the two teams is coming up in less than a week with the potential #1 seed in the district at stake.

Someone mentioned earlier that Hatfield will dominate in two years. When you take Taylor away from Ashley, he is not nearly as good as people think. IMO that is what Valley's problem is, Taylor is hurt so Valley has no one on the inside to complement Ashley. Early on in the season if this game was played and Valley was down I do not think you would have seen all these 3's. Valley would have had the ability to take Adams out of his game by fronting the post with Ashley and having Taylor on his backside making the Guards of Pikeville do their thing making it a back court battle on Pikeville's offensive end. I am telling you right now, with the loss of Taylor I really think Valley is going to have one heck of a time making it to Rupp this year. I honestly have a feeling Valley will lose district and have to play Paintsville in the first round and what a battle that would be.
Good Job Pikeville and congrats
To Valley keep your heads up, come back strong and for gods sake don't take so many threes. Your a great ball team and you know what it takes to win work the ball inside, outside work the ball around and most of all make it all happen on defense

First off I feel that Bart had his kids way more prepared for Valley than Valley for Pikeville. Secondly if Pikeville went to the basket there was a foul call and if Valley did it was a no call every single time. Pikeville was way more aggressive and rough on defense than Valley was, but still managed to shoot 21 more free throws? No one will admit it on here because Valley is hated, but they got the shaft...
But... That is part of the game in eastern Kentucky. A good team has to rise above, not lay down and quit. I agree that Pikeville did want it more than Valley, but all other variables were not equal. I would be happy to sit down and watch the game film with anyone that says it was fairly officiated. I would have love to have seen the kids decide this one on their own. Either way it isn't their fault, good luck tonight Panthers.

We can watch it on WPRG or the tape I made from the other side of the gym than PRG was on. Both teams got called for stuff, both teams got away with stuff. I think part of the difference was the attitude of the players. Every foul against Valley, they was questioning the refs. Fouls against Pikeville the players accepted it and walked away. Attitudes wont win you much respect or breaks from the refs.

Congratulations Pikeville! Great job!
For everyone's information, Elisha has had a virus and has been very sick. He had to go have an IV on Friday because he was so dehydrated and some of the other boys weren't feeling so well. These are great kids and they always come to play hard and I hear people insinuating that they are arrogant and just thought that they would beat Pikeville and this is not the case. These are great young men, most of them are Christians and they are a wonderful example of how young men should act. There are a few that can be arrogant at times but overall they are an awesome group of boys. Please refrain from making judgment calls about their attitudes when you don't even really know them. They can't play great games every single time and I wish people would stop putting so much pressure on them, especially when they don't know all of the circumstances. Keep your heads up Cats and continue to work hard like you always do!

I am not trying to take anything away from the kids... I think Pikeville stepped up, especially Devon and Matt. I mean seriously though 24-3, and don't say it was because Pikeville took it to the hole and Valley didn't... In a game that rough I still can't believe that we were not shooting alot of bonus free throws. If you didn't feel that things were unequal you wouldn't have been so quick to defend...

Typical. Sorry, no shaft in this one. Bottom line, Valley was looking ahead to Paintsville and Williams had a game plan in place to prevent that from happening. It worked!

I am not trying to make this a page long discussion because all I am saying is that last night one team was allowed to play physical and one team got touch fouls called on them. That is not the way it should be. At one point Logan was guarding Matt and the referee counted to 5 seconds, blew his whistle and gave Bart a timeout... Bart said that he didn't call timeout and the official looked at Bart and said its either a timeout or 5 seconds and then Bart said timeout... That is not the way it should be.

I do think Valley was looking ahead and I don't know why. I wish people would realize that I didn't say the officials were the reason that Valley lost the game, but they were a factor. Valley laid down.

Valley beat Pikeville on their own floor a week ago. Pikeville wasnt saying the refs were the blame for the loss. Pikeville beats Valley on a neutral floor and it was the refs fault. If Pikeville wins on their floor, what is it going to be that game. Pikeville wanted last nights game more than Valley did so they took it. Valley didnt play a good game and they lost. Why not leave it at that?
