Somerset will no longer play Pulaski and Southwestern in Football

And the great thing is that doesn't matter whatsoever. Pulaski win's and they're suppose to, Somerset wins and PC just got beat by a 2a school with less population to pull from and who DIDN'T make a formidable state finals appearance last year.

For all of those saying that Somerset has fallen and things of that nature how much more consistency do they need to show? They've been in the top 2-4 teams of both 3a and 2a since 2009. They have won 7 regional titles in the past 10 years, with a state finals appearance to boot. What more do they need to prove? If they have a down year it will not be the end of the program I assure you. They have outstanding classes coming through the pipe right now, and what's currently at Somerset is not bad at all. They will be a GOOD 2A FOOTBALL TEAM IN 2014-15.

If the AD and HC at Somerset are willing I'm sure that they could offer Corbin or Wayne or Russell or Bell or any of the quality teams in this end of the state $3000-4000 to come to the RCB and any of those teams would thank Somerset for it(it's as much as or more than they would make at any other bowl), as opposed to splitting the gate and giving $8000 to Pulaski and Southwestern when all that they have to do is show up. No matter how this turns out, Somerset should make make money off PC and SW not coming to the RCB if they play their cards right.

This is what I don't understand, is how PC and SW fans don't comprehend that you will be taking a bigger pay cut by not coming to the RCB than we will.

Somerset won't play Wayne County.

Don Marshall bowl two games with a local team in each game. RCB two games with one local team playing, the other game will have no team from the local area. Big difference. Which this is what SHS wants so their coach don't have to burn the game film.

Once again Somerset isn't dodging opponents. Coach Lucas always plays a tough schedule, they just chose not to re-up in the Don Marshall Bowl, the county chose not to play in the RCB.

This is why so many great rivalries games aren't being played. The teams that "suppose" to win cant rest in peace when they lose. If both teams would just play and shut up about it all over the state city and county schools would meet more regularly.

I use to live in Pulaski County and loved living there. However after reading this thread my question is who has won? With Somerset pulling out of the DM and the county schools pulling out of the RC bowl I think all the fans and kids have all lost. If the DMB is played the same night as the RCB it's possible all 3 schools will loose.

Don't look good on Somerset not playing in the bowl game.

Hard to argue with logic like that. Truly.

With this being the last time these teams meet, anyone have prediction on how the games will play out ?
i think this is not good decison , i am a good supporter of somerset, i always used to watch its all matches, well see what happend next,,,
Is there anyone interested to play in local football teams near your location,, now it is really easy to find local football teams for all age group people ,,
The athletic directors got together to decide to put Somerset in the DM Bowl without Coach Lucas's blessing. He was against it from the beginning. Too many emotions for a non-district game. Once the decision was put in his hands to renew, he still had the same opinion, hence opting out. Not sure why everyone got so bent out of shape for this decision, but I believe it is the right one for Coach Lucas and Somerset. At the end of the season he is the one responsible for where his team stands or falls.
All about the money. You can thank the greed of Pulaski for this one.
