Looks like a good turnout. I counted 52. Who is 24 that was working at fullback? Good sized lad, decent speed. I believe I saw the O'Brian kid to. Lot of speed. Kiser is going to be a very good QB.

I think you will see a few more show up who are playing summer basketball.
If Kiser can get a few receivers who are in summer basketball Confusedhh: then I think we will have a passing game that I think any defensive backfield in the area will have problems covering.

Went to practice today. From what I could tell, I think we will have a lot of speed at the skill positions. The numbers look to be up from the last few years. I hope we will have a few more show up after conditioning and the real practice starts.
#95
I also want to add that Kiser's arm looks real good and accurate.
#96
So what do all of you see the Dawg's regular season looking like?
I think if you take our schedule and how we did against the same teams last year and what they lost compared to what we lost I say............................
9-1 or 8-2. I think our best chances of a loss are Belfry and Prestonsburg.
Pike Central has some good players but with a new coach and staff they will probably be down just a little and have an adjustment period being realistic but it could still be a good game.

That is about what I see on the Season

I'm late updating those I've talked to about it. I've not got to go check the last couple of days about it. And still not going to say what it is only that a 1/3 of what I was told is true. We really, really need the other 2/3's to show up.

LC looked good at 7 on 7 last night. For a QB that has only had about 10 snaps in the last 2 years, Kiser looked sharp. Drop back, rolling left or right, he was about 75% on target. #1 and #24 were his main targets and those guys have some great hands. They go to Russell next Saturday for another 7 on 7. LC is a run team but if they need to pass, there is no doubt they have the ability. They will be very competitive this season.

Where was the 7on7 and how did the Dawg's do?
Do-double-gg Wrote:Where was the 7on7 and how did the Dawg's do?
They played at Raceland. I think they played 4 pool games and 1 tournament game against Greenup County. I think they were 1-2-1 in pool play and they got beat by Greenup in a close game. 7/26 they travel to Russell for another 7/7 tourney.
News is that the other 2/3's showed up for those who know what I'm talking about!!!!
Im not sure what the issue is but lc has the talent not only on the
field but as someone stated earlier, walking the halls. Seems like a lot of the kids that used to play no longer have interest. I think there needs to be something done by he coaches to encourage these kids to play. JMO. However I think lc will be fine and kiser should step up and take over the role of QB without any problems. He's athletic and can make good quick decisions.

I sure hope so! With those players on the team, "and you can call me crazy"
but I think Belfry is the only team on the schedule who can stop us.
Just my own personal opinion.
Alot of NEKY teams are saying the same things. SPEED AND ATHLETICISM. I know Raceland has 4 recievers that are between 6' and 6'4" Potter, Messer, Dixon, and Jameson have all grown alot and looked to be 3 or 4 steps faster all have great hands, good DBs to. The line is smaller, but just as strong and quicker thsn last year. Sound familiar?lol

This is going to make for some fun football to watch this year. Wish LC all the best (except shen I see them on the other sideline hahaha). Would love to see them restored to the days of Jarred Parker snd Michael West.
If anyone knows of any Bulldog events coming up like 7 on 7 or any scrimmages in the future I would like to know. I would also like to know if they plan on having a red n black game this year. I know they are suposed to have another 7 on 7 at Russell.
So it looks like the Dawg's will have some of the best speed and quickness they have had in a long time on this 2014 team. I think that we could have some of the best speed and quickness at the skill positions of any team in the mountains. I am very excited to see this season start and it's been awhile since we have had a buzz around this program. What do you think?
Only thing that concerns me is will they all stick together.

I think they will be fine. When it get's down to it, all kids want to do is have fun and win and those two things go hand in hand. I don't think they will have any problems getting wins this season.
Here is some Bulldog football to do ya untill the season starts.

They got beat in 7-on-7 by Greenup County??? With what I've seen from Boyd and the new no-huddle spread and skill players they have, that first game could be tough....and you can laugh at this point, but just sayin'

LoL 7 on 7 means nothing and the best receiving athlete's we have did not even attend that 7on7 LoL. Come to the 7on7 at Russell on saturday 26th.
You will see the complete offense at this one.

Greenup has alot of talent at skill positions this year.

Did you see the score of the Lawrence-v-Boyd game last year lol. We lost most of our 7 on 7 stuff last year also, Lawrence is a run 1st team and always will be but we will have a better pass game this year then most teams in the area.
Coupon21 Wrote:Greenup has alot of talent at skill positions this year.

So do we. Way more then last year
Do-double-gg Wrote:So do we. Way more then last year

I think the Dalton gang thing people liked to throw around at LCHS basketball games last year will become real big in football this year.Confusedhh:
Don't forget the James , gang.. Kiser, Richardson, chafing.
And all the other guys.
Kiser is going to have a good year. Some kids that I expect to hear big things for are Luke Schaeffer, Cole Mosley, Morgan O Brian, Zack Keesee, Noah Lambert, Brandon Richardson, Austin Chaffins, and Dalton. The line is going to be experienced so it should be a good offensive year for the Bulldogs. Defensively last couple years they have been good at first and second down but struggled getting off the field on 3rd downs. How will they do this year? Who steps up and is going to be the leader of this defense?

Please don't take this the wrong way, but do you really think that the coaching staff is not doing things to encourage kids to come out and play? Seriously?

Those are one of the reasons that people WANT to hear, and to give as the reasons why some of those kids don't come out, then there is the truth....

The REAL reasons why some of these kids don't come out are:

-Those who just PLAY basketball and/or baseball.....those sports are just EASIER. Hell, all they do is PLAY. I played all 3 through high school & two years did four (football, basketball, baseball and track)......tell ya how many basketball and baseball practices I didn't look forward to going to....maybe FIVE combined. Those two sports play more games in two-three weeks than football does all season long. The weather is nice (basketball it's always 70 degrees and sunny). Baseball...who doesn't like April, May and early June weather? Everybody has a ball in both...everybody is shooting...everybody is swinging a bat...everybody is throwing and you PLAY more games over a year (seasons, summer and fall ball) than you can shake a stick at.

How many strenuous offseason programs do these baseball and basketball kids go through? If basketball spent more time doing strength/speed/agility stuff in the offseason like football does, instead of open gym...you'd see kids fall off in that sport, too. The same for baseball. Going to the cage and taking 100+ cuts is a lot more enjoyable to most than the WORK football requires.

THOSE are just the tip of the iceburg for the reasons why a lot of these kids who play one/both of those other sports DON't PLAY football.

As for the kids walking the halls who look the part & don't play ANYTHING.....if you're 16-17 years old and have a job, a vehicle and a little sugar baby on the side...forget about it. Nothing happening there.

Coaches encouraging the kids to play, beating the halls, etc, etc....all of those are the FEEL GOOD reasons people want to hear in getting kids out, but the above examples are THE REASONS why they don't.

Fact.
