AP All State Teams

One of the Top 12 juniors in state and can't start for GRC. If GRC is that loaded it better be state championship or bust for that much talent.

I would say Knipp could start in place of anyone but Stenzel or Zollo.

It was stated that he didn't like to play center, and that is where Rogers plays, so that is out. He is not a PG, and that is what Daniels plays, so that is out.(Even Daniels is not a true PG but more of a 3 position). You stated he would not take the place of Stenzel or Zollo. Only leaves Purvis position, and I stated that was the only possible place I could see. Now if he was a PG he would start for GRC. This is not a knock on Timmy he is a great player and I really enjoyed watching him play in Elliott, State Tourney and AAU. GRC does have one of the most talented teams in the state for next year. Some already has us ranked as the #1 team for next year. Timmy could go to any other team in the 10th region and start.

GRC is indeed loaded next year, as Goldie has stated several times.

Knipp would be hard-pressed to come in and start for GRC next year. Why do you think he stayed at Elliott after his sophomore year? Rumors were swirling he was going to end up at Clark because of family (I believe his mother?) that he has in that area. The writing was on the wall though so he stayed put.

As Goldie has also said, it's not a knock on Timmy because he's a very good player, but sometimes team chemistry is more important than putting your 5 most talented players on the floor together.

I'm also not so sure that Timmy is better than Clark's 5th best player (Purvis). Let's not forget that Purvis was offered a scholarship to Morehead, I believe, after his freshman year. That kid can play some ball too. I expect him to have a HUGE season this year now that he's fully healed from the injury he suffered before his sophomore year.

Stenzel and Zollo would start. Knipp would start. The other 2, up for grabs. If GRC is so good good that they can't start a 6'7 shooter, then they probably won't lose a game next year, win the state and national titles, have Mr. Basketball, 2 McDonalds All Americans, and the national coach of the year. If all that happens, I will publicly apologize to you for underestimating that talent pool at GRC. Until then, I believe Knipp starts for ANY team in the state.

BTW, isn't that the exact same team that was regional runners-up last year?

You have to realize that coaches don't start based on talent...they start kids that they need who fill a certain position best.

Where would Knipp start for GRC? As stated before, he isn't a PG or Center so those two are out. That leaves the 2, 3, and 4. IMO, he wouldn't start over Stenzel or Zollo. That leaves the 4 position that would be up for grabs between him and Purvis.

As stated before, Purvis is a lot better than given credit for, rebounds better than Timmy, and also is physically stronger at both ends of the floor. Morehead wouldn't have offered the kid after his FRESHMAN year if he couldn't play ball.

I stand by my comments that TK wouldn't start at GRC next year.

ANd for the "runner up" question...you're correct. They were indeed runner up with a JUNIOR LADEN TEAM that lacked depth. Their senior to be class is going to be extremely deep this coming season.

See post below he explained it quite well. I may add that we only had one senior this year . He would start some games , some not, depended on the matchups. So you could say we have all starters returning.

See above bolded part. As I stated before if Timmy could play the PG position, he could walk right in and start, if not, don't think he could. We have Daniels playing PG and he is 6'6, but not a true PG. This is what we lacked last year and will need one this year. We are LOADED with tall kids that can shoot. Heck we even had a 6'11 Sophomore that didn't dress varsity.

Some may not agree with me, but I actually thought GRC looked best with Daniels running the point last year. The Cards looked like a well oiled machine at both ends of the floor with the starting 5 of Daniels, Stenzel, Zollo, Purvis, and Rogers.

I was extremely impressed with them during the KOB with those 5 on the floor together. Scary to think they're all back again this year for their senior year.

One of the best games we payed all year was against Memphis Central. Didn't lead till Purvis hit the 3 pointer at the buzzer.Jody Demling wrote a article at that time saying how much Zollo had improved over the summer. If we can continue to improve this summer and stay healthy, we will be hard to beat. I have heard that we are in the Beach Ball Classic and the Toyota Classic this year. Also trying to work out a game with Christian Co. Our schedule was brutal last year and this year we even hope to make it one if not the strongest in the state.

All of our starters have played together for a long time, except Zollo, and this year will make his 3rd year at GRC. Stenzel has started since the 8th grade. Expectation are high for this group of seniors to be.

Good to hear.

Having talked to Coach H a few times last season, he isn't one to shy away from any team. He'll play anybody, anywhere, anytime. Can't wait to see how they do in the BBC.

We played 7 or 8 games against 7th region teams this past season. The Ballard game was also a great game for the Cards. Down 18 points in the first quarter and came back and won the game. All the Cards are playing AAU except Cory Rogers and he will be concentrating on football this summer. That is where he will get his scholarship along with academics.
