I picked HC to win as it seems Breathitt is suffering from the same thing as Russell is. That is the coaches not throwing the ball when they should be throwing 40% of the time.
I know Breathitt is historically more of a passing team than Russell, so maybe they will open it up come district time. I hope so, even though I have nothing against HC, I gotta root for the 3A team vs the 5A team.

Breathitt is just starting to get back to where they were in the lat 90's and early 00's. It wasn't that long ago that Breathitt had a losing season (4-7 in 2005). Breathitt will be fine this year. Harlan may very well win this game, but Breathitt will be a tough out come playoff time.
09-22-2008, 04:27 PM
Breathitt isn't too impressive this year. I'll take HC by 14.

Letcher Central just an average team?????? Harlan County played them pretty close. I think Harlan will beat Breathitt at home something like 46-20.

Any pics of the renovated Cawood field?

I can not see how anyone could beat the HC team, they are awsome and that schedule......wow......

From the teams both Harlan County & Breathitt County have played so far, their combined results are, Breathitt County 13-3 -- Harlan County 6-9.
So Breathitt County has played a much tougher schedule than Harlan County but both teams seem pretty equal on paper.

Anxiety is growing here in Harlan County. Every week the Bears play the biggest game of the year, this week is no exception. Harlan County will be rockin come Friday night and I know the Bears will be ready for show.

This will be an intense game and if Breathitt can make it through the first quarter and quiet the crowd, they have a better chance. If they can take the crowd out of the game, they will win.....I think 35-20....Now before I get thrown off a building, this is just an opinion, not saying I am right or wrong, just posting an opinion.

I don't know if this Harlan County bunch can be quiet. We're tickled to death to have something to holler about! In the words of Sam Cooke, It's been a long time coming.

If Breathitt jumps on Harlan early, the crowd will be sitting on their hands, or making gestures to the refs...lol

Enthusiasm is high here in Harlan County. Friday night I get to watch the Black Bears play the game of football. The Black Bears will be prepared. I expect a battle with the Bears coming out on top.

Whichever team eliminates them will more than likely win....But that is the case in just about every game.
OK' I have to say something here. I guess by this statement u have never been to a football game here in harlan. It doesn't matter if they jump on us early or if the refs wanna get dirty!!!!! Not saying that all refs are that way. But anyway, If it does go that way. That will only make us Bears that much louder!!!!!!!!!!!!! So any1 that wants to go to one of the best games under friday night lights this season. Come on out and cheer for the winning team(The HCHS Black Bears)!!!!! Sorry so long but luv my bears. By the way Gl to both teams.:wenumber1

If Breathitt Co. plays the same way they did against Estill Co. they are sure to lose, Estill is a much better team this year than from last, but take in consideration that the 2 teams that Estill played, Powell, and Bourbon, teams that aren't getting it done on O, or D. Harlan wins 21- 7.

Everybody get to the field early around 4:30pm and tailgatge adn play in our cornhole tournament before the game!!!!!!! This should be the the biggest game in Harlan since the Cawood vs Bell County in the 90's. This is going to be great and I thinking of maybe 5000-8000 people at the game!!!!!!
Go Bears!!!!!!!!!!

We live week to week here. Not worried about next year. We're focused on beating Breathitt Friday night at 7:30PM. Coach Larkey has a talented group of young Bears moving up through the ranks. There's no indication to think that we want be as strong next year or years to come. I think this Breathitt game will be a good measuring stick to see where we are. Remember this is the first year these kids have ever played together and are adjusting to a new Coach and a new philosophy. The Bear Nation is only getting larger! :letsparty
Regardless of what happens Friday night, Breathitt County's football program is always a force to be dealt with.

Some people (not mentioning any names) may have been to a game IN Harlan, but have they ever been to a BLACK BEAR game????? Probably not....totally different thing my friend.
We Black Bear fans will be as loud as it gets throughout the entire game, when the tide is going our way and even when it isn't. I for one probably won't be able to speak the next day. If you look up in the home side stands and see a crazy woman screaming like a crazed banchie then entire game, that will probably be me.....and I figure to see a whole lot more "crazy screaming banchies" Friday night. Come on Bear Nation....let's show em all what a home crowd sounds like. WHOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! I absolutely cannot wait for Friday.

I think Breathit has a great chance to win this game. Harlan Co. has played LCC who lost to Perry Central, Lee High who lost to M'boro and Lynn Camp.
I think Breathit has played a much better schedule and Harlan Co. is getting the cart before the horse. The jury is till out on how good they are?? Still yet it will be a good game. Should be a good atmosphere.
