True but when was the last time they won a regional champ. when was the last time they went to state its been alomst 8 or 9 years. Now look at them they have been one of the top contenders in 3 a the past 2 years. if im not mistaking they went 2-9 in 05 or 06 last year they lost how many games. they are improving every year like i said.

The last time they won a regional championship was 98 i believe. I may be wrong but i think they have had 2 losing seasons in the past 10 years and 4 in the past 20 years. But they have consistantly been up. For it to be a program on the rise it has to be down first. SC wasn't down last year and they haven't been this year. The only thing i see that they have gained is the fact that teams like Fort Thomas Highlands aren't going to be in their way when they beat Belfry.

i was thinking on the rise by doin better this year than last and winning a regional championship by beating belfry for once. i no they beat them 3 years ago but it was in the reg season they have not done so well in the regionals in awile

I think when you talk about a "program" on the rise you have to look at all the intricate parts that go into building a program up. You have this core of a coaching staff and players but then you have to look at the youth programs in the area, community support, and the facilities. According to what I just said, you have to look at Shelby Valley and Bath county. Both have just received some sorely needed new facilities and football fields and what have they done? Each team has had a winning season since their inaugural season on their respective new football fields. Shelby Valley won their first playoff game ever last year.
Program building has the same basic fundamentals as the game of football itself. In football; offense, defense, and special teams have the same equal importance. In keeping a successful football program; good coaching staff, good youth programs, and updated facilities are equal important. See: Russell Red Devils

Harlan County is a program on the rise. A brand new team 5 games old with a winning 3-2 record with two losses coming against two good mountain teams. We have plenty of speed and strength, I think what our boys lacked Friday night was Heart. I think you need to put your old jacket back in the closet. Whatever the outcome of our season Black Bear Nation is proud. Go Bears.

I would see Pville as the opposite. They used to have a good competitive team. Now it seems their numbers are down and they don't seem to have the talent they had before. Although sinlge A seems to be down so they should fair well in it. Still i don't see them being able to compete with everyone like they used to.

Powell County 3-7 last year. They are already 4-1 this year.

YES! very much so.... but Central middle has no big skill players there all short except one! Seems to me that kids get smaller and smaller every year!

JC all the way. I know that I am guilty of giving them alot of hype but, truly they are on the rise. They have had 4 good seasons in a row but, they arent that far removed from being 1-9/2-8 type team

I don't know how you can say their numbers are down considering they had about 35 come out this season compared to last season's low 20's. They are definitely on the rise and have a lot of talent. It doesn't surprise me that you would say that though. I think they have been overlooked a lot this year and will surprise some people as the season continues. The whole program is turning around starting from coaching and going all the way to the fans and the atmosphere of a Paintsville game. Coach Kinner is taking it back to how it used to be... a strong, competitive program.

Didn't prestonsburg pick up two of their coaches. They seem to have helped them this season. I hadn't realized their numbers were so bad last year. I was gone for the last year in a half to iraq and didn't know their program had gone so far south. I watched them play prestonsburg and they were way down from when i seen them last.
