Smile I saw the schedule and hurriedly put it on here. Iphone does that all the time. Sometimes I misspell when Im in a hurry also. No big deal really. Whitley is in a Corner with that game. No matter at home or on the road. I think its a good schedule with plenty of good games and plenty of games to work on stuff with old rivals. So good mix of teams. Would not be shocked to see Corbin run the table. Frederick Douglass will be looking to take that win a few years ago back this time around. Corbin should be locked and loaded for a run at the title in 2025. No 4A team this time around is head and shoulders above the field. 4 Teams including Corbin will be in the hunt for 2025. Corbin looked too good last season on defense to not be right in the mix when it counts. The only question mark for me is the new offense scheme. This year will have new play caller on offense and new QB.  If it's what I saw on film from West Virginia, then I would assume they will be fine. Looked good on film. Good mix of running and passing. From what I see and hear, Corbin will have a nice year. As for the North Laurel game, that is a game that should be played. North being a 5A school won't have an excuse to not compete with Corbin. I don't look for North to beat Corbin but would like to see a competitive game. Good pickup for Corbin especially with rpi points. Pulaski game is going to be the fun one to watch. With Pulaski on the rise, this may be the game to keep an eye on. Pulaski and Corbin both should make deep runs in the playoffs in 2025. I don't know anything about Linton Stockton, sounds like to me a shirt company logo lol. But I will say with their resume, it should be a tuff game. Johnson Central is tuff and plays the kind of football to get a win at Corbin. I don't know what they have coming back until I get to see them in action but rumors is they are stocked with lots of young talent and I haven't seen a easy Johnson Central team yet. So that one should be a dandy as well. The good thing about that game is Johson Central will play Ashland and either Highlands or Covington Catholic most likely because of district pairing and just like Frederick Douglass plays Boyle County. We should get a real good indication of who's who in 4A during the regular season. I don't like the KHSAA ruling on the 1-year free transfer. All I can say is if I were the head cheese, I would make all athletes eligible for all years to be able to transfer anytime anywhere. Im not so back to the thread, 4A is primed for another year of the upset. I think this may be the one that will be unpredictable because by the time playoff time comes around, 6-8 of those teams will be capable of beating the other. But in my mind I think 2025 champion will come out of one of 4 teams. Corbin, Franklin County, Covington Catholic, Boyle County.

Thats as of 5/11/2025, that may change by Week 11 based on regular season results.

Is Salmons in the same realm as Elam?

How many kids are in Elam's realm?  Very few.

It will be interesting to see if he still plays defense. He was one of Corbin's best defensive players. Very hard hitter. They will miss him on defense if he strictly QB.

I only ask because if FD ran it up on Corbin with Elam at the helm.. with no Elam how much does that gap close?

It's a good question. I don't know how FD compares with the team they had last year. They were clearly better than Corbin last season. I predicted the exact score of that game. In 2023, however, although they won just 6-0, Corbin looked, to me, to be the better team by two or three scores. Corbin had several opportunities to put distance between themselves and FD but could never capitalize in their redzone opportunities. It could have easily been a three score game in '23.

David Cox is retiring as the superintendent effective in August according to the paper. At least Cox, Jewell, and Greer are out of the fold. Too bad this didn’t happen last year. Things could’ve looked a lot different.

Good question, and from what I've seen, the answer is definitely so. Has some nice finesse on his shorter stuff. Leads receivers well. Still things to work on but I like what I see. He's just a ballplayer. He was one of Corbin's best and hardest tacklers last season. A real menace on defense. I suspect he will bring that same mentality to the QB position. And you know what? He might not even be the best Salmons player we'll see for the Hounds over the next four years. Young Jake is already quite the talent.

Maybe, but I don't see Coach Luke allowing his kids to curse at and spit at the opposition as they enter the facility. Any coach that allows that is a scumbag.

Btw, the Corbin -Linton game should be a dandy. Linton is a big-time football school. Their community is all in on the Miners, much like Corbin. I'm hearing they will likely bring down a couple hundred fans from Indiana, maybe more. Linton ended Indiana powerhouse, Indianapolis Lutheran's season and 12 game winning streak last year. We'll see what the Hounds are made of from day 1.
