Pikeville won the Pikeville College Team Camp Championship with wins in the tournament over Johnson Central, Jackson City, and in the championship Knott Central. They looked very good when they played up-tempo but didnt look as sharp when they slowed it down.

Great way to end summer basketball for the Pikeville Panthers!

Saw the Panthers play for the first time yesterday and must say I was very impressed. Honaker was a man among boys, D. Adams is quicker and jumping much better. {He is throwing down with ease} Bell is shooting it like he is still in that Zone he found in the regional tourney. Clevinger is playing defense and doing all the things that make his teammates and team better. Burchett stroked it from outside and Tyler Baker took it strong to the hoop and looks as though he may play major minutes if he will go to the glass and play in your face defense. Other sophomores to be like Patrick Keene and Gatlin Clark should also help. This could be the best Panther team in years and it couldnt happen to a nicer harder working group of young men. Now if Williams and May just don't screw it up. LOL

Summer basketball doesn't mean anything! It just provides experience for some --- who show up!

Wyatt Earp Wrote:I think that that is the biggest plus to summer basketballfanonly in that many teams play without some of their players and thus the younger players have an opportunity to see how they can do. Summer is not all about winning every game. I can't remember who won the summer championships last year. Just my opinion however.
i think you're right, summer ball gives all the boys a chance to improve and show what they're made of. the younger boys get to play alot and its good for the incoming freshman to get in there and get use to the bigger boys and get rid of any uncomfortable feelings they may have playing with bigger and older boys.
