We also have a trend going in the east over the last few years. The preseason "favorite" to represent the east has not been the representative once everything played out. No one expected Raceland to be there last year, and it was the same situation with Pikeville when they won it. Right bow the east is still pretty tight, but Pikeville is more consistent offensively against the better teams on their schedule than the other 3. Any of the top 4 have the defenses to make it to Lexington, but Raceland and Paintsvilles offense against the better teams have been suspect. After seeing Paintsvilles offense first hand, I have to say that Hazards defense isnt what I thought after they gave up 38 points to paintsville. Right now Pikeville has to be the favorite, then Paintsville/Raceland and then Hazard. I still dont for see a dark horse knocking any of those 4 off.

I’m trying to be as respectful as I can to Paintsville they best Raceland, they made more plays plan and simple , Paintsville wanted it more , Raceland is better than Paintsville it was one of those games when your thinking we better score and stop letting them hang around or we will be in trouble and that’s what happened, good news for Raceland is they played terrible , play calling was terrible and got beat 6-0 , all things that went wrong are fixable but the question is will they fix them time will tell

Look at that, it's a kinder, gentler AFN. The shock therapy must be working. Ha ha

If a home field shutout loss to a district rival doesn't make you humble, nothing will.

Let’s dont forget Paintsville put up numbers against Pikeville as well so their D must be pretty bad to cause Paintsville doesn’t have much of a offense! Yes the Rams played bad but I do know our line got exposed for being very slow.

Play calling.....first and goal on the 7 and we throw a fade??? There isn’t maybe 5 teams in the state that can throw a fade and score!! Not like that. Really?? Come on Mike

I think that on the last score against Pikeville there were a bunch of changes to the defense that was on the field but their were still some starters on the field. So on the starters they scored 7and would have on Raceland but missed the extra point. So I don’t figure how you think Pikeville’s defense is pretty bad. But as always GO PANTHERS!!!

Love these new random posters trying to bait Raceland posters into a pissing contest. We played like hot garbage. A "high octane offense" averages more than 30 points a game. Never recall any if us saying we were the greatest show in turf. We just said we had a balanced offense and a QB that had been extremely poised to be so young. That being said, heres the difference in most ram fans and other programs, when we play like shit, we play like shit. No excuses. No one has belittled or made excuses. We looked and played like hot garbage. Plain and simple.

It’s all about matchups. Every game will be different. Pikeville beat Paintsville 36-14, Pikeville beat Hazard 33-27. Then Paintsville beats Hazard by 1 38-37. Also to note Skyler Phelps didn’t play but 1 series in the 2nd half in that game. Then Paintsville beats Raceland 6-0 in a defensive battle.

Jet made a good point about these teams and that’s familiarity with each other. So it’s basically a toss up on any given night on how each of these games would go!

I’m thinking you better throw in Williamsburg also, they looked pretty dang Good Friday night against Lynn Camp.

I will throw their offense in there putting up 72. But they also gave up 44.

So Not True Most of the you all get on here and put other teams and coached down Just can't handle it when it is given back to you.. I have never seen such poor posting as I do from Raceland Fans to other teams.. Maybe you all nee to go back and read some of your own post. Seem like you have may have some memory lapses..

Nope, no difference in ram fans. You don't give Paintsville credit anywhere in your post. Truth is Paintsville made you look bad.

Think again. I would love to see Williamsburg coming to Pikeville for the regional championship. But it will be Hazard.

I disagree it's a tossup. It's going to take a huge game for anyone to come into Pikeville and win in the playoffs. And I mean huge. Beechwood would not even be favored at Pikeville.

neutral field
[2018] Beechwood (Fort Mitchell, KY) 28, [2018] Pikeville (KY) 27

Of course it will be decided on the field but I will take Pikeville against everyone at home in the playoffs.

Jett...there is nothing wrong believing in your team but Beechwood will kill Pikeville anywhere they played them! The east is playing for second place buddy and there isn’t anything you can do about it.It would take a all star team from the east to compete with Beechwood

Just a reminder Pikeville won at Hazard last year and has everyone back and is better than last year and will be at home this time.

You sound like a fan of a team that has never beat Beechwood.Confusednicker:
Last time Pikeville was this good they demolished Beechwood.

Said many times that Paintsvilles defense made plays and shut us down. But where we had success, we didnt stay after it. Boys didnt make the plays they usually make. Paintsville had some to do with it, but I've watched this Raceland team all year and they didnt play with the same heart and fire they have. Maybe if they did the outcome would have been the same, but I'd have to say it wouldnt be the case. Almost all of the consistent posters from Raceland on here have done nothing but state that we looked horrible in this game. Paintsville stopped our run game up the middle, but we had success on the edges. But for whatever reason, we went away from it.

That same statement was made in 2011 and we see what happen. Matchups are big in 1A.

The year Hazard crushed Mayfield...

But calpreps thinks this Pikeville team is better than that Hazard team, their best ever.

I know it doesn't mean anything but this Pikeville team is pretty good and getting better. They still have to beat 3 very good teams to win it all and it will be a very difficult task. I'm out, hoping for no injuries and whoever is banged up gets healthy for the playoffs!

Love to see another Pikeville/Beechwood match up. Maybe.....just maybe. If that were to happen, i'll be making the trip from Tn. to Kroger field.TongueirateSho

We can all go back and forth all we want but the fact of the matter is anyone of us will give anything for who ever comes out of the east gives Beechwood a wonderful parting gift of class A runner-up trophy as they move on to 2A. Another fact is that not a helluva whole lot seperate the big 4 in the east.
