Congratulations to Paintsville's Kendra Carroll, 15th Reg. POY!

thetribe Wrote:Kendra was a great player but Guru, you are singlehandedly trying to carry Paintsville on your back and prove that she rightfully earned this award. Statistically there were better players than her.
But it isn't all about stats.....it is about who the coaches felt was the best Sr. player of the year in the 15th region. Everyone else was saying that her stats are not as good as the rest! And therefor didn't deserve it. BTW, she was the one that carried Paintsville.
Heck....last year, I thought that Chelsee Jarrell was the best sr in the region, but her stats were 12 ppg and 8 rpg. Hardly astonishing stats. But she got the coaches votes.

I am going to agree with GURU. I have seen a lot of the girls games this year and she should actually have a lot more assist than what she had. When she would give it up for a better shot a lot of times it would be missed. As far as next year. i think a few will be surprised with the Lady Tigers! And I'm sorry because this might offend some people. But, She has a sweeter jumper than a lot of the boys in the 15th. LOL! The girl is a smooth as butter! LOL!

Heck....I don't know why everyone doesn't just congratulate her and move on!!! They'll say, congrats to Kendra....but she didn't deserve it...That's bullshit! If you don't want to be sincere, then just shut the hell up!
The girls has worked her ass off. Signed a D1 scolly(which everyone said she didn't deserve) played her ass off and the only player I can think of that really played the best D on her was MC's Ashley Hall! Til she bout broke her ankle!

There were alot of good seniors in the 15th this year, congrats to kendra. Considering so far she is the only offical sighne we have in the region, I think , AJ and Manns might if already sighned too
#65
O.k. have seen the girls across the region for the past year.

First question, what is the criteria based on such an award; if all coaches voted on the award what is their thought process in the final vote.

IMO, the best player should be on the winning team. I agree that Carroll lead her team to a All A title yet, in the big season I think the p.o.y. needs to come from a team that plays for a championship during the regional tournament?
#66
This award has become a joke. It was last year and it is this year. If Ashley, Haley or Esther took 20 shots a game; they would be averaging over 30.0 per game.
#67
so your telling me that esther doesnt mean more to her team than kendra you got to be joking
eaglehoops Wrote:As I said before no player meant more to their team than Kendra Carroll! Come on ppl, without her pville is hurtin bad. Wait and see, next year the are gonna be way down!

That's about the dumbest thing I have read!

That's like saying Mr. Basketball should go to someone that is playing in the State Championship game!!! Not the person that all the coaches feel has been the most consistant, best player all year. Just pick someone who's team has got hot at he right time!!!

Congrats Kendra. I enjoyed watching you and there were few in the region that could guard you one on one. You are the purest scorer in the region, you create your own shots. Good luck in W. Carolina. Show them how the mountain girls can play. Good luck and congrats!!!

Well... I don't think I have congratulated Kendra, but first I'd like to congratulate all the fine Senior players in the running.
Obviously you all were the "real deal" this year for your respective teams. I applaude & appreciate your hard work, your dedication, and your "Never say die" attitudes even though every time you stepped inside the lines, there was a "target" on your backs!
I do not agree with singling players out for distinction like in an all tournament type situation... because it has and always will undermine "team unity"... and in some instances "Community unity". I do like the POY thing.

As for this year, Kendra Carroll has been awarded the honor of 15th Region's Player of the Year. C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S K E N D R A C A R R O L L !

I agree with eaglehoops,(don't fall over there EH...lol) No other "single" player meant more to their team, than Carroll.
I believe the Coaches have spoken and I also believe we should all show an appropriate amount of respect for this young lady and her efforts. I know I would, even if the player named, were from any other school. This one is like going by "Thumper's Rules"....
#71
congrats but i think its B.S.
#72
You know.... I hoped people could "take the hint" & show some good judgement... but here we go again.
#73
Congrats Kendra! Good Luck in College Ball!!!!!!!!!!
Make Eastern Kentucky PROUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#74
Paintsville wouldn't have won 10 games combined the past two years without her.
#75
It's amazing how only 1 person can win games for teams all over the region, yet when someone not from the holy town of Salyersville doesn't win, then the winner doesn't deserve it. That is what is B.S. What about the Magoffin Co team, without AJ Howard, or Britanny Manns, where would they be? What about Pike Central, without Haley Ratliff, where would they be? Nowhere. Most Girls teams really only have 1 standout player, and a couple of so so supporting teammates, but most of the work is done by each teams standout player.

CONGRATS KENDRA ON RECEIVING THIS GREAT AWARD!
We're proud of you, good luck at the next level.
#76
congrats Kendra
#77
That's a good choice of words you used Guru.
#78
All right folks, let's face it. There is alot of lobbying among the coaches for votes when deciding the player of the year. I think it would be interesting to see the vote totals b/c I believe Carroll, Fleming, Howard and Ratliff probably split alot of votes.

In My Opinion, K. Carroll was not the best Senior in the region this year but it is not my call to make. She received the most votes by the coaches so that should be the end of it.
#79
I agree. Stats, particularly points, are not everything even though that is the player that usually gets the most recognition. Someone usually has to get the ball to that scorer. Often someone else must set the screen for that scorer to drive. It takes an entire team. Luckily, Magoffin Co. has more than one or two players who are exceptional. Their whole team is talented, therefore it makes it easy for a few to score many points. Kendra Carroll may not have had as many points as several others in the region, but she has the entire package it takes, including the best sportsmanship, to be given this title.
#80
For those of you who think it's BS, get over it!!!
The votes are in and that's it.
Say congrats and have something nice to say or don't say anything at all!
That being said, CONGRATS KENDRA!
You ARE 15th Region Player of the Year!!
Good luck at College!!!!

It's amazing how a congrats thread turns into a crying thread. My goodness if you want to cry about it, start your own crybaby thread please. This girl deserved it more than anyone. No one can tell me another player that meant more to her team in the 15th Region. Take her away and how many games does Paintsville win this year? By the way congrats on being the 15th Region POY.

Just exactly what are you trying to say in this post ?Also I have seen 3 post on here from Salyersville one was by me i said congrats but i would rather have Ratliff or Howard ,never once said she didnt deserve it she does but that dont mean she is the best player and the saying so much about here not deseving it is a Paintsville fan and Pike County teams fans so why are You ragging on Salyersville ?
#83
Congrats on a WELL deserved award! Good luck at Western Carolina!

Good point Guru... obviously being the only one in this area to sign a D1 scolly the scouts saw more potential out of her then the others too... Congrats Kendra!

So are you trying to say that the coaches opinions of basketball players are a joke...?...YOU'RE THE JOKE!...I knew this would happen again. I knew once people found out it was Kenny, they would start their CRAP again. They did the same exact thing when Jarrell won the award last year! Why can't people just simply say congrats and MOVE ON!...Sure there may have been other more deserving players, but whoever would have won, still wouldn't have been who some people would have picked and I bet money they wouldn't bash them this bad. But there's something Kendra has more of than AJ, Haley, and Esther do...She has Good Sportsmanship and Class! She never flipped fans off, or called someone a b**** on the court or purposely elbowed someone in the face. She has NEVER done anything dis-tasteful or unlady-like, like the others people kept talking about on here. It' not just about stats, it's about their attitdes and how they carry themselves on and off the court. She has not only put up some good stats, she has shown GREAT Class and Sportsmanship through-out her career, and that is why the coaches voted for her, and that's why I would vote for her 2!

So once again, CONGRATS KENNY, give em hell at WCU!!!

Redneck Wrote:Last years coulda went either way considering Chelsee's and Calloray's stats were identical. This year on the other hand is a different story, there is NO WAY that Kendra's stats are even close to Ashley Jade's or Haley's, JMO. As for here being the most important to her team, take Ashley Jade or Haley away from their teams and see how well they do.

What was the stats excatally, I was just wondering thanks.

Just because one fan from MC gets on here and says its bs dosent mean you have the right to bash Salyersville, I garuntee if AJ won they would be Paintsville fans doing the same thing but dont judge a county on one inparticuliar fan

Kendra congrats on being POY you really deserved this award and as far as class and good sportsmanship goes you showed the best out of any person in the 15th region once again congrats and g/l in college and what ever life throws your way.

Congrats kendra i think you deserved it and i will miss watching you play next year! and congratulations for signing with a d1 college! good luck in college!♥

Let's face it, this isn't about who won POY, it's about WHERE she come's from plain and simple. Coaches feel that she is deserving then who the he** are any of us to say she isn't.

Congrats Kendra Carroll on an outstanding high school career and being POY. Best of luck as you head into your college career.
