There are a handful of teams that we've heard nothing about..... Can anyone give us some info on...
Barbourville
Pineville
Williamsburg
Lynn Camp
Also we've heard a bit about Knox Central, hows the new coach doing?
and my pick for most improved team is going to be OBI. Now don't get me wrong, they won't be at the top of the region by any means, but this is the first Summer in a long time that they've really taken it seriously. They will surprise some people and may creep into the top 10.....

I believed in Bell County and it justifies my faith

Top 3 could interchange
1. Clay - I know it's a big jump. But they had an impressive summer.
2. Bell - Morris can't do it alone
3. Harlan City - They won't be a surprise this year, might be tougher then expected for them
No's 4-8 are close.
4. North Laurel - Great Summer. Got better every time out.
5. Corbin - didn't have a top player, will be fine.
6. Harlan County - we'll see how they do.
7. South Laurel - Look for them to take a major leap.
8. Whitley - I don't see who is going to replace what they lost.
9-10 - have the potential to knock off a 4-6 team
9. Knox Central - Messer is just what they needed
10. Lynn Camp - veteran coach will have them ready to compete
after that I don't see anyone being able to compete....
For North to move up into the upper level they have got to play a better schedule, if I'm not mistaken they only beat one team with a winning record last year and they was a All A school that was 1 or 2 games over 500 playing a soft schedule. If they want to be taken seriously they have got to start beating some better teams. They can't be going to these Xmas tourneys where everyone is looking for there first win.

I know jagnation is a north fan but I really dont see how they always have north 3-5 spots above south. south played north twice last year and south won at north 70-62 and north won 58-56 on a great 3 from 25ft at the buzzer to win on souths floor. sounds pretty even to me. south was actually 2 seconds away from sweeping north. for some reason norths talent (which I really like) is almost always judged to be better than souths. I think both teams have some good talent coming up. great talent? depends on how hard they work at it

Barbourville>>>will be rebuilding and total rebuild ...i know Lynn Camp beat them badly this summer.
Pineville>>>>does have a couple good players returning, but will have a new coach leading them.
Williamsburg>>>>new coach.. probably about the same as last year
Lynn Camp>>>will suprise. have starting guards back. will have a solid starting 5 but will need some people step up on bench. Heard they shot lights out against bville.

Is it that obvious I'm a north fan. Haha. Our schedule has nothing to do with strength of our team. As for us vs south. South is a rising team too. But your talent doesn't compare. Bruner is 2nd best player in region now that she's healthy. We have top two freshman not named green. Lawson is best young talent in Tri counties. South has some solid players. But I don't see any like our top 3-4. Don't get me wrong. I like south. But we have finally figured it out.

just my opnion but sheppard is better than lawson. lawson dont guard no where near as good as shep. lawson doesnt have a left hand and shep a better shooter both play really hard

It will all come out in the season, so no reason for anyone to get to upset about preseason stuff. As far as Sheppard and Lawson I think both are VERY good Lawson has been better up to this point but I think Sheppard is improving quicker. Lawson has stopped looking to score for some reason. Could have been adjusting to playing with Bruner. I think both north and south are on the upward swing after some down years. The north south game will always be close no matter who has more talent. Common opponents were all over the place too, why because both teams better players were and are young. Both teams will be better this year. I just put the difference maker in the hands of Bruner. 2nd best in the region may or may not be true but she is good and will finally be healthy after her acl. This is the sad truth the 13th region will be down enough that both of these teams, Whitley, and my redhounds will still be very competitive even though they are so young. Yes Bell, Harlan ind, and clay are going to be the favorites but none are going to be dominate. I don't like how down our region is but I do love how just about anyone in the top 8-9 could win it and it wouldn't be a huge upset. I will end by saying how impressed I was with corbin this summer even without what should be the starting pg they had some good success and I think will surprise more at the end of the season if we keep improving and learn how to handle our injuries a little smarter.

I have enjoyed reading all the different points of view......But, I still say Clay Co. wins the 13th in the end. I also think South is going to be better than most people think. Snyder is a good coach!:Cheerlead

I don't think the 13th is that down. I thought it was quite a bit better than the 14th or 15th last season.
As for eight or nine teams having a chance, I don't see it. I think there are six with a shot, even though I agree Bell, Clay and Harlan are the favorites. I think HCHS, Whitley and Corbin have earned the respect to be in the mix, even though it may take a while.
Perhaps North will belong in that group when the season begins, maybe even South, but they have to actually beat one of the better teams to be considered. There's no way the contenders go any deeper than that. Everyone else is at least 20-25 points below Bell.

I agree with what you are saying about earning it. I think I had said in a post before North has never won anything basically in its entire existence. South hasn't been out of district in a few years and may not this year in a very competitive district. I still think that they both will compete this year. All of the preseason talk is the most fun as every team right now think they are going to be better than they probably are. Down might be the wrong word about the region but it does say something when both Whitley and corbin lose the core of the team and we are all still putting them in the top 6 of the region. I'm glad that corbin is going to be able to compete as young as we are but it does tell you the top teams aren't dominate or we wouldn't give young teams even a chance.

Inexperienced maybe, but not that young.
Corbin will have eight juniors and seniors if my roster is correct. The key is you have girls there like Wilson and Jewell who waited their turn, even though they could have started for 13 or 14 teams in the region.
Whitley has three seniors, then they go to a very good freshmen class.
I'm not sure the North and South freshmen are the elite in the region, after Green as Jag Nation said. Whitley County and Harlan Count both have very good freshmen who had to wait their turn last year but could have started at a lot of places in the region.
