Highlands/Boyle Co. Predictions
#61
Boyle has to be the favorite going into this game. Great players, great coaches, great tradition, game at home, etc. Hopefully the Birds can keep it close or maybe pull out the upset.

charlie you shouldn't be so sarcastic.now i'm a Boyle co. fan,and i think they have a chance at winning, but we all know Highlands is the favorite.just because we love and support our Rebels dosen't mean we've lost touch with reality.Highlands is the favorite, and if Boyle wins it will be an upset. Not a huge upset, but an upset none the less.should be a great game if we can keep it close.can't wait.

And you shouldn't assume things I didn't say or intend. There was zero sarcasm in my post. I sincerely feel Boyle is the favorite. Both teams will start the season in a very similar state: very strong defenses, excellent coaching, and inexperienced O linemen. Highlands has the more proven passing game, but Boyle has the more proven running game. I think that with the game being at Boyle, Boyle has to be the favorite.

Charlie is a lot of things but "sarcastic" isn't one of them. He' s right that this is going to be a tough hard fought game between two programs that are very similar in their coaching and tradition. Throw in the fact that it is a home game for Boyle and the pendulum swings to Boyle as the favorite in this game.

Ok lets call it a toss up. PS Sorry Charlie.

will this be the largest crowd ever at the rebels stadium?

I doubt it.Iv'e seen the Boyle co. and Danville games in years past draw between 8,000 and 10,000 people when they were both in class 2 A.in the same distric togather.those games were more intense, and had more hype than the state title games.the rivalry has really went down hill the last few years, and the attendance is nothing like it use to be.
#68
Lol. Each of us not wanting to be the favorite to win. That's classic.

I'll be straight up honest...Highlands has to be the favorite. I'm as big a Rebel fan and supporter as they come, but I call it like I see it. I don't think our O-line will be ready for a team like Highlands the first game of the year. I just hope we keep it close and give ourselves a chance at the end. Anyone that's played knows it's hard to replace your entire O-line and not stumble. We will take our lumps early and, hopefully, by district/playoff time we will be ready.

This is my personal opinion. Take it as you will.....

I've heard Boyle is adding some temporary seating for the game. Can anyone from Boyle confirm that fact?

What time is the game scheduled for on the 19th? Given the time of year, I would imagine they might consider starting the game at 7:30 vs. 7:00.
#71
Yes, the school is suppose to be looking into adding additional seating for that game and our bowl game the following weekend.-per school official

They better follow through on this...

It's already scheduled for 7:30

IMO This will not be even close to some of the past Boyle/Danville games.
#74
I second everything you said.

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to agree with you.

I'll withhold my prediction until Aug. 13th, but Highlands appears to have some solid leadership and experience which will serve them well. Every team on their schedule wants to be the team to knock off the Birds and Boyle is no different....may the best team win.

i'm for boyle county! but highlands are the favorites! should be a classic!

Boyle County 14
Highlands 24

If Boyle holds this offense to 24 it will be the Birds lowest offensive output for the season... take it to the bank.

Should be a great opener for both tradition-rich programs.

If Boyle's defense plays like it has over the past 3 seasons,Its very possible that they hold Highlands to 24 pts.or less.Boyle has one of the best Defense's in the state year in,and year out.
#80
I want to say Boyle but in the early season match up I'll take Highlands 21-7.

I agree that Boyle has a good defense, but Highlands is no slouch. Last year against JC and Christian Co. Boyle gave up 570 yards of offense where Highlands gave up a total of 367 yards. The Birds will be very solid on defense and there will not be much of a difference from last year in my opinion.

Boyle's young QB will gain a ton of experience regardless of how the game turns out.

Highlands 33
Boyle County 18

Hard to compare those games. Different set of circumstances in all four games for both teams. I expect our defense to carry us the beginning of this year. I am glad we have Highlands scheduled in week 0 and not week 8 or 9.

I echo Sportzanimal's sentiment. I'll also add that our entire team will gain a ton of experience. Especially the o-line and qbs(I expect them both to play). This game will(it should) only make us better.

Yes they do and well coached too! i just think it will be low scoring with first game of season! most teams open a bit sluggish.

Jack Lambert Wrote:By looking at the number of players both teams lost last year,Highlands lost as many starters as Boyle did.besides these programs dont rebuild they reload.

Does Boyle have a 2X State Championship QB coming back?
#86
Blau Vogel Wrote:Does Boyle have a 2X State Championship QB coming back?

No Boyle doesn't but they have several two time players that other positions that do. Towles is great. And I know the qb plays a huge role in team success but that's not the only thing to look at when basing future success. Good luck to both teams. It should be a great one between two outstanding programs....
