Cordia Coaching Search

zaga_fan Wrote:But will Kent be able to win without chocolate milk?!?!
That is the question!
Milk helps build strong bones and is a good source of the nutrients needed to build a succesful basketball program, but it just doesn't taste as good as chocolate milk.
With chocolate milk you can get a drink that helps out your program and the players enjoy drinking.
Anyone who takes this job is automatically behind the 8-ball and they will have to make some sacrifices to get the chocolate milk program going in the right direction.
And before anyone asks....
no I'm not a racist!!!!!
Some of my best friends are chocolate milks!

I promise I will quit sooner or later.
But this is too much fun.

I'm not a real big fan Strikeout King...
It's all about John Bentley loving him some chocolate milk...

^ Like I said I seriously doubt him leaving this year. I actually hope he stays our Coach until he retires we're all very fond of Coach Bentley down here in Irvine.
#64
^I'm sure he will be returning.
#65
^ From What I hear he's working on the schedule if it isn't completed already. heard it's harder then what it has been in recent years with a possibility of a couple of Lexington Schools on there. Jackson City, Knott Central and Rockcastle. All the District Games except Powell County, will be a boy/girl double header with the Girls playing at 6 and the boys to follow at 8

What about Joel Melton?

I believe its a requirement in the state of Ky, you have to be able to dribble a basketball before you can coach.

I think Kent would be a great hire for Cordia. Kent has had some great experience with Noble last few years and apart of the staff under Hollan at PCC. I think he would come and try to do something for Cordia, not just try to better hiself. I dont think Kent would be the kind that would leave in a year or two.

Cordia will post this job with the P.E job as well. Kent is a social studies teacher and there is no social studies teaching job openings at Cordia. Who ever they hire will have a degree to teach P.E.

I do agree with Kent being a good fit, but it just can't happen.

^ who would be some Candidates? I doubt Bentley leaving Estill this year, not with him working with the players and after the Gym Getting Re-done this year

It doesn't matter if there are no openings in the school altogether.
They will get the coach they want.
No school is going to limit themself to only a single opening.
They'll move teachers around and give out pink slips if need-be.
#71
I like what he meant was-There is a job opening at Cordia for a P.E. teaching position and they want to knock to heads out with one stone, hiring a coach that will fill the PE opening as well as becoming the coach.

Dude that's not right.

Benchwarmer Wrote:Dude that's not right.

Yes it is...
I'd be a better hire than that guy.
#74
The next head coach at Cordia will be your PE teacher. Steve Melton teaches all the social studies classes so he is going no where, the only teaching position that might come open is the science position. Many of the people up there doesn't like her, she may be gone but as of right now PE is the only position open.

Wall2Wall, I have no clue who you are but I seen where you said you are a son of a coach. Would your father be a canidate for the job, since you said you were a Cordia homer?
#76
I would go after Bentley first, if he don't want it what about going after Honeycutt??? As far as Joel, he just wouldn't have the time to put into it what Cordia needs as a coach. No one saw what Coach Fugate put into that program, no way any other coach works harder then that man. And Baller, I don't know what makes you think You know more about basketball then Joel. Don't be hating on Joel, I would love to see them give it to Jerry Stacy but I don't think you can be a head coach unless you have 60 college credit hours so he won't get it. Cordia has a very good team returning with just losing those twins, and with the young talent they have returning with the right coach they have a shot at making to region for a couple of years, but with the talent Knott is getting in with all their transfers, no one will be able to beat them, let me repeat no one
#77
This may be off the subject a little but who is the girl's coach at Cordia?
#78
Tailback44 Wrote:Wall2Wall, I have no clue who you are but I seen where you said you are a son of a coach. Would your father be a canidate for the job, since you said you were a Cordia homer?

No, he has no interest in a head coaching position.

They end up getting a different coach every year, so only GOD knows who will be coaching there next year.

Bentley would be crazy to leave Estill and if I'm correct Honeycutt has already said he isn't coming back to Cordia.
And I'm pretty sure you need a bachelors degree to coach high school.

Incorrect...I think its 60 hrs to be a head coach in the state of Kentucky, but a degree is not required. However, for that to be the case you still have to have someone who is affiliated with the school as well.

Yep
I remembered it after I said it.
You have to have someone on the bench that works for the school but I don't know what the requirements are(if any) for that person's education.

I know more than what YOU think. I know to many people at cordia to not know.

The new coach will either be the P.E. teacher or science teacher.

Cordia will find a good coach but honestly it would be a hard place to coach and succeed. Your stuck right between Hazard, Perry, Knott Co. and they will always be promising the really good players the world to get them out of Cordia. If Cordia could have kept the talent that was there they would have made a couple of trips to Rupp in my opinion. This is not a knock on Cordia's program but just a fact. Cordia has had some really good teams in the past, imagine if they could have gotten a few of those undecided kids that went to those other schools instead.
