Lawrence Co. Football 2011
#61
Not sure exactly how many but I know they return a really good quarterback, offensive lineman, full-back that were starters last year. There are some others who weren't starters last year but have a lot of talent who will shine this yer. The defense returns a lot from last year's team.
#62
What does everyone see Lawrence County doing with a tougher district schedule and some good non district opponents in Ashland and P-Burg..
#63
Can anyone close to the program give us any updates ?
What type offense?
New players or transfers?
Where's camp?

THANKS
#64
Camp went well, just got back from Lindsey Wilson College. Talked to one of the players on the team yesterday, he said our defense is whats going to win games for us. He also said offense was the same with more passing plays this year. There are some new kids on the team this year but not transfers, and they will truly help this team alot.

I know people love Lawrence Co on here but giving injury updates, telling everybody where we are going+what we are doing, telling everybody what we run etc doesn't help the team one bit. In fact it hurts it. I LOVE you guys +the passion but think about the kids before you start throwing too much info out there. You've got coaches that have coached the belly, WingT, Spread, I, 3 back power etc. Having that up our sleeve is an advantage going into the sesaon because nobody really knows what we will do. Posting injuries puts a bullseye on people and half of the stuff posted on injuries hasn't even been true. Giving out dates+times we play just makes it easier to get scouted. Hate to sound rude because I love you guys but think about the kids.
#66
You guys can always PM me if you want to talk ball btw. I know you care about it or you wouldn't be on here.
#67
I think that it really doesn't matter what people puts on here. I know that we can PM you anytime but the Levisa Lazer put about the one injury so it wasn't like it was a big secret and the other one i didn't know about but learned that it wasn't true but neither of those came from me. I do belive that people have a right to know where every team is playing so they can go watch, not to scout or anything but just to watch as a fan. Sorry if that offended anyone or anything like that. I see people post on other schools all the time and no one ever says anything but when you post about LC why is that a problem? Just asking not starting anything I know you love the team as well, and I really appreciate and respect what you do.

It's all good. Just saying think about the kids and how posts will effect them. I know how much you love them without question.

Usually there would be 100's of post's by now. It is very obvious there is very little interest in where LC is going or what they are doing. Hopefully everyone is saving their school spirit for game night. Any coach who uses this forum for a scouting report is extremely lazy. The game is won or lost by those coaches that actually coach and TEACH the fundamentals of the game and the players that make the effort to be the best they can be. Every coach has a game plan until their opponent makes them change it. And I would hope not one single high school coach bases their game plan on what is said on a sports forum. A lot of misinformation is posted on here some of it on purpose by those with ulterior motives.

Very good post! And yes, there is some misinformation posted on sports forums, some intentional, and some by uninformed posters. But, overall, this forum is enlightening and is a lot of fun to read. But, I guess we shouldn't get too serious about what someone posts. Everyone has an opinion!

My big question is how is the defense coming alone so far??
#72
defense is going to be rock solid!!! Coach Cecil, Coach Preece, and Coach Caudill make up quite possibly the best coaching tandem ever at LC. Throw in Coach Short and we have a solid team. This is a hometown team with hometown coaches!! I'm gonna say at least a regional championship if not a run at state!!!!TongueirateShoTongueirateSho

What so different? They' were there last year too, weren't they?
#74
only cecil and preece were there last year. This is a new staff and way better than previous years staffs. This year, the bulldogs have probably without a doubt the best oline coach in the state in caudill and the best defensive coaches in the state in cecil and preece. I would be surprised if any team scored more than 10 points on us this year and finally have an oline coach that will allow us to have a running game. Put that together w/ Coach Short who is a mastermind at offense as he played college football at the qb position! LC has never had this quality of coaching staff to coach the talent that we have this year!

OK I have to say this. I'm as big a LC fan that almost anyone on here but to make some of the statements you have made on here is almost insane. I have much respect for the coaching staff but to think that they are one of the best LC has EVER had is a little far fetched. I am good friends with one of the current coaches and have much love for him but will still disagree with this statement. I love to see people and players believe in their staff. To say that Caudill is a better O-line coach that Burchett at Powell County is insane. Tony Burchett is one of the smartest and best o-line coaches around. Alan Short has my respect because of what he has accomplished at Adair County and what he did here at LC during his high school years but to suggest that LC has a better staff than Highlands or even Lex Catholic or Bell County lets me assume that you are either still in High School or very close minded about football across the state. Big Bulldog fan and supporter here, just trying to be realistic.

So for the past 2 years running an offense in the Wing-T didnt allow you to have a running game?? Really? Considering that the Wing-T is almost 80% running and mis-direction counters and sweeps anyway.

And the past two seasons LC has had a 1,000 yard rusher and last year James broke the single season rushing TD record set by Michael West who by any means wasn't too shabby lol. This guy is ridiculous stray. I will say it's a good staff with homegrown talent which is great, but personally I thought Altobello was a good line coach last year.
#78
Ain't nobody dumber than one's own fans.

I wish Lawrence the very best this season. I've heard nothing but positive things from that direction. First game should be fun.

Coach Alto was a great line coach and motivator. He will be missed. Coach Caudill knows football really well I hope he does a great job with the Dawgs this year. Just trying to be realist.

I wasn't saying anything about the LC staff being better than Bells or any other staff, i meant this is the best staff ever at LC! Caudill is the real deal trust me and Short is the best qb coach i have ever seen at the high school level. Mix that in witht he returning talent and we have a state contender baby!!!
#81
C has 14 seniors on the squad this year and six of those are captains including Jake Marcum, Tyler Combs, Hayden Kiser, Lance Clay, Josh Marcum, and Blake Shaffer. All six are returning starters.

I persoanlly think Jimmy Skinner was an excellent qb coach..
#82
Speaking of Skinner where did he end up?
#83
not really sure but I seen pictures on facebook of him helping with some type of a camp, not football.
#84
Alan Short has the potential to be a great coach for a long time.

What did Greenup do with that BB trophy from last year? LOL
#86
I just wanted to wish all of our boys good luck with the season. Some of my bestfriends are on this team and i love them to death. I wish nothing but the best for this team... Id love to see this group of seniors go to the championship this year.
#87
Looking forward to Football season..Dawgs always bring a lot of hometown support and put on a good game.

Without giving away too much information, how's the team looking up front
at the line of scrimmage?
Size
Depth
#89
Size is ok, the offensive line is strong at certain positions and its just molding the entire line together which when it's done can be a good line, some youngsters with talent starting. The defense should show to be the back bone of this team, very tough.
#90
If the line play can come around could mean some fun times at the old ball yard!
