Prestonsburg @ Paintsville 8/27

This game will get ugly early. The final score will be determined by how much experience the Blackcat coaches decide to get the youth on the team.

I hate to see this. The tigers no longer pull in the county kids due to Centrals sucess and are also having a very difficult time competing with soccer. Making boys soccer a spring sport would help a program like paintsville.

I get so sick of hearin that crap about the reason Paintsville isn't any good anymore is because they don't have county kids transferrin in. The 2005 team that went to the Region Finals had a couple kids from the county, but that team would have been NOTHIN without the QB, a homegrown Paintsville boy who was more athletic than anybody in the mountains.

As for the soccer comment, I agree 100%...

Glad you agree on the soccer comment. Soccer and footbal should compliment each other not compete for the same athletes.

The Tigers are actually losing kids who would have been at PHS but end up attending JCHS. They usually make this move in middle school. I may be wrong, but I think there are three young men who attended Paintsville in the past but now go to Johnson Middle and are playing football at JCMS.

I overheard the parents discussing this at a middle school ball game.

That may be the case, but Paintsville's success in the past had nothing to with "pulling kids from the county", cause there weren't many kids from the county playin at Paintsville, and in most cases there weren't any.

And the few that did live in the county had went to Paintsville the whole time.

I guess i didn't explain myself well. Paintsville Tiger fan hit the nail on the head. Paintsville got kids who would have went to the county but didn't for one reason; Walter Brugh. I'm kinda long in tooth because i can remember when either playing in or attending youth football games, and he was always there. Even if Paintsville wasn't playing. I can also remember after games him coming up to me and teammates and opponents and telling us how well we played and what fine footbal players we were all going to be when we got to high school. He never once said, come to Paintsville, but that left a huge impression on all of us. We were kids, and here is the head coach of Paintsville, a coaching legend talking to me. No, I didn't go to Paintsville, but I know guys from Floyd County who did, and they would not trade their experience for anything. they did it for one reason; Walter Brugh.

Prestonsburg by a lot.

Tell me how you know that LC is bigger, stronger, and faster than P'burg. I highly doubt that you've seen Prestonsburg this year. I've seen LC and they are bigger, but they are no stronger than P'burg, and I assure you that they are not faster.

Don't get me wrong though, LC has a great team this year just as they did last year. They will have a fine season once again.

It's going to get ugly tomorrow night. Pburg will dominate them! I'm just trying to figure out whats going on at Paintsville. Is the talent level that bad?

No problem here Prestonsburg can name it's margin of victory! Good future luck to my cousin Freshman #77 lineman Maddy Wright!

Prestonsburg is a good AA football team but they really are no where near Lawrence County's level. They will beat us but not like LC did.

Last year Prestonsburg, SC, and LC were all pretty close. LC and Pburg both had close wins over SC. I would say this years Pburg team is just as good as last year. They lost the QB but their line is alot better. I would say it would be a close game. As for Paintsville, Pburg could easily hang 60 on them.

That's a pretty bold statement. Just like to know what you base your assumptions on?

Always liked the way Prestonsburg played. They play fast and hard with intensity that many teams do not match. Even though they seem to have Breathitt's number, I like the way they play.

I disagre my friend. Very similar. Prestonsburg is a top tier 2A football team. Although, some may try help the Blackcats avoid a ton of hype and pressure this early in the season, This team is poised to make a playoff run. Dont be suprised if they are practicing on Thanksgiving.

Even if Paintsville had more talent then Pburg, I would still pick pburg to win by a few Td's. The coaching staff at Pburg has a lot more knowledge about the game of football and no one can say that im wrong about that. The biggest mistake Kinner has made, is not getting more people involved in his program that has actual coaching experience. With all of the alumni from Paintsville in this area that were great ball players, there is no excuse for having such a young staff. Also, losing Jim Tom Allen and Joe Chirico hurt paintsvilles program, and was a huge gain for pburgs.

Prestonsburg by at least 20 with Paintsville scoring a few scores
