From what I know of Holmes, it is unique and is different than most jobs in the state.
I would guess there are not many schools that have the challenges that Holmes has.
Maybe some of the schools in Jefferson County and some in Fayette, but I am willing to say there are few jobs that have the challenges that Holmes has.
I would say Holmes may be more like a urban Cincinnati school than any urban school in Kentucky.
Covington, in my opinion is more a part of Cincinnati, OH than Kentucky.
Does Booher have family in Northern Kentucky?
Being a state champion would carry a lot of weight.

That's on par with pretty much any other school in the state.
BTW, Henley did pretty much the same thing when he left southern KY to come to Covington. He currently resides in Union, KY.
Thanks man! I didnt know that about the salary. I really hope that Booher holds out for a college offer and I think that he is getting ready to make a big jump. But I do not really know when it will be.

If I where Booher, I would be interested in the the Holmes job. You get your pick from some great athletes and with the system he runs, most of the teams they'll play would struggle to get the ball across the half-court line. Also, you would be able to compete for a state championship every season, not every 5-10 seasons. Not knocking Shelby Valley, but lets face it, we in EKY don't have the state championship type talent come around very often.
This rumor makes sense and it would not surprise me if it has legs to it either.

I agree with ya man! I just think that a higher college offer will come and present itself rather than the Holmes job. I would not blame him if he bolted for this kind of opportunity but I think he may be able to go up to the college level. Either way he is in good shape.

You think that Booher is getting a college job, ha.. i will bet a years salary that he doesn't get a head coaching college job.. and if he gets am assistant college job he will be taking a significant pay cut of 10k or more than he is making now..
05-12-2010, 07:43 AM
in coaching you want adversities, if you really want a career as a basketball coach you have to be able to put up with them and deal with them. if he wants to go to the next level then he will definitely have to be able to deal with off the court issues as well as on the court issues. holmes is the ideal job for booher at this point, hes accomplished every major feat at valley and its time for him to move on. no doubt valley fans wont like it but thats how it is in the sports world. if you are a good coach and your a winning coach other schools want u, and if you want a career your options are open at all times. booher needs this job, sorry valley fans but your coach is gone. whether its to holmes or somewhere else, i dont see him staying another year. its time for him to move up in the coaching world. good luck jason booher!

Booher will be back at Valley. He has not applied at Caly or no where else, trust me.He will be bak at Valley. The 15th will be so weak, he can compete for more titles. No state title but a region title. These are only rumors. No truth to them.

I think that one may come his way if he was to hold out. Im not talking about a job like Miss St or Clemson or some school like that but a smaller school like a NAIA or D III school.

I agree with you to an extent. I think that it is a matter of time when Booher will make the jump but after considering the success I think that it is almost inevitable.

You're wrong here. It's already been confirmed by several different sources that Booher would be leaving Valley and IS indeed interviewing for the Holmes job this week.
Whether he takes it or gets it, is what's up for debate. The interest from both sides is certainly there though.
05-12-2010, 09:56 AM
Trust me again, he will be at Valley. He will not interview there or will he anywhere else. His family is here and he will stay here.Your info is wrong.
05-12-2010, 10:18 AM
he's apparently expressing a lot of interest in other jobs for a guy that plans to be back at Valley.
05-12-2010, 10:55 AM
It is a fact that he has showed interest in Clay Co, so much so as to bring his resume and hand deliver it.
05-12-2010, 10:58 AM
He may be showing that he is really interested in a raise.
05-12-2010, 10:59 AM
He is telling the people over here different. He may have something else up his sleeve. My money tells me he will be at Valley. He told the players that also.I know this for a fact.Remember letcher and Pike are very close together.

i dont see him going to homles after winning the state championship in sv

What does Letcher and Pike being closer together have anything to do with it.
My opinion if Holmes offers him the job he will be leaving Valley.
05-12-2010, 12:58 PM
I hear Holmes will be making a decision in a couple of weeks and Booher is not at the top of the list.

Of course he isn't going to tell the folks around him and his players that he's leaving. No sensible coach would.
Dave Henley did the same thing when he was approached about the North Oldham job. When he finally made a decision to leave, he sat down and spoke with athletic director, Ron Madrick, before he made it official to the public and his players.
If Holmes offers him the job, I have a feeling he's gone. Henley's wife was a Pikeville native as well but that didn't stop him from moving to nky.
I've also heard that he's shown interest in the Clay Co and Bardstown jobs as well.

Holmes will announce who the new coach is on Monday May 24th.
I'd say Booher and Wright are both at the top of Holmes' list as far as experience goes, but the general public seems to think Tim Sullivan (former Holmes player and assistant coach) will be the person who gets the job. His mother, Linda, was a Holmes admin back in the early 2000's before retiring.

So Booher won't miss much if he goes to Holmes, it's just as political as SV.

I've heard several different names thrown out there but the only ones that I know for sure have/will interview are:
Jason Booher (interviewed today0
Tim Sullivan (Cooper)
Champ Ligon (Bryan Station)
Brad Carr (Scott)
Steve Wright (South Laurel)
I've also heard a few other names from KY and OH will be interviewed.

Thats a pretty nice list...
I'd say Champ Ligon gets the nod

From what I have been told, there were only six coaches interviewed, and none from Ohio.
There is a lot of misinformation out there regarding who applied and who interviewed.
It's a great opportunity for the next coach.

That is confirmed on the Booher interview. I think he is beginning to take that plunge into the college game. Going here would be a stepping stone but I think that Booher may end up staying and get a look from a NAIA school or D III school next year.

Actually, most of the Valley fans have accepted this already. We all figured that this would be Booher's last blaze of glory with the senior class, and what a blaze it was!
I feel pretty confident in saying that 95% of the Valley fanbase is not shocked that he is looking to leave. If he does, I wish him well, unless his new team is playing SV of course!
