Johnson Central Schedule 2010

Keepnitreal Wrote:I couldn't agree more. Ashland returns a lot and you don't get any breaks at Putnam. If you let Ashland keep it close, you will lose at Putnam. Remember 2005 and "wide right"?

Not that the truth is any way near as entertaining a notion as your version of the story but, the endzone copy of the game clearly shows the kick off to the right.:HitWall: But thank you for saying that Ashland returns a lot, they feel like this years team will not disappoint. Should be a good game & most are looking forward to that night.

RealisticView Wrote:AND THEY WILL BOYLE lays the beat down on the most over hyped team in the mountains. Most 5a schools would look impressive sitting in land of 1a 2a 3a schools. Said it once, and ill say it again, cant beat the big boys. Shot themselves in the foot and get bet by 40. take off the gold tinted glasses my friend. For those interested, Horn Lake game was bought out. Matney knows enough to stay away from that bunch of stone cold killers.

For those interested RealisticView is a liar. The Horn Lake Game was not bought out by Johnson Central it was Horn Lake that decided not to come back. It's just another attempt to get on here and spew his lies about the Johnson Central football program. You better be worrying about your own program. Heck they got beat by a team that wasn't even allowed to practice the week of the game last year and I'm talking about Powell County. Who told you that we bought the game out? Where's your proof? Put a name on here and I'll asked this individual personally about his information.

There must be nothing going on over in ole Magoffin County for you to be on a Johnson Central thread flaming again. Just be patient the first of the month is just around the corner and then every thing will pick back up and business will be booming.

charlie22 Wrote:So you are predicting a similar margin of victory for Boyle this year?

Probably not. Boyle is replacing a lot of key people but the defense will still be pretty solid, especially against "ground oriented" attacks. I expect it to be a good game but still think Boyle will win.

Fair enough. And JC is certainly a "ground oriented" attack. Should be a fun game to watch this year. Can you see about moving it to a Saturday so I can come down to watch?

I'll say this about JC last year: they were a completely different team at the end of the year than they were at the beginning. I saw them play Ashland in what was their 5th game I believe. JC won, but I was terribly unimpressed. Fumbles, missed tackles, heads dropped down, poor coordination between qb and running backs on handoffs/fakes, they looked out of shape, and bad pass defense. It just really surprised me as I'd thought they be dominating last year. I thought they'd smoke Ashland. To JC's credit, they did come back to win the game, but it was on a last play TD pass that they probably couldn't complete again if they tried it another 100 times. But at least they won. If I recall properly, that was the first game that Dillon played last year (and he only played sparingly).

By the time I saw them live again (vs Highlands in the playoffs) Dillon was again an impact player like he had been his junior year, the coordination between the qb and the rbs was vastly improved, and their pass defense was somewhat improved. I don't think they lost one fumble in that game, if I recall properly. Kids held their heads up throughout the game. Just a different completely different team.

Lest people think that the only reason JC looked better offensively at the end of the year was because Highlands run defense wasn't that good, keep in mind that Cincy X didn't move the ball at all against Highlands defense on the ground. In the last regular season game Highlands held Ryle's very good running back (Elliott) to less than 100 yds rushing, which was the first time that had happened all year (and maybe was the only time it happened). Highlands run defense was pretty good. Also keep in mind that JC looked poor in that fifth game against Ashland. Ashland had an okay team last year, but I wouldn't characterize Ashland as being really strong last year and they got beat badly by Dixie Heights in the playoffs. Dixie lost twice by about 50 points to Highlands last year. If comparing scores has only a little validity, unless JC improved a lot during the year Highlands should have beaten JC by 70 plus points. Obviously that didn't happen. Which indicates at least to me that JC improved dramatically during the course of the year.

I attribute JC's improvement during the year to 3 things in the following order of importance: the better coordination between qb and rbs on handoffs and fakes which eliminated a lot of fumbles; the return of Dillon (THE leader of that team last year); and being in better shape.

If, with JC's qb and two of the three backs returning, they are able to eliminate the frequent fumbles; if several of the returning starters can replace Dillon's leadership; and if they start the season in shape, I too expect the game this year between Boyle and JC to be much closer and I won't be surprised if either team wins.

I don't have a dog in the Boyle vs JC debate going on, but that is what I observed last year and think could happen this year.

I could not have said it better. JC did have a second half blow up at the highlands game fumbling the ball inside there own 20 yard 2 or 3 times. Highlands just had fresher legs coming in and of the game great game to watch. Boyle co is in for a big surprise this year if they think that this is the same bunch. As far as someone wanting to draw me a picture and color it for me please do and then bring it to me. I like one with an eagle on it. lol

How do you think that they will do against Bell County?

Come on man just tone it down and let our boys play the game on the field. I like your enthusiasm but all you do is open the door up for haters to come in and crash the party.

I do not know if they will beat either bell or Boyle co. I do believe that they will be tough battles and will only make all 3 teams better. As long as everyone stays healthy.

Is that the film that mysteriously disappeared? I'd sure like to see it!

Ashland has a game film for every game they play at home and away in their archives. Does your athletic department not film their games?

Sure do.......and it shows the football going through the uprights!

I am sure glad that JC is on our schedule it will make us better.

Like wise, I like having the tough schedule even if you lose a few games. Winning is more important in the play offs. I do hope that we can find good teams to scrimmage, so we can find out the things we need to work on before the opener.

I don't know if they show anything different. I've only heard of Ashland's goal post cam video, but nobody has ever actually seen it. Kind of like Bigfoot!

Before the Ashland game this year our film was shown to the 2009 team including the "missed field goal" several times.

JC did fumble the ball deep in their territory (around the 25) on their first possession of the second half. Highlands scored quickly to make it 28-14. On their second possession, Highlands forced them to punt deep in JC territory. Highlands returned it to around JC's 35 and then again scored quickly to make it 35 to 14. On JC's next possession, under heavy pressure from Highlands nose man, JC's qb over threw Dillon on a screen pass and Highlands intercepted at around JC's 30. Highlands again scored to make it 42 to 14. After exchanging punts, Highlands pulled most of their starters. Highlands O was driving the ball out past mid field and fumbled the ball at around JC's 40 yd line. JC scored towards the end of the game to make it 42-21. JC had only the one lost fumble but did also have an interception. Each team had one lost fumble setting up a score by the opponent. JC had the one interception and Highlands had none.

Nobody who knows anything about Ashland football ever said there is a goal post cam at Putnam Stadium. What there is though is a film platform in the endzone. So you psyche the players up for a game by telling them they got cheated?

back to the opening games that jc has it would be great for both teams and fans if PRESTONSBURG HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL COACH DEROSSETT WOULD bring his BLACKCATS to the EAGLE S NEST FOR THE APPT. BOWL the invite is there all you have to do is CALL you know the basketball, and baseball coach is not afraid to come to the NEST

Putnam stadium is one of my favorite places to watch a High School football game. The atmosphere there shows that everyone of the Ashland fans when they walk through the gates expects to win.And that is a good thing. In the 2008-2009 season I went and watched 4 games there. And still didnt even miss any of our games.I can't wait til the new field is done it will definitely be one of the best places in the state to watch a High School football game.I really hope that we get to play Ashland every year.It has become one of the best rivalries in the state and the fan excitement is one of the best also.If there is a few of the Ashland fans on here keep us up to date on the progress of the new field.I saw the scale model this year at the basketball games. It w looked like it was going to be a beautiful facility.

Thanks, I must say I appreciate your kind remarks. From what I've heard Ashland's new stadium is still a few years out. Hope to see you this fall!:thanks:

No undies in a wad here pal, I'm just stating the truth. You're a liar and thats about as plain as I can put it. You get on here and rag on the Johnson Central football program every chance you get and act like your from Magoffin County when we all know where you're from. You may follow the Hornets but we all know that you're a gutless Paintsville tiger fan who hides behind a user name to bash the program. Am I correct? You've been warned time and time again but yet your still allowed to get on here and post anything you want and turn every thread you post in into an argument.

You still never answered my question. Where did you get your "truth"from? Come on know it all put your money where your mouth is.

OK. Former Horn Lake assistant pirncipal Duane Case, who is no longer with the school, happens to be a friend of mine. He told me, John Cooley, head football coach, was informed the trip to ky.for the 2010 season had been canceled after speaking with school officials in KY. " They informed us they wanted to explore other options." NOW TAKE THAT MONEY I JUST PUT IN YOUR MOUTH AND BET IN ON THE 6 AND THE 12 HORSE AT THE DERBY TOMORROW.
