Pike County Central 2010
#31
Great post Coach M,

People get loss with what other schools have to offer, but little do they know, the "Hawks" have a big "Hawks-Nest" to pool from, so you are right, its not who is leaving, but who is stepping up next season, I think we can take our own feeder schools and be "Very" productive for the next several years to come:

People have already dismissed what a great group of young players, several freshman this year coming up, you read where Belfry is grooming their middle school, but so is Central, get ready the "Hawks" will not be overlooked in the years to come:

SC has their work cut out for them with Pike Central and Belfry for several years, so 3rd may be a spot that a really good program may find themselves in for years to come.....

but who in the right mind would switch from pike central to pikeville.
Pikeville has alot of players that played this year that arent playing next year.Pike central made it farther AND they have a better coach
And on the plus side pike central is getting some transfers for next year

I highly doubt PC could easily replace him, they aren't a giant school with there second and third string being just as good as the first string
who in there right mind wouldnt swtich from PC to Pikeville? PC has had ONE good year out of there whole school history and that was this year, and now they think they're great because of it, I hope they stay good because alot of people are gonna be awful dissapointed if they aren't any good next year
Pikeville will have what they need next year and im sure after the offseason is over the kids that claim they aren't playing will, and a couple new faces as well
Yeah, congratulations, you make it farther than Pikeville for the first time EVER and your automatically heads above Pikeville program, thats a laugh :thatsfunn, and coach champman is a great coach no doubt but hes had more experience than Ben and his staff, but with time they will easily have the better coaching staff if they are allowed to and the administration dosen't screw things up again, dont get me wrong, Im all for PC doing great and having a great program for years to come, but I wouldn't be so quick to talk down against Pikeville when your now just getting in line of good Pike Co. teams, Belfry,Pikeville and soon to be Shelby Valley

wooderson Wrote:Yep thats the word. At this stage of the discussion i would say the chances are around 60-40 in favor of him going to Pikeville. Personally I think it would be a huge mistake but the people whispering in his ear may have caught his attention as well as his families.

I wouldn't consider it a mistake at all unless PC knows for a fact they will be making it out of Region next year, which they don't, aside from Belfry and Sheldon Clark being in PC's way, Russell and Mason Co. will have something to say about that as well, PC will be looking at best a 3rd spot in there district behind Belfry and SC next year at best

"Watcher"!

You have got to be kidding with your last post! I know you must be a die hard Pikeville Fan, but give credit where credit is due! You talk a great game with "The Pikeville Tradition", but look over the list of good players Pikeville has had over the years....Most of which lived outside the City in Pike Centrals district...Just a few now....Tackett twins (Green Meadows) Randy Maynard (Coon Creek) Gavin Miller (Cowpen) Mark Branham (Fords Branch) in your past Bob Shurtleff (Polly Addition at the time outside the City Limits) Kenny Damron ( Island Creek) and for some Floyd County Taste Matt Gibson (Harold) Connor Pack (Mare Creek) some more in the past taken from the Shelby Valley area....Too many to count, so give it a break with the tradition talk, the only tradition is where do we need to get our next players from???? The maybe the Howard team of Father/Son will have some talent to coach, until then leave kids like Zack Johnson alone and let him play ball... At least when Chapman come to Pike Central, it was not a package deal to bring his son Jonathan to run the ball, oh, I forgot, he got hurt and you lost out on that deal also....

Just a Post Script for Watcher..... I think Pike Central would love to play Pikeville any year, we could use the "W" to help put us in the running with Belfry and SC, I know you give them an easy "W" each year. Our JV did play Pikeville this last year....Thanks for that "W" too!

Seems like any program Chapman gets involved with, starts to rise. He won many games at PHS

That game has been tried to schedule the past 3 years but the coaches couldn't come to an agreement on where to play. Both fields are like a home game? Just start the rotating series that should of been started a long time ago

If...Then,

Hard to understand what the issue is....Both locations are fine to host a game...And in the near future, it is rumored that PCCHS will be adding Turf, I say flip a coin for where to play first, and go with your rotation...I think the fan base would support both teams quiet well, and the schools could make some really good money at the gate, and that would be a good rival to renew...

What have you heard on why they can't come to an agreement?

I do remember a year or two back...Pikeville, withdrew from playing "any" Pike County teams on the Middle School level and had to retract and schedule a few when they were not getting their schedule filled...I do understand they like to play the Lexington, and Covington and Louisville teams, but they are knocking themselves out of a lot of gate money when they have a home game and people don't travel 200-250 miles to watch a High School ballgame. I have to admit...I did enjoy traveling to Mason County to watch the Hawks play, but a nice hometown game would do just fine, so talk to everyone you know and get this thing ready to rumble!:rockon

go tell all this to your schools admin because they have been the thorn in the side of this idea since Mac was around the first time at PC...

hahaha im done debating with you on the matter, your obviously still high off your schools first & only year of success in football, tickles me to death when ppl trash talk when they've never had any room to before and there school has yet to prove they can be good year in and year out, I will say that Pikeville would have lost this year if they played PC, but I doubt i'll be able to say that again for a few years, & yes, Belfry has beaten us good these last few years, but again, they beat PC just as easy, actually easier, with the exception of this year, & at least we can say we've beaten them before, you can't, and proably never will, and you wouldn't have beaten SC this year if they didn't have 10 spots being filled with 2nd stringers your first go around eithier, so be thankful for the good luck you recieved this year and hopefully PC's team will be good enough to fill the shoes your putting them in for next season:worthy:

"The Watcher"

Thanks for that boost you gave in your last post....The bottom line is your team is starting to see players not coming to "Pikeville" and just hope for a rebuilding year...."Somewhere" down the road, yea, SC had a few players out, but all you have to throw up is what if's....You are right about one thing...PC would have put a whipping on the "Pikeville" team this year, and may never do it again in the future..Due to Pikeville not wanting to play PC, so there you go brag about your great team, and hide behind the staff not allowing the game to take place...Maybe I can put in a few what if's here....What if Pikeville can get some more players from Texas, West Virginia, and everywhere else they can find them..Then maybe the staff may change their mind, and play the game.......

Don't sing it,BRING it! :beavis:

I think its mostly because Pikeville wants their District schedule and then bigger schools to get better with. Cause nobody saw Central coming this year. Still, a two school town rivalry would be something people look forward to every year. Like how Paintsville and JC used to have the Apple Bowl? We could have the Hillbilly Bowl!

Its all just to easy isnt it?
#43
If...Then,

Nice post! That would be something people in this area would be enticed to attend......Maybe PC Vs Pikeville one year, Pikeville Vs Belfry one year then PC Vs Belfry....Maybe if the School staff(s) would see through the fog, they could see they have the ability to give people in this area something to look forward each year....Who knows...It may be some evenly matched contest:

I hate to debate with some people who are so single focused on topix, that its nice to see a well written post that would bring challenge to the schools instead of having to post what if's and so on.....

I don't think any of the eastern Kentucky schools are any better than the others, and the thought of having a game each year to have bragging rights until the next year would be something these 3 schools would play hard for.

I have said in other posts that Pikeville has a great tradition, and if a kid chooses to attend Pikeville, then he should be able to do so...I will be the first to say that a school with a large number of kids enrolled example: St X, Trinty, and some of the 6A schools should be heads above the single A programs, but Pikeville has a desire to win and that is why people choose Pikeville to be the one's they want to beat....

I picked PC for my Kids to attend for educational reasons, and sports second...Central was ranked 28th in the state, and 1st in the region in test scores. Parents who care about education will always encourage sports to keep the child on the right track, and for physical health reasons, but your post was a good way to suggest a game worthy of a 3 team matchup!

well SC was third this year because they lost to PC and belfry but when they had all there players they beat both teams and as long as we stay healthy we will not come in third again next year.

It appears to me from watching the district teams play this past season, there are three teams that are going to be very competitive, PCC, Belfry, and SC.

Last season Belfry got a slow start, and SC seemed to fall apart after the JC game, and didn't get it back together until the play-offs. But it seemed to me that PCC was firing on all cylinders most of the season, including the play-offs.

Good luck to all district teams, and my they have an injury free season.
#50
I can't wait to see PCC's season get started! Should be a very exciting year!!!:1:
#51
With 2010 year upcoming, we need to support the "Hawks" and let the players know they are special, and can play with anyone in the Region!

Players come, Players go, but to maintain a positive attitude should be here to stay!

I think this district will be the one everyone will be watching this year. It will be the most competitive and definitely the most interesting. Can't wait to see which games are broadcast on live on TV!!!

What is this i hear that the Boggs kid was walking around wal mart with the Hollon. I had heard he was coming. If this so Pike has a new QB. I can see Breathitt style offense . The air attack. Sound Fun .
#55
People may be looking in to this more than they should. Coach Hollon and the Boggs family have been friends for many years. The Boggs kid’s father and Hollon grew up together and played football together; they are great friends and their boys are best friends as well. :CE_DP_Ste

Boggs is now a student at pike central!
#57
I don't think I like PCC but love the colors.
#58
Good luck in 2010

looking forward to a great season!! Good Luck Hawks

Not to worry about the "new" kid... If it wasn't a "viable" transfer it will be investigated.... This is Pike County..... Always some drama going on here!!!
