2. Hatcher is originaly a Willamson area native, his mother is very sick and lives in Willamson still. He is looking to relocate closer to home to take care of her and to finish out his carrier at what ever school is closest and has an open job. What a conveince that the Pike Central job has now/will open(ed) up. Not to mention a certain coach in the 14th is also looking to relocate around this area. (would love to see a combo with a big helping assistant)
3. Johnny Martin is looking to get back into coaching so dont be surprised if one of the two above me does not some how happen that he will be the next coach. Possibly but not positively. (The Running Hawks?)
Just some insight
Insight from as far inside as you can get.
1 - NO
2 - No
3 - Maybe.

Is #12 Seal still on the active roster for Pike Central?

From what I hear Hatcher sees the cupboard is bear after losing Maggard and Amis at PCC so he is heading to Pike CEntral, heard they were going to give him a few days to decide after PCC season comes to an end and he will accept.

I don't know why anyone would want to coach at PC. With the way they rotate coaches. It is stupid. The boys need more discipline and in my opinion they need someone that is not afraid of the players. It is all about I on that team. I have spoke to several of the players on the team and all they say is there is no respect for the coach. There does need to be a change not only with the coach but the boys and whole system. Politics is what it is all about. From what I've been told is that Eugene Lyons may be the next one in.

I think that you are going to hear Hatcher's name in pretty much every conversation concerning any "big school" coaching vacancies, which is a testament to his abilities.
I'm not all that familiar with Pike Central, so I can't comment on what type of team they have coming up, but I do feel safe in saying that Perry Central will never have a bare cupboard. There may be years were they aren't considered the best team in the region, but they will always be in the running especially with Hatcher at the helm.

You are right the boys need more dicipline but more than that they are hungry for leadership. When I played, I didn't understand at the time, the game of basketball is more than just a sport it is life long lessons. Coaches need to understand that and teach/lead these young men in order to make them better understand and be more respectful in everyday life. Coaches must respect themselves and treat others with respect in order to gain the respect of others. PC would be a great place to coach for the right person.

I heard from a very reliable concrete source that Hatcher will be the next coach.

Hatcher, would be a great coach for any team to get. He knows how to get the best out of his kids. I don't know his situation but you can bet PCC will do what ever it takes to get him to stay. IMO, he should be COY in the 14th!!!!!!!

Now that season is almost over, has anyone heard anything else concerning the coaching situation at Pike Central?

WoW!! Is there any truth to this? If Pike Central gets Wells they would be making a serious statement about their basketball program. Look at what he did at Mason Co. He would be a great steal and the powers to be in Pike Co would look pretty good by making this kind of commitment to the kids, people and program at Pike Central. Makes things a lot easier when the support is there at the top to get a top notch person. He is a great person and great coach. This would be a great move by the administration if this happens.

Wells opted to stay at Pikeville College for now..Hatcher turned it down Wednesday morning now that Martin has transferred in to Perry Central. Hearing possibly Eddie Whitaker, Johnny Martin, heard Randy McCoy called, and several others. Remember job still isn't posted. Time will tell.

He hasn't got the job done at Clay Co and has alienated most of the people from the program. He was kind of like Gillispie, a little bit over his head at that program.
When the players won't play for you, the fans won't come to the games, and the former greats don't have confidence in you, it's time for a change.
I think a change was about to be made anyway, one way or the other and Spurlock getting the job at PC is the best for both parties involved.:please:

It has been alot harder on Clay since SL was moved into the region. It is also hard to coach at a school were everybody tries to compare you to Bobby Keith who is one of the greatest high school coaches to ever coach the game.

Remember, three of the best kids at their school, starters, refused to play for Spurlock. He tried to make it a football vs basketball thing and he lost all three. With those kids, he wins the region easily last season and possibly the year before.
And believe me, nobody compares him to Bobby Keith.
