Good luck Pikeville...I hope things work out.

I was at the coference and it was like a ruinion for all the previous players and i hope to see that many show up at the game!!!!

All it takes everyone is getting the right people in and that is what Pikeville has done with this so far coaching staff. Landing Mac back as and Asst and not a head coach was a wonderful move by the Pikeville admin. Coach Mac couldnt take the scrutny of the parents and now he will not have to deal with that as much and can finally enjoy coaching at Pikeville rather then being miserable. Great move by the Panthers and I hope the best for your alls program. Good Luck on next season from a fellow Pike Central alum.

I am not a Hillard fan but I like Ben and Mac and wish them the best of luck at Pikeville.

HAIL PIKEVILLE! Wrote:Ive said before that all Ben, Mac and the rest of the staff have to do is get the kids out that havent played in the past few years and we could be a contender as early as this year. I saw alot of kids at the press conference today that were sitting up front with the team that I never thought Id see play football again. They already have done a great job as far as getting some new faces. Theyve got some more work to do before spring ball but if this is any sign its not gonna takes us as long as some think to get back on track. We have alot of talent at the LL levels as shown last year and IMO we will see marked improvement in the JR high program as well(To be honest it dosent have anywhere to go but up from last year). As far as community support goes we had more people at the press conference today than at alot of our homegames this year (Playoffs included). I commented to a freind of mine today that the whole feel around this place has done a complete 180 from what it was a month ago. Now its time for these boys and the coaching staff to get to work. The Pike County Bowl is only six months away and I cant wait!

:notworthy This post says it perfectly.

Give Pikeville time...they will be back...

Congratulations Ben, Mcnamee, and the rest of the staff. As others have stated it wont take long before Pikeville is back on top where they are expected to be. Kudos go as well to the alumni at Pikeville for standing up to the school and forcing them to make a quality hire. Generations of football players to come at Pikeville owe you a debt of gratitude for breathing life into a program that had been on life support.

You may not be a fan, but he sure is a winner and knows how to motivate. A lot of people have slept well because he was at the helm. He and Dickie Vanhoose knew how to start them young and how to keep them motivated. If Ben has inherited any of these qualities (and apparently he has), he too will be a first class winner. :1:

Good luck to and your new program

I think this was a good hire for the Panthers.

Good luck on the new era Pikeville!

Good luck!

Goodluck to Coach Howard

Do not see how pville considers this a great hire very little head coaching experince only had one other head coaching job and could not make it to the first practice and quit. If they were getting Hillard I would say that pville would be much improved but they are not. next year pville will be an above average 1a school just like last year

This is a question for all the Pikeville fans out there -- Don't it make you feel good to know that in less than a week the Maroon intimidation factor is back and Pond creek is shaking like preschoolers at a horror film?

"OUCH!!!!", But it does seem reasonable.

Ben isnt like most rookie head coaches. This guy has been around great coaches since he was born. Hes learned from his dad and Bill Allara who are both legends. Hes coached at the college level under National Champion caliber coaches at Georgetown. Plus with Mcnamee on the staff he has 15 years of head coaching experience to lean on if he needs it. Not mention any advice his dad would be more than happy to give him. With that support system its going to be hard to be anything else but a success. And IMO it wont take long.

All right guys, cool it. I just deleted a bunch of posts that didn't need to be on this thread, but I didn't hand out any infractions this time.

Keep this thread to discussing the new hire and what it means to the Pikeville program. If you don't think it was a good hire, that's fine, just state your reasons (as long as it's not a personal attack) and move on.

More garbage on here will lead to infractions.

Hail Pikeville, couldn't agree more. Dont mean to think too far ahead but any word about the possibility of Hillard on the sidelines[PHS] next season????

I listened to the radio broadcast of the press conference. If one could read between the lines as to some of the things Ben was saying. Hillard will be walking the sidelines in Maroon this fall.
Dont you remember Bens comment about the super of Letcher schools counting on 2 coaching vacancies to fill?
I also wouldnt be surprised to see Bill Allara back out there as well.

At this point.....I can't agree more Ball Boy. Glad someone else sees the light.

good luck ben

I hope some of the naysayers are around 3 or 4 years from now so I can say I told you so.

Ben has been around the game, is surrounding himself with quality people, has played and coached on the college level,is a good teacher, and has the support of the community except for some folks that live in glass houses and shouldn't throw stones.

Will Pikeville football be "fixed" in a year? No
Was this the right hire at this time??? Absolutely

My grandmother always said "if you don't have anything good to say, keep your mouth shut".
I wish more people had a grandmother like mine.

Amen, Fox.... they could have learned a lot!

good luck

The LCC question needs to be started in a new thread.
