IF we can play like this throughout SEC play, theres no reason we shouldnt be SEC champs or runner up... I prefer champs myself :p Congrats UK on an awesome win, and congrats Meeks on an unreal performance. I've had ppl tell me that dont even like UK, that after that game, Meeks should be considered for Player Of the Year.

Makes me think of old times when kentucky won every game like this. I got a feeling the CATS are on there way back to domination again.UK is most definitely ON The Rise!

Huge SEC win on the road for UK. If we TCB with the Dawgs Sat, we should be ranked Monday.
UK alone at 1st place in the SEC East at 2-0
Feels like the old days again with this win!!!!

No, he worked for Tubby Smith. If you want to give Tubby a hard time over the recruits that didn't pan out than you have to give him credit for the good ones. I have never heard anyone blame Rigot for poor recruiting classes.

Who said we needed a third scorer. Meeks scored enough for two.

Just because he was the head coach doesn't mean he was the recruiter. You give credit to the recruiter. Since you seem to know about Tubby recruiting, why the heck is Jared Carter a scholarship player??? That's a waste!!!

Might as well jump all over the guys at North Carolina for recruiting Carter too.
Another note from the game.
Porter's stat line. 5 points, 6 assists, 3 turnovers.

Meeks has been getting alot of love from ESPN this morning.
A little of topic here but does anybody else thin Hannah Storm has gotten to be a hottie?

Another secret I will let you in on, is that Rigot doesn't do all the recruiting. You see, in recruiting, there's crap loads of recruiters. I didn't know if you were aware of that but you know now. And yep, looks like another wonderful performance for Porter. Might go down as one of the best PG in UK history!!!

Who is responsible for the recruiting? Are you saying all of these assistants go out and recruit kids without the consent of the Head Coach? I don't think so.

As insane as it may be for you to comprehend this but yeah, the recruiter himself has the final call on to offer or not. He is the one there watching the games, and that my friend is what Tubby lacked. If Tubby was even a decent recruiter he would be one of the best coaches around. This is looking to be a good learning experience for you tho. With all this knowledge your taking in, this is going to be a heck of a day for you.

Meeks is the man!! He turned it on big time last night. Great game to watch.

Yes we are all learning alot.
You really believe that Rigot and the othere assistants went out and recruited kids without Tubby's input and say so? I know they evaluate talent and do alot of the leg work but wouldn't you agree that the head coach has the final say so based on the input from the assistants and scouts?
Also do me a favor. We can start another thread on this topic or pm and we can talk about there. You and I both are derailing this thread from the topic which is the UK/Tenn. game.

Not a secret. Rigot recruited who Tubby told him to recruit. So yes Meeks goes in the books as a Tubby Smith recruit.

Actually it goes down as a Rigot recruit. Might wanna check it out on catspause.com. Go to commitment list and click on the 2005 class. Beside Meeks name it will say recruiter.

You're right as far as who the recruiter was, but he is still a Tubby Smith recruit. Meeks didn't come to Ky to play for Scott Rigot, he came to play for Tubby.

Yeah, he came to play for Tubby, but that doesn't mean Tubby gets the credit. There are tons of recruiters from each school that gets the player most of the time.

Tubby is why Meeks came.. He said in a interview, he said if Tubby was still at Georgia then there was a good chance he would have been a Georgia Bulldog

Meeks has been amazing all year, but it took this unreal performance for the nation to start paying attention.
Great game all around for UK, I think miller had a great game as he finally hit some shots, and done a wonderful job on defense.
Has anyone visited KSR today and looked at some of the supposed trash talking that went on during the game, it's priceless.

Fisrt of all, congrats to Meeks on a terrific game, he was the best player anywhere on the court last night and yes, he definitely should be in contention for player of the year, over all candidates. He carries this team whether Patterson is on his game or not, just like last year with Crawford and Bradley. I, like many other people on here, was wondering why Liggins and Harrellson didnt play at all, not that UK needed them last night, with Meeks playing like he did. Money Maker, Meeks was a Tubby recruit, I dont care if Rigot did most of the leg work. Do you actually think that he didnt or doesnt go watch games or video tape, and do research on the players he recruits, come on, I know you are smarter than that. People need to start giving the man his due, he was and is a great coach, and he can recruit, may not be 5 star players, but they are players that give everything they have and work their butts off for the team. You do know he was one of the recruiters himself when he coached under Pitino at UK right? Or was that a secret that you knew nothing about? You seem to know everything, you should have known that. Tubby is in Minnesota now, leave the man alone, focus on the idiot we now have at UK.

Old times like Tubby and Ricky P - I TOTALLY AGREE.
Congrats to Meeks and more importantly, congrats on the best win in UK basketball in 3 years. Meeks had never won at Tennessee? WOW. A win over Georgia and the Cats are ranked come Monday in the weak SEC. There's not gonna be a heads-turning win for Kentucky in the SEC unless they continue to blow others out of the water like they did last night and that's not gonna happen. But, UK seized what little opportunity there is in the league to get a "good win" on the road.
Still, no marquee win for the Cats - but a marquee performance from Meeks!
BTW - I can't stand Bruce Pearl, couldn't happen to a better man dressed in Orange.

Congrats Cats on the big win. Lets get ready for the next game and get in that top 25.

Anytime that a unranked team beats a ranked team that is a marquee win. I know it sounds crazy but thats how things are. Give credit where credit is do.

You have to be stupid to think the tennessee game wasn't a marque win. Tenessee was ranked 24th, picked to win the SEC, and on there home court. We embarrassed them 90-72 in front of all there fans. We beat them by 18 the same team who beat #12 georgetown by 10 an also beat marquette. I think its safe to label that as a marque win.
