Wurtland 6th beat West Carter 6th last night by 6. They pulled the starters in the 4th qtr. while up double digits, then game got down to 3, put in starters to hold them off. Makes their record 6-2.
Wurtland 7th won by 11. Think final score was 44-33. They are now 3-6.
Wurtland 8th won by 30ish. I think the final was 60-25. I believe they are now 6-3.

what do you or anybody suggest that lewis needs to do . being a person thats outside of the circle looking in.

Lewis hardly got manhandled by Wurtland, they have 4 pretty good sized boys, neither team done anything to brag about. Lewis missed 40 shots and Wurtland hardly had a better nite, they just hit more than Lewis did. Course both teams had lost games and practice due to the weather, next meeting should be interesting

Lewis beat W.Carter in a makeup game tonight. W. Carter played almost the 1st half without their starters. If LC had a better defense they could be contenders. # 20 had 10 rebounds and #40 had several the rest stays on the key. If they had more help under the basket, Lewis could really shake things up.

And there is one who rides the pine a lot who will go in there and crack heads with any body,i think they had a few rebounds and a couple of blocks the short time they were in there.

I will be seeing Lewis/Mckell 7th/8th tonight, I will be able to give my opinions after I see the games. I have heard a lot about these 2 teams and I will be able to judge for myself tonight. Hope I don't make anyone

I talked with Coach Lowe today, he had to discipline about 4 starters. He put them into the game with about 4 minutes to go in 2nd Q, said that Lewis jumped out 19-4 after 1st Q, then LC put 5 new players in and WC made it 22-21 LC @ half. But Coach L said that LC played there best 5 3rd Q and was up 8 or 9 after 3rd. Lewis subbed a little in 4th but said West had nothing for them when they played there best team, and lost by 12. West has there tourney this coming weekend and a couple make up games next week. Keep working hard Comets, keep improving.

Who all are in the region..

Lewis did good aginst west considering most rode the pine last year and some also didn't make the cut .

12-24-2008, 04:43 PM
yeah a couple of those who rode the pine last year, had an outstanding game, one of those boys had 12 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals 3 assists, and 1 blocked shot...............this way by far his best game yet.
12-24-2008, 06:16 PM
I thought West was the best team last year? What happen to them?

Someone correct me if I am wrong there is one conference ?(OVC)split into two divisons. I am pretty sure this is how the teams are split up.
one division has
Rose Hill
Russell
East Carter
Ironton before anyone starts screaming they are not in the conference they were in it last year and won this sides OVC tournament.
Ashland
Boyd
Rowan
The other has
West Carter
Raceland
Fairview
Elliott
Lewis
Mckell
Wurtland

Yes, I believe those are how there setup. 8th grade, Ironton is easily the best. The other division 8th is Wurtland and probably Raceland. 7th grade is Rose Hill and Rowan Co. Other division 7th is Lewis and Elliott. These are your better teams in 7th/8th and each division. Russell and West Carter 8th grade teams each have players playing up on freshman,JV, and Varsity teams, not playing MS.

Raceland 6th grade won the Raceland tournament beating two solid teams in Lewis and Wurtland to capture the championship this past weekend. Raceland 6th grade now runs it's record to 20-5 on the season. They will play Ft. gay in the Semi-finals of the Boyd Co. tourney with Lawrence and Russell going in the other semi-final matchup.

How did Elliot 6th grade do in that tourney?????
Romans 14:11
It is written: " 'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.' "

Elliot was not there as were a lot of other teams we were told would be in it, Russell being one of those teams. The JFL ran this tournament and poorly at that. Raceland 6th grade didn't know they were in it until the night before the tournament. They were already in the Boyd tournament, and to top it all off Raceland 6th grade was put in back to back games against Lewis and then Wurtland on the final night. After they won the tournament the JFL didn't even give out a single trophy to the kids not even a team trophy. Our 6th grade wants to hold a tournament after the Russell tournament, and try to get Elliot and all of the best teams in the region.

DEVILOLOGIST Wrote:Russell 7th and 8th have only lost to RoseHill, our 6th grade has not lost. They are 8-0, they beat East Carter tonight 34-22, I think that was the score, the starter only played about 8 minutes of the game.
You are always putting that the starters only play a small amount of time, I can't see the starters only playing a small amount of the time 8 minutes that is less than half the game with the score being as close as 12 points. I wish you guys could have come to our tourny so I could see just how good you say you are, but maybe at the state tourny or next year.

Elliot has a nice 6th grade team. I watched them play in the YBOA last summer. Virgie also has a pretty decent 6th grade team but all of them play on the 8th grade team and do not play down.
