Go get 'em Coach Varney. All we can do is support the man and see where this goes. Should have a roster returning that almost any coach in Kentucky would love to have. Whether from his tragic passing or if Haywood would have retired, the outcome would have been the same in terms of who the coach is and these are Haywood's wishes.
I think all that needs to be said is Haywood built something better than was handed to him. Belfry had success before Haywood and even reached the State Finals. Haywood took that and made it better. He did it with dedication, hard work, passion, and a desire that what he was building was bigger than him. The same challenge exists for Varney now. He and his staff need to have the same mindset and realize that to grow this means working even harder than Haywood. Here's to hoping they accept the challenge.
