Paintsville and Pikeville possibly Looking for New Basketball Coaches?
#31
Wouldn’t be the first time someone “resigned” at Paintsville and had no reason to get them out of there.
#32
Sounds like wishful thinking with Landon Slone to Floyd Central.

Another post about someone "hearing" about coaching openings without saying who. I've never understood the reasoning behind posting that sort of thing.
#33
where are you all getting floyd central LOL

Being successful girls coach doesn’t translate over to being a successful boys coach. Total different animal.
#38
He has been successful with the boys game too. 3 All A region titles at Shelby Valley. No stranger to it.

He coached boys for a long time. Nephew of coaching legend Billy Hicks.

Being a leader and knowing basketball translates to all levels. If you can coach you can coach. Theres nothing inherently special about coaching boys over girls.

Hicks can coach period

If I was him I’d stay put at JC. He can run the region for a few years there cause his best players are all young. Much like that Pikeville group that graduated.

I agree with this, actually I'd argue that girls coaches are typically better because they actually have to run offenses instead of just having better athletes.

Landon Slone grew up either around or actually on Beaver creek and if I'm not mistaken he went to middle school at MCA in Martin, so that would be the only reason I can think of for him to be interested in the FC job, but he bleeds Paintsville blue so HC at Paintsville is likely his dream job. Floyd County BOE politics is terrible at the moment, so I would be surprised if he #1 leaves Paintsville, and #2 takes ANY job in Floyd county. If he resigns then I would wager that it's not because he wants to. If Paintsville forces him out then it would be just another brick in the wall of catastrophic errors in judgment by the AD at Paintsville. All of their athletic programs are trending downhill right now except for basketball, and that's mainly because Landon Slone is an excellent coach.

Couldn't see either leaving their current programs unless a college job was in the mix. Especially to move to a job in the same region. As far as Hicks, he has a gold mine where he's at. Not sure if any boy's jobs open up that are better than his current situation.
#45
I am surprised how many people on here hadn't heard of Jim Hicks. He's coached in the mountains for a long time as a boys coach and a had a ton of success at different places. Unless he is just desperate to get back into the boy's game I would stay at JC if I were him. He is 77-13 so far with JCs girls. The last two years they have had 3 losses and 3 losses. He could go on a monster run over the next 3-4 years with the talent they have coming up.

On Landon Slone, I also heard this over the weekend. But I heard from a parent of a player he already told the team that he was stepping down. We will see how this all plays out. I have zero clue about Elisha Justice. He has had a heck of a run at Pikeville and I have no doubt they will continue to be very successful if stays.
#46
Well, I can't speak for Elisha but I highly doubt he has resigned, but I can speak for Landon that he hasn't or has any intentions of resigning.

As for these rumors that I've seen on this thread alone?  Completely baseless, some of the wildest shit I've ever seen on this site.

I think people who make false claims on this site saying they are true needs to be suspended. Apparently none of this is true. No local media outlets have reported this.

I doubt the Pikeville rumor is true, but if it is they will most definitely give the job to Jordan Perry.

True statement, but don't think there's fire anywhere close to Paintsville or Pikeville.

Again, Pikeville is going to be open if it isn’t already. Not sure on Paintsville.

Is Perry the guy at Pikeville?

You all start this stuff with the Cole kid every year. There will be players moving but it will be from JC not Paintsville

What are your facts behind Pikeville being open?

He couldn't be Billy's water boy. LOL

Hicks is like most all coaches, if he has talent he will win, if not, just another guy on the bench.  I remember a few  years ago when he ventured up North for a 3 year run, wasn't overly successful.

Anything else heard about Slone leaving?

Yep, he grew up on right beaver, went to MCA his 6th-8th grade years.

He grew up in Floyd Co but he made his mark at Paintsville, as a player and as a coach.

I joined this site 20 years ago, was on it constantly for a good 4-5 years when I joined, as usual life and other things get in the way and completely forgot all about it as the years went by, and up until about this time last year when I seen someone post about it on Facebook, I honestly didn't even know it still existed. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time on here, tried to stay away from the drama on here, even tho I've dabbled in it a few times it wasn't by choice, got called out by a few coaches on Facebook recently matched my birthday on here with it on there, but it is what it is. But sometimes this site can really be a cesspool of flat-out bogus rumors, unnecessary drama, and just outright ignorance. I enjoy being on here, talking about the game of basketball more than any other, rather it be good or bad, I just call it how I see it.

No need to hide who I am, only reason I know so much about Landon Slone is that I am his cousin, may know of a few on here that already know who I am and don't need the notice but for those who know me and didn't know who I was, hello everybody. I try not to show any objective bias toward Paintsville, I know I talked about them an awful lot on here during the season, but that's just bc I've been around the program, I know the expectations and I have seen the hard work & dedication put in by the coach and the rest of his staff, I wasn't choosing favorites every time I picked them to win a game, I just truly believed that they would win, things I said on here that may have been deemed critical, I'd say the same thing to coach whenever we'd talk after every game, which I didn't have to tell him anything, he would already know.

Like I said earlier, I can't speak for coach Justice at Pikeville in that situation, as for Paintsville? Anything can happen, but coach has not re-signed as head coach, nor has any intentions to re-sign as head coach.

If the coaching Job at Floyd Central became open, do you think he would take it?@-STAT-

Floyd Central going to get Paintsville’s football and basketball coach? No clue on anything but leaving Paintsville for FC doesn’t look like a good move from an outsider perspective
