14th Region Top Teams heading into the New Year

Was just mentioning summer because I was there watching. Honestly don't understand why the 14th is down so much, only one meaningful transfer out that I know of.

Since the original topic was Perry, Corbin(6th best in 13th) has drilled em by 30+, SL (4th best) 30 pieced during summer, and come Feb Pineville(8thbest) and Knox(2nd best) will feast. No offense but Perry and the 14th is way down this year. Want any more answers on the 12th or 13th let me know lol
Actually the original topic was Top 14th region teams going into the new year.

JESUS ARE YOU A SCHOOL TEACHER?  Lmao. Gunslinger said Perrys schedule was weakest in the mtns. I was responding and continuing to respond to that. Apologies for the miscommunication on my part(Although I'm sure you knew that already lol)

Lol. I’ve seen them since then too, on streams. I was trying to say that they looked very promising as 7th graders, won an AAU event in Lexington with a lot of schools involved. And they are now in high school and are a good team. They have improved nicely since 7th grade and are a pretty solid team. They’re not going to win their region but they could win the 14th if they were a member, I think. But for what it’s worth that opinion and a dollar might get you a cup of coffee. Lol
You’d better stick to drinking coffee because a sports analyst you are not. They’re average at best. Not sure they could win the 14th and that’s really saying something.
Just offering an opinion. I could be wrong. But they beat a pretty good 10-3 Montgomery County team by 12 in the Berea tournament, and played within 11 of 5th rated Cov Holy Cross. And beat Perry by 11 in Tennessee. They’re not going to play in the Sweet 16, not saying that. I do think they’re better than “average”.
"pretty good Montgomery team"? They have beat 3 teams with winning records(2 were home games). I have physically seen Mont play- they are barely on the cusp of average and Russell co. is below that. But that being said even as anemic as they are YES they could win the 14th this year. It is waaaaaaaayyyyy below average this year. No shade just facts. I watched the best the 14th has in Knott get Pummelled by North Laurel and judging by that would say they barely be top 10 in the 13th and same for the 12th region.
Montgomery is 10-4. They have losses at top 20 teams Cooper, Assumption, and Madison Central in overtime. They lost a game in the holiday tournament at Berea to Russell Co. Those are all quality teams. And they played several games when the season started without their best rebounder and scorer. The Lady Indians are a pretty sound ball club.

Normally I agree with most that you say but I will disagree on this one. Lets revisit this a little later in the season. Yes they have losses to top 20 teams....because they didn't beat a team better than they are. In my opinion they are a product of weak scheduling. I seen them play in person and lets just say if this game was played anywhere other than "the barn" there would have been a much different outcome. Are they a decent team yes but are they better than average? Kentucky girls bball must be way down then.

Thank you very much. Like I’d previously said ol yanner better stick to drinking coffee because sports analysis isn’t his thing. Montgomery isn’t very good and neither is Russell county. Would they compete in the 14th? I’m sure but that’s not a great feat. Knott is the only team in the 14th that’s any good. After them it takes a huge drop off so I will agree with them when they say they could compete but I don’t think they could win the region. They’re just not very good.

I was thinking. I know Knott county has the best talent in the region hands down but how can everyone rank them first when they have played half the games the other teams have played? Just wondering how that works.
Letcher has played 15 games
Perry has played 15 games
Wolf has played 12 games
Knott has played 8.

Perry
Knott
Both will be hard to get out come March
Lowe is a great coach and Knott is loaded with talent this year Mosely has done a great job as well
Letcher is the team to watch for not a ton of experience but baker has been in finals bunch of times over the past years

Girls basketball in the 14th is extremely down region wide. Knott has the best team in the 14th, but still overall a weak team. Yes, there will be a winner and someone will go to Rupp. However, as far as strength of region, it is the lowest it's been in years. Things these teams lack are depth, ball handling, and basketball IQ. Yes, it comes with time and experience and I think there are some talented young players in the region, but not enough of them. The 14th region has some work to do.

I agree with this. Seems like numbers for girls basketball in the 14th has really dropped over the last few years. I always wondered if volleyball becoming more competitive and popular within the region over the last 7+ years or so has contributed to that? So many players and even full teams lack basic basketball skills as you said but the game has changed a lot too. It seems it’s turned more into 3 point shooting contests with not very much ball movement or running plays.

I agree but at the same time I feel like 95 percent of all basketball has turned to 3 point shooting and run and gun.
From NBA all the way down.
