I agree with you about ending lawfare but criminals must be held accountable. Even if Joe Biden pardons every crook in this corrupt administration, there must be investigations to determine how the Department of Justice, national intelligence agencies, and the IRS were so thoroughly corrupted and reforms must be made to make it more difficult for the systems to be corrupted again in the future. 

I'm not talking about public hearings where more speeches are given than answers. Public hearings are not a very efficient way to gather facts. Reports should be public except where classified information is involved, but most hearings should be done behind closed doors.

Let's not forget that the lawfare during the past 4 years has been almost exclusively waged by Democrats against Trump. Legitimate Congressional investigations into Biden's corruption have been thwarted by the DoJ's refusal to enforce contempt of Congress actions against uncooperative Democrat witnesses.

Oversight of executive agencies is a Congressional responsibility and simply moving on after such severe abuse of presidential power is a sure way of allowing further corruption in the future. That is the path to becoming a banana Republic.

This pardon was intended to protect Hunter from being charged with crimes that have no status of limitations, such as child sex trafficking. It was also issued as much as an incentive for Hunter to not testify against Joe, as much as it was to protect Hunter from incarceration. 

The problem for Joe is that Hunter can no longer invoke the Fifth Amendment to avoid testifying about all of the crimes he and Joe have committed in the past decade. If Republicans decide to hold Joe accountable, he may regret making the pardon so comprehensive. Of course, Joe could always "pretend" to be suffering from dementia, but Hunter will not have that excuse.

I'll go as far to say that Trump and his co-conspirators should have been executed for their seditious crimes on 1/6. You just can't let crimes of sedition go without severe punishment. A public hanging of everyone who entered the Capitol building in an attempt to overthrow legitimate election results was certainly warranted. That would be quite a deterrent for anyone contemplating similar crimes in the future. No one had any legitimate business on the grounds of the Capitol that day.
