Johnson  could make a big play or two  but Hazard won't score many on Pikeville. I don't think they will be able to run the ball much at all. On offense even with injuries Hazard isn't stoping Anthony. I'll go 28-7 Pikeville.

What’s your opinion on the Paintsville game from last week? I know Pikeville didn’t look real Pikeville like to me in the game considering they just came off a bye week. I was looking for your comments and thoughts on it?
I agreed with you and others that said something's not quite right. But there's still time IMO and I think we will see a fired up Pikeville team Friday.

I absolutely agree with you on seeing an absolute fired up team. Is this senior night? Or is the Boyd County game Senior night?

It’s Homecoming. Pikeville had 6 kids out against Paintsville and 2 others just came back from injuries. Few others playing hurt. I think the Panthers will be fine in the playoffs but they have just had more injuries than usual and to important pieces.

Hazard gets taken to Suplex City via 23 South.
I'll take the Panthers 35-14.

Only way Boyd would sign the contract to play.

They would come to Pikeville back to back years if they played again.

Who all didn’t play besides Stanley, Hager, and Hall?

Pikeville didn't look like Pikeville for most of the game last week. Almost strange to see, not to mention that Paintsville lost by the exact same score to Pikeville and Hazard.

Meanwhile, Hazard made a statement against Paintsville with a crushing running clock in the first half. Hazard may feel they'll be ready against, what they feel, will be an inconsistent Pikeville. If so, this may be ill-advised.

To be blunt, Pikeville will pounce like child support.

35-13 Panthers.

Stevens, a D Lineman and an O lineman. They also have a senior LB who is out. He usually rests the 4 starters. So 7 that I know of sat for Paintsville. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a Pikeville team with so many injuries. If they can keep anyone else from going down the last 2 games, they should get healthy at a good time with the exception of maybe 1.

To be fair, that's not exactly true.  Saying Hazard hasn't won a regular season game at Pikeville since Pearl Harbor is absolutely true.  Hazard won 7-0 in Pikeville on October 18, 1940!  Panthers have won the last 18 regular season games in Pikeville over the past 84 seasons.

@jetpilot, any idea why Pikeville and Hazard didn't play from 1955 to 1991 except for a few scattered games from 1978 to 1981?  Just wondering if there was some sort incident that ended the series for a long time.  Sure would've seemed natural for those teams to have played back in the day.

From the Pike County News during the week that Hazard beat Pikeville in 1940...

Are you sure? I believe Panther Thunder confirmed few years ago that Hazard never won there.

From the 2022 Predictions thread:

If you're into this kind of thing:

Pikeville leads the all-time series 34-17-1 overall and 9-6 in the playoffs.

Hazard last won at Pikeville, during the regular season, in 1940 according to records on file.”

Pikeville wins big.... Statement game reminding everyone they are like Eric C. Conn, baby....

They never left......

Hazard has improved tremendously this year but I look for this to be just like the Raceland game. 45-14
#45
Pikeville 35 Hazard 21
#46
I believe Pikeville wins this one. Their schedule has them prepared. They’re not gonna overlook anyone left on their schedule or in the playoffs

I think this is home coming for Pikeville and going home for Hazard just kidding bac but it is homecoming for Pikeville

If the same Hazard team goes into this game that was in Raceland awhile back, this one gets ugly about midway through the 2nd. Just don’t see this one being competitive.

Hazard has some big strong and athletic kids. But not enough of them. They struggled upfront against a young, injured and inexperienced Raceland OL. They just don’t have enough of the big dudes to handled the depth that teams like Raceland and Pikeville have.

Hazard makes a game of it but they are a year away from contending 35-21

If that team shows up, they might as well leave the Bus started. I’m not sure they struggled because they played solid first 3-4 possessions but the offenses not moving the ball any put them back out on the field quickly wore them down. But I agree Hazard may not have the depth of kids that both Pikeville and Raceland has, but Hazard only has 3/4 skill kids who goes both ways. All there lineman don’t go both ways, but you may see them out theee occasionally.

I know Pikeville has several kids who play both ways, but not sure on Raceland though.

I expect Hazard to play well, but Pikeville wins this.

Raceland has been blessed as of late to only have 3 or 4 guys play both sides of the ball and I’m pretty sure only 2 of them see meaningful time offensively. It makes a big difference in the types of games we are talking about Bac. If you have a roster of 30 and 18-20 of those guys make up 80% of your game plan, and you are playing a roster with 50 and 25 of those guys make up your game plan, it goes along way.

I didn’t think many played both ways. I know before Raceland didn’t use its depth like it should have, seem to have been doing that now these past couple years.

It all depends on which Pikeville team shows up. Do you get the Raceland, Ironton, GRC version or the Johnson Central, Belfry, Paintsville version? You never know with this bunch, and I think that's been the underlying issue all season. The Panthers have been consistently inconsistent. They're starting to get healthier week by week, but they're still not at full strength. With that said, if the leaders of this team fail to rally the troops and get everyone focused, Hazard could win this game. I look for a competitive game, but I'll give Pikeville the edge since it's at home.
