2024 Cincinnati Bengals
#31
A win today over the Ravens puts Cincy back in the talks. Lose this one and may already be looking to next year.

I put this loss on a coaching style that OSH has pointed out with the Bengals already, that being a lack of aggressiveness. You don’t play for a 50-plus yard field goal in overtime, no matter how good your kicker is, when you’ve got Joe Freakin’ Burrow at quarterback. I don’t care if he had thrown an interception on the last possession, he had five tds! He had JaMarr Chase and Tee Higgins on the field! Give him a chance to at least get you into chip shot field goal range! Bengals aren’t completely dead, could sneak in as a wild card, but if it takes 10-7 to get in (about the normal record to make the playoffs) that means they would have to go 9-3 the rest of the way. This one may be hard to recover from.

Yes, at least try to do something. Move the ball downfield some. Get closer. Heck try for a TD. Ridiculous.

Really aren't many words left to say that haven't already been said, or just don't feel like saying. But this season's over in a nutshell, hopefully they'll still be competitive, stay healthy and maybe play spoiler for some teams down the stretch who will be in the playoff hunt.

If Sad Sac Zac was a member of BGR, I would tear his conservative ass apart. Since he's not, I'm still gonna tear him a new rectum. Wait for it, BGR, it's coming.

I love how everyone is going after everyone but the one guy that actually lost the game Sunday.

The rookie holder? Stuff happens sometimes. Score a touchdown and take the guesswork out.

Please, tell us, Chia Plant, who lost it for us? I'm assuming you are talking about the guy who threw 5TDs and 400 yards.  That would be about your speed. Or are you talking about the holder?

Not only were there the three runs up the middle, but SAC Taylor threw Burrow under the bus in his presser, saying the first play was supposed to be a pass but Joe audibled the run. Even if true, why run up the middle on 2nd and 3rd? I am so over this guy. Send him the hell out of town and bring in Belichick. I can't stand Bill but at least he's a competent coach.

Well, it was bowling shoe ugly, but a win is a win, and we desperately needed one.

Defense finally stepped up and played a solid game, albeit against the Giants, but right now we will take what we can get.

No excuse whatsoever for this offense to look that bad. I'm gonna take a page out of Chia plant's book and say, "FIRE ZAC!!!"

I agree especially with how the offense has looked so far this season. Really think they need to make a move or multiple moves at the deadline to boost the run game, and secondary. Idk what draft capital they have, but have to shore up those 2 personnel groups.

If they can somehow put the offense and defense together they still have a shot. The offense has been spot on until Sunday, but the defense looked the part. Need to win the next few games going into the Baltimore game. Of course now any loss shrinks those chances at making the playoffs. But they aren't out of it yet.

I agree with what you said.  They aren't out of it yet.

Maybe they'll get a hot streak going now.  Just win some games and anything can happen.

Ravens are winning the AFC North but Cincinnati is probably still a Wildcard team. Think it takes some time to hit their stride with guys like Burrow and Higgins banged up early, but they're definitely on a different level than Pittsburgh & Cleveland, and there's plenty of time.

Not saying they're going to win the Super Bowl, but the season is young and it's far too early to throw in the towel. Seven or eight weeks ago, everyone probably thought the Dolphins/Bills game was pivotal for seeding, but we all see how that turned out.

If you made me pick today, the Bengals, Jets, and Broncos are my picks for teams that won't win their division but still have a shot in a one off.

Loss to Philly pretty much sums up this season. Bengals are not a good football team. They've been relatively healthy, but 2 weak spots for this team have been the run game which stings even worse now that Joe Mixon is tearing it up in Houston, and the secondary who keeps getting slashed for big plays. This would've definitely been a signature win and put us at .500 and possibly get the wheels rolling, but just wasn't in the cards. Funny how so much can change just in the span of 2-3 years. We were a few plays away from winning a Super Bowl, then a few more from getting back the very next season, and now here we are with a conservative head coach who's seat is undoubtedly hot, one of the best D coordinators with a lackluster defense to say the least, a QB who has put up MVP level numbers, only to have 3 wins, and none at home.

I knew letting Mixon go would not be good for us. Zac Taylor is only still coaching because of the 2-3 year run they had. A better coach probably wins a super bowl and maybe two with that team. This team should not be this bad. Way too many weapons.

Didn't Gronk once say that Cincinnati was a team that he'd like to play for?

The former NE coach is likely to be snagged up by someone for next year.  What's the odds Cincinnati tries to get him.  If so,  maybe Gronk decides to come out of retirement.

Who knows,  maybe Gronk is growing tired of doing insurance commercials with Sam Elliot  Big Grin

Bungled another one. Bad football team. terribly coached team.
#49
They still have two games with PIttsburgh remaining, but between those, games with the Chargers & Broncos (who are both ahead of them in the playoff picture), and a game with Cleveland and Baltimore, they have little to no margin for error.

If I'm not mistaken, only one of their remaining games (Dallas) is outside the AFC.

Hard to say that a team that's 1-1 in divisional play is out of contention, but they're close.

Not saying that they need to finish the year with five losses to land a playoff spot, but their odds are currently 25% and a couple of pivotal losses probably drop that to 10% or below.
