Tyler seems to be a very good boy, a little quiet maybe, but a good boy. He will be a contributer on Shelby Valleys varsity program. Maybe not as much this year as he will next year and the year after. But this thread is about the schedule, not the individual players.
As far as the schedule goes. I think it is good for area teams to get out across the state and more to get the players exposure. We sure dont get a lot of state wide exposure here. If you have the players, take them to where they will get noticed. Shelby Valley will be alright come tourney time. Hitting the roads and airlines can only make them more competitive during tourney time. If they have a good record come tourney time, they will go in the tourney with tons of confidence. If they go into the tourney with a not so good record, then they should have the confidence going into it knowing their schedule strength. They all seem to be smart boys and they know basketball. I am sure by the time the smoke clears, they will have had a season they wont forget for a while.

It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It is the size of the fight in the dog.

Looks tough, but it will make them a better team in March.
Very cool to see the bracket and a description of all the teams in the tourney. I don't know how well Valley will be able to do, they may have their hands full in the first round with that team from Miami. But, no matter if they lose every game in the tournament, it will make them a better team in the long run.

Yeah, South Miami appears to be the team to beat in the tournament with 5 starters returning who all averaged double digits last season and went 24-5.
But I agree, there's no doubt it will only make them stronger in tournament play in the post season.

They'll be too banged up and let down after those blowouts to win any games come tournie time!

What a ridiculous statement. Too banged up? This is a holiday tournament, a good two months before postseason play starts, I think they'll have ample time to heal their bruises.
As for being let down, I don't think so. Even if they lose all their games down there, playing such good competition will only serve to make them better in the long run. A lot better than they would be by playing the same local teams over and over. Now, I suppose they might be a little discouraged if they get blown out in each game, but that will at least show them what things they need to work on if they hope to compete with the big city in-state teams in March.
Remember, your regular season record means nothing, every team starts fresh come district time. The only wins that count for anything are district games, and that only for seeding purposes. Most Valley fans would accept this team losing 9-10 regular season games if it means they go further in the post-season.

What did I ever say about Taylor or Tyler? Nothing. I know, as well as any Shelby Valley fan knows, that Taylor Newsome is the starter. To be honest, I didn't even read the description for SV, I figured I already know plenty about them!

Honestly, I don't even know if Taylor should start, Jonah looked really good last night, and he was coming off of a football game the night before.

Definitely about time to strengthen the calendar. SV needs a schedule like this if they win then region and want to compete down state.
