Raceland 17 Pikeville 14

Congrats raceland.

Congrats to Raceland. Like JP, I’m not going to postnon this one for a few hours. Tough, tough game.
#33
Well, I don't think many people saw Raceland playing in the state title game when the season began. Congrats to them.
#34
I told my son that we would go 5-5 or 6-4 at best, start of the season with a second round playoff exit. I’m sure glad him and his team proved me wrong. Everyone had this as one of those rebuilding years. Well I’ll take this rebuilding year and many more if they end like this. Couldn’t be more proud of this team. #werone
#35
I told everyone all year not to call this a down or rebuilding year for Raceland. Looks like they thrived off being doubted! Congratulations
#36
Congrats Raceland. Huge win for this team and program in general. Good luck next week and bring that title back to our district.

Great job Rams!

Im still kind of in shock lol. But that Pikeville team impressed me with their poise, composure, and discipline. Their youth showed up a little bit late in the first half, after we adjusted to their speed upfront. But that Pikeville team is going to be VERY good for the next several years. I knownthey only had 2 or 3 seniors. How many jrs will they return next year?

9 juniors that saw considerable playing time and one who would have started but tore an ACL preseason. And maybe 2-3 that could develop in the offseason and contribute.

One senior starter. One played some valuable snaps. One out for the year in Battaile.

Excellent sophomore group. Hopefully a few will join in that haven’t played and PHS can get a few from this year’s freshman and 8th grade classes to be contributors over the next couple of years. The 7th grade group is very good as well. All about lining up 2-3 good classes and I think PHS has a good Junior/Senior mix next season. If they stay healthy, they should be a very good team next year. I was very impressed by their improvement from Holy Cross to Raceland.

Now the real hard work begins. How many players get in the weightroom and get out and get faster? That will determine where the Panther season ends next year. Because if you look, Hazard, Raceland, Paintsville all bring back a lot of talent as well. It will not be easy by any means. And it starts Monday.

Thank you to the seniors. And great job getting better all year. Proud of this group who wore the Maroon and White. I hope to see them back in this game next year at home. Congrats to the Rams. Always have been mutually respectful games. Go Panthers!

Great game against two overachieving teams, pikeville absolutely has nothing to hang their heads about . Coach salmons showed his patience last night with his game plan that wasn’t working at all for most of the first half the line settled down. And if anyone told me 1, 2 or 3 years ago luke would kick any meaningful field goals no way one to send them to a state title game I would’ve laughed them out of the room . He’s worked his butt off and it payed off big time for the Rams last night

Just want to say thanks to RamDad50 for coming onto the field and lifting some of our player up with kind words after the game. I was standing beside my son (#72) when he did this. Got in his face and had serious words with him. Can’t say how appreciative I am. You didn’t have to do this but I’m damn glad you did. My son will never forget that, I’m sure of it. As for the “yes sir” response, as a team, we expect NOTHING else from our players. You earn respect by first giving it and you definitely earned my respect last night sir! Good luck next week, bring it back to Eastern KY!!

Congrats to the Rams! Boy I’m telling you what those kids did out there Friday night was real football. Pikeville looked like the more polished team in warm ups but the Rams were real football players! Those kids played harder than any team I have seen in a long time. The line was nasty disruptive and physical while the secondary came up and smacked people!
The Rams stuck together and played good fundamental football. The kids never got done they just kept playing and they found a way to win. Congrats to the whole Ram Community. A tough blue collar team to represent a hard working honest blue collar community!!

Don’t listen to the Na sayers boys! You guys play real football. You all play hard and are physical but most of all those kids believe in each other! Raceland can beat Beechwood!!

What a job by that Ram coaching staff as well! The 2nd half adjustments were outstanding! Pikeville has no answer for the ground attack in the 2nd half!

Congrats to the Rams...

Congratulations Raceland, though it was a shock to me that this was your first state title appearance. Given how strong the top five schools have been in the east the last five years or so, this came as a shock to me. I know everyone is saying Beechwood is going to be a tough opponent and they will be but if you compare scores... this may not be the blow out others are expecting. Yes, Beechwood beat Corbin but I remember everyone from Corbin saying it was the worst game they played all year. They also barely beat Somerset, who barely beat Hazard... and I'm pretty sure you all know who beat Hazard out in the playoffs. So go get them.

As for the Panthers, somebody had better had gotten you this year because the next two years could get nasty. A team with only three seniors, though only two every played... yikes! You will certainly be the pre-season number one next year and should be ready to give any on your schedule a game.

Ok I believe I’m emotionally stable enough to post. First off congrats to the Rams , best of Luck, Prayers for safe travels and injury free Game at Kroger Field. If my panthers can’t be the one to represent the east I’m glad it’s you guys. Friday nights game consisted of two of the most well balanced teams to ever face one another on the field. The team who made the fewer mistakes was going to Win. Going into the game I seen it going into overtime. ( Panthers by 6 - 13-7 ). With three seconds left and Racelands chances Riding on the Leg of Lematers , my tears came before the snap, My sons followed shortly after. First time I have ever seen my Son Cry. ( it hurts but I forgive you Raceland )
I never attended an away game in my life outnumber 10-1 in fans but still felt at Home. Thank you Raceland for making a state semi final Loss as manageable as possible for our Family’s , our Friends, But most of all Our Panthers.
You can throw the stats and spread sheets out the window, Racelands best stats aren’t kept on paper and can’t be measured in increments known to anyone. Heart ❤️ Will , Faith , and determination will win , when the pen says you can’t. God bless

Well said Panther. You guys are a class act, as well as your coaches who were very gracious after the game. Mutual respect from both sides = two classy programs.

Just going to point out, the Pikeville players were “real players” too. Despite the penalties, the Rams were still held to 35 yards of offense at halftime. And were held to barely over 200 for the game. Don’t you dare insult our players like that. Most important stat of the game for Raceland was ZERO penalties. I said before the game penalties and turnovers I felt would be the key. Just didn’t realize there would be 8 (or 11 I read somewhere else) flags on Pikeville (some were deserved) to ZERO on Raceland.

But hey, y’all did a great job cutting down the goalpost. Real nice form and very polished.

Good luck to the Rams. I hope y’all beat Beechwood. I really do. Keep it on the East side. This post is just aimed at what I felt was a cheap shot from one of your posters.

RAMDAD50 Wrote:Thinblue is a Russell fan and I don’t think he meant any disrespect!!
Calling Raceland “real players” was disrespectful. Had he said both teams played their a&&es off and left it at that, fine. He implied Raceland was the tougher team. I’d take our players over anyone, anytime, any place. Considering now that I know he’s a Russell fan, that explains a lot.

Thinblueline is a throw back fan don’t like the spread offense , Raceland lined up offensively and just ran right at pikeville in the second half and it worked. I don’t think he was trying to disrespect pikeville players. Pikeville has a great season no doubt about that

He needs to focus on his own team being able to win anything before he starts dissing other teams. Russell hasn’t been relevant in years in ANY STYLE of offense.

Pikeville had 151 rush, 154 pass, 305 total yards to Racelands 186. That wins games when refs don’t insert themselves into it. Dominating defensive and offensive performance by our Panthers. My heart breaks for these kids. East side needs to be on high alert for 2018. #TakeNoPrisoners.

Wow , your taking a great game and turing into the Refs fault no class take your damn loss and grow the heck up
