I am from Paintsville and am a Paintsville fan, but like I said compare the complete stats, not just scorin. There were definately more deservin.

There were so many players deserving this year in the 15th! Congrats Kendra! Don't pay attention to what people say on here, cause no matter who won it someone would think there was somebody more deserving. But that speaks volumes about the talent level in the 15th region, there was 4 or five girls that could have won this award this year.

Redneck Wrote:Last years coulda went either way considering Chelsee's and Calloray's stats were identical. This year on the other hand is a different story, there is NO WAY that Kendra's stats are even close to Ashley Jade's or Haley's, JMO. As for here being the most important to her team, take Ashley Jade or Haley away from their teams and see how well they do.

According to the KHSAA

Thru 27 games, Kendra averaged 20.3 points per game and shot 75.6% from the FT stripe.
thru 23 games, A.J. averaged 21.1 points per game and shot 76.3% from the FT stripe.
Thru 11 games Haley averaged 17.3 points per game and shot 80.6% from the charity stripe.

Pretty dang close if you ask me.
Actually closer than last years front runners.

Congrats Kendra! Yes the 15th had a lot of talent in the senior class this year, but the coaches in the region chose her----end of story!

Kendra, Haley, AJ, Ester, and I am sure a couple more would have all been very deserving. They all had great years. But they could only be 1 POY. Kendra got the nod and I guarantee it was close. Kendras numbers were great considering that every team out there wanted to stop her.
Kendra is as much deserving as anyone. Face It!!! It's not like everyone had their year and she averaged 12 points a game and got it!

Congrats Kenny!!!!

Well what else you want to compare?
I would bet her steals, rebounds, assists and everything else is right up there with the rest as well.
She always came up with a steal or 2 a game and would be good for at least 6-7 boards.
She has been tagged as selfish all year, and in reallity, nobody else tried very hard to step up their games til the last three. If you had seen very many games you would notice how many times she would try to get others involved and lots of times others just didn't come through.

Every team we played, came away saying that she was for real.
Ask knowledgable people who the best at creating their own shot was. Guarantee Kendra!

Many more???
Definately not the statistics' opinion.

Like that Magoffin County game in the district championship. All anyone told me (both Paintsville fans and Magoffin fans) was that Paintsville could have pulled the upset but she wouldn't let anyone else shoot the ball the last 2 minutes of the game. I watched one game this year and that was all I could stand, she took probably 20-25 shots, just like last year. And there is no way the other stats are close to a couple of the other front runners. Am I saying she didn't deserve it, NO, I'm just sayin that there were others more deserving.

I would definately like to see the assists stat.

Well.....it helps that if and when you pass the ball, that your teammate can catch it and score. 2 sides to an assist. LOL

It was the last 30 seconds of the MC game. "winners want the ball"!

I am just saying that her stats would be right up there with the rest, not saying they were tops.

And isn't that the same thing?

I am serious... I watched one game where she should have had at least 6-7 assts. and got only 1.

Not really, look at the competition Magoffin played against and look at who Paintsville played. Magoffin by far had a much, much tougher schedule and AJ still averaged more. But I guess who they played outside of the region doesn't matter considerin the 15th coaches are the ones who voted.

Exactly.
And MC might have had a different star in every region game. Paintsville only had one standout.

Haley missed a lot of games, and Ester....well.....we all know everyone hates on SV!!!Big Grin

That's true. Like I said in the other thread, they should wait til after the region championship game and have all the 15th coaches vote immediately after and announce the winner durin the awards ceremony. That way all the coaches can see everyone play, like someone from MC said, MC didn't even play any 58th district teams, that's 4 votes the coulda went another direction...

Big congrats to kendra IMO she carried her team the whole season and no one could stop her.
#57
Congrats Kendra, best of luck to you at Western Carolina!!!
#58
As I said before no player meant more to their team than Kendra Carroll! Come on ppl, without her pville is hurtin bad. Wait and see, next year the are gonna be way down!
#59
Kendra was a great player but Guru, you are singlehandedly trying to carry Paintsville on your back and prove that she rightfully earned this award. Statistically there were better players than her.

#60
This award IMO isn't just based on stats! It's based on which player means the most to their team and KC is def. number 1 on this list. Stats are a part of the decision but when you look at the other players in the running and how their teams fared without them you notice they were still very, very good teams. However, without Kendra Pville stinks!
