The Ashland Tomcats won 8 State Titles from 1900 to 1968, going in one stretch 6 Seasons without a loss. I realize that likely none of us, except maybe Bob Cigar, was alive in 1900, so lets move forward. Johnson Central came to be in 1968. That year Ashland won the FIRST of it's "modern" era Titles, yes with polycarbonate, not leather, helmets. They won again in Class 4 A in 1975, a "State at Large" Title. All other 4 A Teams played then the winner went to Louisville and played the Louisville Champion for the "Over All" Title. The KHSAA made that rule, not the TOMCATS. We were beaten by a very good St. X Team. Now we go to 1990, and won the 3A Title, with a trio of 1,000 yard rushers. These are facts. Again, I say to the Detroit Rocker, "How many you got?????"

I've been reading this site for several years now and after having my fill, decided to join. YES the TOMCATS have a game this week. Unlike the want to be's from south on 23, we scheduled up and are playing a 6A Team, also with great tradition. We plan to take the best running back in KY in 2015 and a really great DEFENSE to Lexington and beat this 6A team. Now when any of you southern want to be's begin to hang STATE CHAMPIONSHIP BANNERS and by the way, the first one still means as much as the last, from the walls of your respective stadiums, THEN the TOMCAT NATION MAY consider you worthy to speak our names. TILL THEN continue to hope and dream and try to figure out the mystique of all things TOMCAT.

Yes. A 6A team with a losing record. I think all will agree that Johnson Central's opponent, Belfry, is superior to Tates Creek. After all, they beat Tates Creek 55-38 earlier in the season. Caretaker's spin is a bit faulty but, as with a lot of maroon fans, don't confuse him with facts. All those ancient championship trophies have effected his thinking. I'll bet he can also tell us about all the great teams at Louisville Flaget.

Ask Belfry Middle, ask Newport Catholic, ask Coal Grove (scrimmage didn't happen this year). So you moved up from 4A to 4A to play Highlands and Covington Catholic (5A). You must really be a home grown Ashlander. You beat Highlands last year huh. Covington Catholic hasn't made Ashland their whipping boy since they joined regions up until this season. Alright.
