Coach Maxey Wrote:Taking advantage of kids? You idiot what do I have to gain? I'll help any kid I can or asks for it from whatever schools they play for. Yes I love Peyton bc he's a great kid, hard worker and plays at the same school I played at. He's never one time played on a team I've coached. People like you are funny bc you have no idea what you are talking about.

What do you have to gain, attention i guess and money. And no one said that Broughton did play for you. But we all know what your about. If you are so worried about the kids then why do you get on here and bad mouth a kid for nothing. Bottom line is Smith was the best player on the Floor and shut your boy down when it counted and you are butt hurt over it. Just like i said if you know so much about basketball you wouldnt be in your mid 30's living your dream through other kids. Grow up!!!!!!

I have to agree BA. Pretty CLASSLESS coming from a guy that claims to be all about the kids. I think Smith and his family will be ok without coach Maxie's help. I'd like to get back to talking about a good game between two good teams highlighted by a duel between two good players. Tonight Smith got the upper hand but next game could be different. For the record I think Maxie is the only person who saw any bad sportsmanship. All I saw was a really good game.

Man I promise you sound so stupid right now. In fact I have made lots of calls to try to help Blake. I have spoken to his dad numerous times about trying to help in get exposure. See for simple minded people like you you don't get it. I would help any kid out there If I can. Never have I said a negative word about that kid not would I, I think he's a tremendous player! You saying I do it for the money has me rolling!!! I probably spent more money out of my pocket in the last five springs and summers on these kids than you will make in the next five years. As far as I can remember I don't recall ever gaining the first cent off of aau. If you know someone that coaches and has made money doing it is love to shake his hand because he's way smarter than any coach I've met doing it!! Lol

North, Knox, Clay, Corbin, they all could bring home the region this year. It may be the most competitive one in awhile.

You say none of the greatest would do what Smith did? What about Jordan, Bryant, heck even Reggie Miller. Just ask Spike Lee. Not saying what Smith did was right but you gotta love the competitiveness by both teams. This is mountain basketball, nobody is passing out participation ribbons.

People keep saying the press will beat Clay. People keep saying Knox will win the 13th, people keep saying North will win the 13th. Which either team could. But right now nobody can beat clay when it mattered. Just ask Coach Sizemore how hard it is. He would know.

I agree with Count lets get back to talking about the game. BA and Maxey either drop your pants and measure em up or just relax and remember it's just a game

Sorry, it was a great game! Not going into player evaluations or anything but the comment made About Broughton being shut down is not completely true at all. He got ball about anytime he wanted and got doubled or one waiting to help when he got it. Thought he played really smart. Didn't see the forcing I had read about about him. Smith is a great player and wish him the best. Broughton is rock solid from what I saw tonight. In the end it doesn't matter what we think, all about them colleges. Hope to see both play at next level. Well worth the price of admission tonight.
Still would like to see some stats on tonight's game.

It's not that you talked bad about him but posting on a site that Smith can even see what you posted is not very good. The smart thing to have done was to not have posted anything in any kind of negative light and kept your opinion to yourself. I think Broughton and Smith are two of the better players in the region. I've always heard teachings from coaches, stay with your man everywhere he goes. Again, as I posted earlier championship atmosphere in December. I don't think Smith did anything to effect his recruitment or how college scouts see him. His attitude doesn't compare to what some other players who have played college basketball. I think a competitive edge is always great.

You are getting the wrong idea. I think he's a really really good player! Honestly he is a top three player in the region without a doubt! Just like all high school players he has parts to work on. Just like Peyton I'm sure the kid is a hard worker you can tell he's put time in. For a hs kid to be that consistent from 15 foot he's worked really hard bc you don't wake up and shoot that mid range pull up. Again I would never attack a kid on a personal level from what I know the kid is very intelligent, hard worker it's just a rival he will be a fine player at the next level.
#40
Plain and simple, Broughton didn't want the ball at the end of the game. Broughton should have told the 8th grader to give him the ball and get out of his way. BUT HE DIDN'T. I'm not coach cal but that tells me all I need to know.
#41
Very good point about the mid range jumper. It's a lost art theses days. It's either a layup or a three anymore. I do think he could be Best in the region by year's end if he keeps up the offensive numbers plus the other aspects of his game. Broughton has a chance to bring it home too. Two good players, two good teams.
#42
Maybe u were still amped up after the loss but u kinda did attack him on a personal level. Just saying. I think he was the best player on the floor tonight and if he was more unselfish he could have had 30 easy.
#43
Labeling his attitude disgraceful in your original post is what I consider negative. In a recent article about Cousins and Charles Barkley came out about a week ago. Barkley saw cousins play in high school and didn't like his attitude, and said something about Cousins. Cousins heard about it and ignores him now. Be careful what you say, especially online, words are interpreted much different than what they would be if they were heard.

Hoop madness I Dont know what game your where watching, but when Blake Smith went to guarding Broughton he was a non Factor! If you would like a copy of the game film i will glady sent it to you so that you can watch and see for yourself. And i do agree with BrokenArrow that MAXEY you are way out of line with your comments. Broughton is an Outstanding player but for anyone to say that Smith didnt cut his water off tonight in the 4th quarter your blind. if you would like a copy PM me your address and ill send it in the morning.

I did see Smith tell Marcum that he was going to guard Broughton. To me that tells me a lot also.

Agree to disagree on the matter. Don't need tape, watched it live. No matter, great game with some really good talent. Best of luck to all of them. Loved the atmosphere of the game also, always makes it better.

Oh , and still waiting to see some stats on tonight's game.

What I saw tonight was 2 good teams that played a great game......Broughton has improved his shot from last year but the kid depends on the 3 to much......Most of the time he has to have a pick to create a shot......Smith doesn't.....he simply will drive around you and either go to the rim...or pull his sweet jumper......If you want to say Clay got the calls you are crazy....you can't go to the line when you jack up 3's every time.....I loved Smith going to the Norths huddle.....it showed me he was not scared of what many say is the best player in the region......Broughtin showed me what kind of player he is also....when Smith got in him he didn't even try to get the ball.....so for all you haters who think Broughton is better than Smith.....you have went and lost your mind.
#51
I thought the 8th grader did a heck of a job handling the ball in a tough environment. He wasn't afraid to drive the ball. He made a heck of a pass to the big kid at the end of the game. It was 2 really good teams with good players that c each other 3 more times
#52
Wished I could have made this one. Sounds like a dandy.
#53
I disagree with you coach wackey. I love Smith and the fact the he was waiting on him at the huddle. He wasn't talking trash or trying to hurt someone like one of norths players. But you have a right to your opinion I also think it's comical that you think you can help a guy get his name out. Who the heck are you!
#54
I wasnt at the game but I have a feeling if north can stay with clay at clay this close and from all accounts should have won on a easy bunny at the end that clay is in trouble when north gets clicking. I love all this trash talk about what smith did or didnt do. If your a north fan and a kid from other team comes in your huddle it would be the last time he thought about doing that and if your a clay fan you love smiths will to win and his competitiveness.
#55
Yea playmaker it was a great game. The huddle incident was great. Us CC fans just have a problem when used car salesmen get on here and attack one of our towns finest young men. The 8th grader really impressed me with his composer. He will be fun to watch in the next few years.
#56
North bigs non factor.
#57
Great early season show down. This one should play out at least 3 times. Collier has moved his boy to the point of sacrificing his senior year.
#58
Used car salesman? now count you have ruffled me now! lol
#59
So are Collier's only options (1)going back to Jackson County, or (2)prep school? Anybody heard what he'll do?
#60
With more games to come, neither team will be each other exactly the way they'll play when it counts. These games are important, but not the most important.
